a hand holding a bottle of liquid - A person holds a hot sauce bottle with a black label featuring a cartoon lion and the words 'Poirie' and 'Louisiana Style' in front of the Heat Onist storefront in Brooklyn, NY. The storefront has a blue exterior with white lettering, and the interior of the shop is visible through the open door, showing shelves with products and a person inside. The photo is taken outdoors during daylight.

Came here for Dustin Poirier fan meet and autograph signing. Good store with a lot of hot sauce selection. I have only bought Dustin Poirier hot sauces from here: Creole maple, KO edition (finished/shared 3 bottles, working through last bottle), and finished 1.5 regular spicy bottles. Looking forward to buying more.

Amazing customer service and knowledge from staff. !! I was walking by, and thought is there really a store just for hot sauces? I went in and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. I asked two different people about 10 questions each about the history of the store, hot sauce ingredients, why is this even so popular?? I tried four different hot sauces and bought a few as gifts. I absolutely think buying $20 hot sauce is really luxurious and maybe even unnecessary, but after talking with the staff trying all the different flavors I truly see how creating a hot sauce is ART and can add so many different dimensions and flavor to a dish that you're creating. I'm totally sold on the whole concept.

Great selection of hot sauces. So many flavors and levels of heat. My suggestion is to watch there YouTube video before going and have an idea of what type of flavor you are looking for. They will let you taste about 20 of them but that just added to my confusion. I also wish they had the level of heat on each bottle.

If you can't get enough of hot sauce and put that shit on EVERYTHING and get that sick pleasure that occurs when your fucking mouth is ON FIRE, then you have to check out this place. I've heard about a store that sells a whole bunch of different kinds of hot sauces in NYC. I don't know if this is the one but when you type in "hot sauce store" in the yelp search, this place comes up first. I schlepped over to brooklyn for this place. I rarely go to brooklyn so that's saying something. I'm actually retarded and we got so caught up in conversation on the way over on the L that I totes forgot to get off on my stop. Don't you HATE when that happens? It's so embarrassing. We had to get off and go back around on the other side to go back one stop. Don't tell anyone. Not a far walk from the Bedford Ave L stop. They have a very good collection of very interesting and unusual hot sauces. I actually don't think I've ever seen any of their varieties before. I happen to be pretty familiar with hot sauce and proudly have half a fridge door shelf full of those bad boys. It's definitely an advantage to have many different types to suit the flavors of different cuisines and dishes. The best part about this place is you can legit go up to the dude behind the counter and TRY ALL OF THEM!!!! It's really cool. Find me another place that does that shit. No but really, if there is, let me know. Especially if it's closer to midtown. It's really sick to be able to like try them, especially because this guy knows them super well and can make suggestions regarding flavors and cuisines and pairings and whatnot. They have this spicy HONEY and it was DELICIOUS. It's really a dope place. Also, warning: even for someone with a spice tolerance such as myself, trying hot sauce over and over again, especially on the same part of your tongue (I obviously didn't think that through) gets very painful after a while. I bought this mustardy hot sauce that I rather liked. I could have bought a million of them actually but they're on the expensive side. The one I got cost $10. Is that not a lot? I'm used to like $6 cholula. They also don't have any like regular hot sauces in case you're like, "oh shit...I'm actually almost out of my tapatio" or some shit but that's probably intentional. I feel like some things are staples that should be there like west indian. I guess that's not "fine" enough (they say they're purveyors of fine hot sauce). Bottom line: if you're obsessed with hot sauce like me, check out this place.

I am excited to try these! $18 neighborhood special

I love this store and will be back many and many times. Today was my first time visiting this store. Due to COVID-19 they have only opened the past two Saturdays from 3pm-7pm. Check out their Instagram story @heatonist on Saturdays before you go! They have very cool neighborhood specials. No sampling currently but they have a great team that can help you find what you want. The person who helped me was very knowledgable and knew exactly what types of sauce go with which foods!

I love spicy! Its all about the flavor and the burn.. the more i feel like im committing tastebud suicide the better. I bookmarked this place because it was recommended by a friend. While i didn't have the pleasure of experiencing this place first hand i was there in spirit. My husband made the trip out there to pick up some sauces recommended by his friend. The store closes at 8pm on Saturdays but he was able to request a few sauces of interest. Upon arrival the sauces were nicely wrapped and packaged. Did i mention he arrived a few minutes after closing time? That's customer service for ya! Sauces are tasty. But im still looking to find one to my own liking.. for that near to death feeling bahahaha.. I plan on going in two weeks time. They literally have a hot sauce buffet! You can try a variety of sauces until you find your heart's desire. Love the concept! oh boy im drooling just thinking about it. ;)

It was so much fun just wandering around the store and discovering everything. Everyone there is so nice and welcoming too. My absolute favorite thing here is their Mango Lassi, it is $4.95 and it is perfection. It may be the only lassi better than the one I make at home. If you are as obsessed with mango lassis as I am and want to try one the makes it better than most (if not all) of our local restaurants, then please save one for me.

I've noticed at the typical occult leaning stores charge up the yang for the most basic $hit, so seeing this was refreshing. The owner was nice; they didn't have black in-stock but he tried looking for me anyway and that effort mattered. He was warm and expressed a tone of gratitude which I found lovely! I will be returning back if I need an obscure ingredient for a recipe I've been dying to cook! They also have henna, etc. as well as more imported things that you are unlikely to find anywhere else. Def would recommend if you want to support a small business!

Recently I am introducing more and more because I love the taste. No doubt I eat a lot of TUMs but it's worth it some days. In the past I've had the Marhaba Mayan Tropical Sea Salt purchased here. I'm very fortunate to have a Yelp gift of the same Sea Salt without making a trip to the store. Here is the quote from the package. I recommend you visit the location for everything spicy your heart desires. I'll stick with sea salt for now. TROPICAL SEA SALT "This sea salt was harvested off the coast of Guatemala salt ponds, created along the mangrove forests, where Mayan began harvesting salt since as early as 1000 BC. Nurtured by mineral-rich volcanic soil and the tropical waters this salt lend it a mild minerality and higher moisture content, making it an ideal finishing salt, enhanced with the taste of the tropics. Adds flavor to both sweet & savory foods, such as seafood & grilled meat," It's definitely good!

We spent almost an hour in here, and if we weren't heading home the next day and limited on suitcase space, we could've spent even more time browsing and buying. We ended up getting a variety of seasoning blends, lentils, bitters, powdered cheese and egg whites, and some spices. Can't wait to start cooking with all of it! Customer service was very friendly and welcoming.

The sheer variety of spices and loose-leaf teas on display is impressive and makes for a beautiful, almost Moroccan-bazaar-like atmosphere. The good news, the quality of the products seems excellent. The selection is top-notch, and you can find some truly unique blends not available in regular grocery stores. The just okay news (hence the three stars), the price point is a bit steep compared to other places, which is likely due to the prime Grand Central location. For the small tins/pouches, it feels slightly overpriced. My main critique, and a recurring theme from what I've seen, is the hit or miss customer service. On my visit, the staff seemed a little distracted to help, more interested in chatting among themselves than assisting customers browsing the vast selection. Do not expect good service. If you can accept that fact, and know the vast selection of spices you want. Overall, it can be a great spot for unique, high-quality spices and teas, but only if you know exactly what you want and don't mind the price or potentially indifferent service. Worth a browse, but perhaps not a "must-do" unless you're a serious foodie or tea enthusiast in need of something specific.

Now, I'll admit, the shop is deep in Brooklyn, and since I'm usually out in Queens or Manhattan, it's a bit of a trip for me. But honestly? worth it.
