Whether you're skiing at nearby Gore Mountain or whitewater rafting on the Hudson, returning to a nice warm condo to relax with a cold beer is a huge comfort. When we have a big group for skiing, I always try to get the 4 bedroom units, but there are only 2 of them, so the earlier you book the better. They're not true 4BR because they are really 2 units with 3+1BR with an adjoining door and 2 entrances. The unit rental rate is pricey, but that's to be expected on a holiday weekend during ski season. On the plus side, you have 2 living rooms, 2 kitchens and 3 1/2 baths which makes a big difference when you're cooking dinner or trying to get everybody ready to go out to the slopes in the morning. Both units also have gas outdoor grills if you want to throw on some steaks after a long day on the slopes. Just be sure to put on all your ski gear if you're manning the grill and it's 0 degrees when the sun goes down. The office and clubhouse building is only a short walk away. Some of the individual units have WiFi if the owner is nice enough to have it installed, but it's available in the clubhouse if you really need it. There is also a swimming pool, foosball, billiards and table tennis. The office even sells discount lift tickets for Gore if you want to save a couple of bucks off the mountain price.

You could drive, but there is also a shuttle. The price for the two bedroom town house was not cheap, but the comfort factor made up for it. It has a full kitchen, with lots of dishes, cooking utensils , pots and pans. Even a blender! Anything you can dream of, with more than enough serveware which was nice. There's also a dishwasher which made life easier. Living, dining and kitchen were open concept, large dining table and a flat screen tv. Upstairs were two bedrooms , the master with ensuite and shared hot tub. I was surprised how clean the place was, everything was spotless and seemed like it was left just for us. No one bugged us for the three days we were there which was nice, but you could have requested a change of sheets, more towels if you wanted to. The office down the way, had a pool and maps and thing but we didn't use any of them. The only 2 complaints was that they couldn't give us the Wifi password and seemed to be only available in the office ( a huge downer for us roaming canadians) and for some reason we couldn't regulate the temperature consistently (either too hot or too cold) Otherwise the stay was really enjoyable, and couldn't have asked for more in accommodations. For those that dont feel like skiing, North Creek town about 5 mins away has a great bakery and antique shop!

Todd was very accommodating to us when we had to switch dates for our vacation. He was also great with communication, giving us detailed welcoming and departing emails stocked with all sorts of info. There was one small glitch that Todd saw to in a very timely manor. The cabin had a kitchenette that had everything we needed for our week stay. Two separate bathrooms (with abundant hot water) were very nice to have and would come in handy for two couples or a family with kids. The Wi-Fi was fantastic - no issues. TV with Roku was nice though we used it just once. We made use of the fire pit, grill and picnic table almost every day. Corn hole and a horseshoe pit were also used. We also brought croquet and bocci sets that we used as there was ample space to play. $10 for firewood that could be used for 3 separate fires was a decent deal. It's a great location between Saranac and Placid. The only suggestion I would have might be to put together a binder with suggestions of local hikes, water holes, falls to see/swim in, places to eat, etc. Here are a couple to consider: Jay Covered Bridge (swim, 30 min drive), https://www.whitefaceregion.com/story/2015/08/jay-rapids-adirondacks-best-kept-secret, Peninsula nature trails (10 min) easy trails with access to swimming in Lake Placid https://www.lakeplacid.com/hiking/peninsula-nature-trails , Donnollys ice cream 20 min, mom and pop ice cream place with just one swirled flavor that rotates daily. It's the creamiest that I have ever tasted. The same guy has been running the place for nearly 60 yrs. https://www.facebook.com/people/Donnellys-Ice-Cream/100064413290587/?ref=page_internal. There are tons of places to checkout. Make sure to do some homework and make a list before you arrive,

They have a few cabins, guaranteeing you an intimate vacation with great attention to detail. They also have a 3 bedroom house they rent which has 1 queen sized bed, 1 full sized bed, and 2 single beds. The property has 2 ponds, a barn, large lawns, children's playground, docks, a beach, a raft, lounging/sunbathing areas, and tons of amazing mountain and lake views. The cabins are up on the hill looking down on the gentle waters of the beach below. Most importantly, the family that runs Horicon Heights is what makes it so special. Craig, Amy, and their 4 kids are involved in every element of running this magnificent place and make you feel like part of their family for your stay. They also buzz off when you want to be alone. Either way, its one of the best places to stay in Bolton Landing and I love renting the 3 bed room house. Next time you come to Bolton you should stay at Horicon Heights...tell them I sent you!

The water is crystal clear. There is a fun little floating raft to swim out to. There is a dock which you can pay docking space for if you rent a boat. You can also fish off the dock which my boys really enjoyed. The cabins (one bedroom or two bedroom) sit up on top of a hill- some provide nice views of the lake. The cabins are rustic but very clean and provide you everything you need. Outside each cabin is a grill (charcoal) and a fire pit to build a campfire on. Each cabin has a deck with a table and rocking chairs. Amy and Craig run the place and are always around to help you. Their kids are so nice and their youngest son is just the cutest kid. He played and showed my two younger boys around. He knows all about nature and how to catch (and always release) little frogs and fish in the pond. I told Amy she should rent him out and he should give little nature tours. This place is intimate, rustic, and just a WONDERFUL adirondack vacation. This is what a trip lake george should be. Not some musty motel with shag carpet and a swimming area basically in a marina. You cant walk into Bolton but we definately dont leave a city to come vacation on top of loads of people. We have stayed many many times and we will return again.
