My husbands family has been camping at Hidden Pond since the 1970's, however, I am relatively new to camping and have only been camping here since 1998. Prior to this time you found me on the sandy beaches of New Jersey or on a boat in the Great South Bay off Long Island-I cannot believe that I am as hooked on this lifestyle as I am. Hidden Pond Campsites has everything to do with that transformation.
The location of Hidden Pond is second to none in the Adirondacks, it's located about 30 minutes north of Lake George, 4 miles off the Northway at Exit 25 and 2 miles atop a small mountain nestled in the trees. It is close to all the activities available in the region, and there are lots and lots of things to do all summer long. This brings me to the first thing you need to know, Hidden Pond is a "Seasonal" campground, one of the most reasonable priced in the area. This means that you rent your site for the entire season which runs from May 15th to October 15th. A site comes complete with water, electric, sewerage hook up, fire pit and picnic table. You will also find that sites are roomy and not on top of other campers. You can also opt for Direct TV and Frontier Phone and Internet at your site if so inclined. My husband and I have been at the same site for over 16 years and Hidden Pond feels like our second home. Most campers store their camper over the winter. Dave and Bev, the owner's and operators, live on the grounds and are able to keep an eye on everyone's investment all year long, this always gives us peace of mind when we have those really snowy winters as they have shoveled off trailer roofs when the snow gets too heavy for them. They always show a lot of care towards the well-being of all their campers. The grounds are always kept neat and manicured and tree crews come through twice a year usually to take care of any dangerous limbs encroaching on trailers or campsites; all roads are properly maintained as well. The community bath houses are always clean, there are laundry services also available.
Hidden Pond itself is spring fed, there is a sandy beach area that is raked daily, swim areas are roped off and there is a dock to swim out too as well. Please note that there are no lifeguards on duty and There are no boats allowed in Hidden Pond (Brant lake is located at the base of the mountain with a boat ramp about a half mile away for the active boater), but there is on site storage available for boats on trailers at the camp. You can fish on the pond but all fish are "catch and release".
They have a pavilion that is the epicenter of activity at Hidden Pond. This houses the general store for camping necessities, the office, the game room, books & a reading area, announcement bulletin board, and the free Wifi. This is also where many of the summer events are held, including Bingo, "cook-offs", pot lucks, dancing, Santa, etc... You can also get your propane tanks filled right here at camp for a nominal fee.
The community is friendly and family orientated and we have made many good friends over the years. The scenery is beautiful, the air clean, the atmosphere serene and the community friendly. We love getting away to our mountain "retreat" and enjoying all the Adirondacks and Hidden Pond have to offer. This is a well kept, well run campground and we will continue to commute more than 3 hours each way (almost every weekend from May to October) just to have a little bit of that in our lives.
