Beach area

This public campground was convenient in the fact that there are hot showers, real bathrooms, and faucets near tent areas. They also have picnic areas near the lake, however it's a pain to lug all your stuff their and then back to the campground. There is also a beach with life guards, however we preferred to swim away from all the kids near the picnic benches. It's a little Rocky so you may want to bring swim shoes and a floating device. The campground has a lot of space and we didn't feel like we were on top of other campgrounds. There also provided grills at each campsite. I have to say I'm happy we had showers and bathrooms but they were not always the cleanest, especially when it rained so bring flip flops!

I stayed here this past weekend (Sunday-Monday) (2 adults + 1 dog) and we had an amazing time. We stayed at site 67, right on the water. Everybody was super friendly, check in was a breeze. The sites were spacious (and many were unoccupied). A new fire pit, plus two picnic tables and plenty of places to hang a hammock. I didn't find the bathrooms to be anything less than average (bc some reviewers addressed this). Town is only 10 minutes away with boat tours, rentals, hiking (Buck was amazing), and food. Can't recommend this location enough - I can't wait to go back already!

We have stayed here a few times now and have to say that each time has been Great. The Staff are always nice and more than willing to help out in any way. The grounds are well maintained, each site has ample room for two - three tents or a nice size camper. It is about 1 1/4 miles north of Lake George Village and offers a Trolley Service that picks you up at the main gate. The trolley offers you many different stops along Route 9 and goes through Lake George and points south. For $1.00 a person, it is unique, Fun and for some, the preferred way to get around the Village because of the Parking hassles. Before I forget, down at the lake front, there are Picnic Tables and cookers provided for your use. Everything is spread out so you have enough room to enjoy yourself and have a little privacy. Hope you all have a fun time! Reserve a Site at: http://newyorkstateparks.reserveamerica.com

The sites are close together and packed on a summer weekend.

When I booked out vacation for the 4th of July, I selected our dates of arrival n departure, the website clearly has a big blue button that says availability ends on july 9 2025, if I speak English correctly that means it's available only until the 9. I clicked on the big blue button takes me to the middle of the next page where it says book now, I clicked book now and the very next page just asks for your payment information, what I did not know was that the website changed the dates to 07/06 instead of check in 07/04 like I entered, I received the confirmation email with the wrong date so I called them immediately and Mary who answered the phone said sorry too bad no refunds on holidays! I tried to explain to her and she wasn't caring one bit about it, gaslighting me to the best of her ability. She then said well I can change the site for it I ended up having to pay more money for an RV site cuz was the only thing available besides a plain site without W&E like I had already paid for. Then I went to look some of the reviews and I saw a picture and the RV site is gravel, she never mentioned that to me I asked her how am I going to put a tent on top of gravel??' Again their response is that that's none of their problem they already took my money if I want to come good if not good, they do not care! I made a complaint with BBB for the way that they have been conducting business and misleading and cheating on people! Save yourself the headache and book your trip else where! * by the way the video was done today about 2 weeks after all this happened. To this day they are still taking bookings for dates that aren't available and switching it over without showing the customers!! Be aware!

The office manager Patty is rude and has no moral values of doing the right thing for the customer. On Thursday July 19th we checked into Ledgeview CC, we knew we had a balance due as the campground emailed my wife of the balance due of $213 for the 8 day stay. During the check in the woman behind the counter (Patty) said the amount was incorrect and that the booking website calculated the good sam discount on the weekly rate which was already a discounted rate for the week. And that the good sam discount would only be honored on the additional day. So the additional amount due was $43. We took issue with Patty as she was the person that emailed my wife with the remaining balance due of $213. She should have noted in the email that they won't honor the Good Sam discount on weekly rates, But she didn't. Patty make the mistake and should have honored the amount noted in the email she sent. But she refused again saying it was the booking web sites error. And then proceeded to firmly read the campground rules aloud focusing in on a couple rules, like if we were to have guests, if we don't call the office ahead of time they would be refused entry to the park. We paid the full balance due and processed onto our site. It was a hot humid day during check in and we fired up the AC right away. We have 33 foot, Fifth Wheel with only 1 AC unit. With temps above 90° this evening, I was watching the power coming into our camper bounce between 110 and 114 volts, within an hour of being there and setting up the camper the 50 amp fuse on the pedestal popped, knocking out all my 120 volt circuits, we were only running a television an external speaker the AC and some 12 volt lights at the time, I reset the pedestal and everything was fine for the rest of the night, In addition I pulled my fridge off of the 50 amp circuit and plugged it into the 20 amp outlet on the pedestal, the next morning the temperatures and humidity raised quickly into the mid-90s again late Saturday morning the pedestal power popped again we were only running minimal stuff air conditioner 12 volt lights and so on. We complained at that front office they asked us if we were running more than two things, seems to be a common question that campgrounds ask when they have poor power. They said they would have someone look at it. Good thing for us, the temps the rest of the week hovered around the 80's, and we didn't have any additional issues with the power.

We stayed here two nights at the beginning of August (2019) and couldn't have had a better experience. The new owners took over just two months prior, so they are busy doing upgrades to the camp office and store and around the campground. The upgrades being made did not impact the quality of camp sites or other facilities. Additionally, the personal attention provided by Will and his father made us feel like regulars. Will's father greeted me by name every time he saw me and would stop what he was doing to chat. We stayed at one of the full hookup sites during this visit. There are less than 50 total sites in the campground and only a hand-full had full hookups. Most did have water and electric. The sites are VERY Level, good sized, close, but spacious enough to have an enjoyable stay without being on top of each other. The cottages and motel looked nice from the outside. There is a nice sized and landscaped swimming pool, game room, and large community fire pit to enjoy. The location of the campground is ideal. Only two miles south of Lake George and a few miles north of the Outlet Mall. Another amenity is the paved bike path that goes along the back of the campground and runs between Lake George and Glen Falls. This was a great amenity and can help avoid all the traffic at Lake George by riding bikes into town. Overall this was a great place to stay to explore the area. Being smaller in size meant less traffic and noise, but didn't mean less enjoyment. The campground and buildings were well maintained and conveyed a welcoming atmosphere. The one area where Whippoorwill is lacking is the camp store/office, but this is the area they are currently updating so I expect great things in the future. We look forward to returning in the future.

So this place basically had no wifi, the people who own it are very nice and helpful. But they told us as soon as we arrived there is no cell phone reception whatsoever throughout the campground. Yeah I wasn't too happy. The general store was over priced, 2.25 for a lighter I can get one for 1.75 at home. And the showers and bathrooms need a renovation or just a good cleaning. Also don't plan on washing dishes here they yell at you if you do. And They charge u 2$ for each bag to use their dumpster,,,,we laughed and drove to the mobile down the road and tossed it there. The pool looks nice from the outside, but we didn't go in it that much because it wasn't maintained.(For example, it wasn't skimmed and never vacuumed so there were dead and living bugs all over the bottom of the pool and the surface of the water, besides the frog in the pool enjoying the bugs no one used it the whole time we were there) Overall I wouldn't come here again, thought we'd give it a try but gonna stick to going to Lake George Escape Campgrounds from now on.
