Lake George Riverview Campground is very scenic the Schroon River bends along the whole property and the campsite affords kayaking tubing all sorts of summer activities and in October they have a wonderful garage sale the largest in the country where vendors arrive from all over the country to sell their wears. I know I'm getting away from the review of the campground, but it's all packed into one you come here during the event you camp and then you go to town for the garage sale. It's a wonderful vacation week. It's all in walking distance! read more

Great campground. We found the staff friendly and accommodating. Bathrooms were a little older but very clean. Pavilion and showers were nice. Pool is smaller size but with the river do you need it? We found the sites were than accommodating of our 40' 5th wheel and 4 slides. Plenty of room for our family and friend to gather around. No issues with noise at night. We were some of the last ones up at night. Great for seeing stars and the river was nice to float in and indulge in some libations. Short 8 min ride to lake George village or Diamond point. Farmers market nearby and price chopper right across the street with dunkin by entrance. We will return. Not sure what all the poor reviews are about. read more

Where to start we arrived at night since we had to work and had a map drawn we had reserved a river side location but seems from all the reviews and our experience these people lie and tell everyone they have river side. We were on the other side of the row nothing that would make me come back. The second issue I had was they were over crowded the made spots in area that should not have spots. And I drive trailers Easy the placement is insane. Took me a second try to get in and that's a huge chance if it's a newbie driving. They apparently did some renovations to the camp. Don't know where. We used it for family time and friends. Our neighbors were really nice people in all directions. I knew it would be a tight situation when we turned in. If u get what they promise I guess it would Not have been 2 stars. But we didn't. And it seems these people lie to just get you there. Lucky we were easy going. Hope this helps. read more

Peace and quiet with a serene view was what we were looking for and found it here. We were fortunate to find an opening right on the river and were greeted every morning with a beautiful mist and a family of ducks :) Though it appears that it's a bit cramped it's not..the way the site is planned with a slight angle you do enjoy a decent size quiet area to relax. There is a 24 hr Price Chopper supermarket literally across the street which was a huge plus. One highway exit to downtown Lake George put us close enough yet far enough away from the crowds. The campground offers kayak and canoe rentals, the river is very calm almost still which made paddling a breeze. Decent fishing for bass, sunfish and possibly trout. Great for adults, probably a challenge with small children to have fun on the grounds. read more

Lot of potential here and improvements are being made to sites and grounds, but much work to be done if they intend to be a Good Sam rated facility. They built all new hookups at every site, improved the bath house, more on that later, so the owners do care. During the check in, they offered no discounts and squeezed our 30ft Class C onto an uncompromising small 16 ft by 32 ft space. It was tight for an 8ft x 30ft RV, but probably okay for a tow tailer. Apparently going for quantity of spaces versus quality. The site was number 34 and did have a great, but again small view of the river, to give you some perspective of the layout, our fire ring was behind our RV with perhaps 4 feet of space to setup chairs. So the campground has one old school 2 shower and 3 stall bathroom setup and a new family style bathroom with 4 units of sink/shower/toilet as of 7/3/14. Again, potential to be great on the new bathroom, but the 1/4 of standing water, no mirror, malfunctioning hand dryers caused me to not want to use the family bathroom. As I mentioned before, the sites are tight on space and the tight spaces can cause unneeded conflicts. One such incident began when we returned from Ft. Ticonderoga to find our neighbor parked in our lone space. We noticed earlier by the smell that our neighbor had not used any type of septic collar as required by state law and simply stuck a hose in the septic outlet. We unfortunately let it slide with only a couple of days left. Anyway we politely asked for whomever to move their vehicle, the neighbor did move and offered no apology. Because they had 3 cars parked on their, and our site, I assume it was a visitor. My DW mentioned to me they also had two dogs and to keep our medium dog on a short leash, which I did and perhaps 1 minute later one of their unleashed dogs walks on our camp site and attacks pur chained dog. We both lost it on neighbors and screamed at them to leash their dogs. No response, no apology, no manager to enforce any rules. No return visit from us, just too many issues with this campground. If Good Sams truly cares about their members, they will also not associate with this campground until they fix some major structural issues. read more

This is a great campground with a very well balanced mix of the camping experience and the luxuries of modern day living. From what I can tell, all campsites have at least water and electric hook up. Which is a plus for those who, as mentioned before, want a little luxury with their camping experience. The campground itself is small. Which can have its advantages and disadvantages. Campsites are on the small side as they try to cram as many in as possible. But on the plus side, you never have to walk too far to reach a real bathroom. The campground offers a few amenities. They have a decent size beach with about 10-20 plastic lounge chairs. For those who fish, you'll love the river view campsites that they offer. No bushes or trees to hike through like some other campgrounds that claim they offer "river view" campsites. There's a small pool upfront, but nothing to spectacular in regards to that. Same goes for their mini-golf course. I'd recommend visiting any of the few mini-golf courses in the Lake George Village instead. The general store at the entrance to the campground seems to have great prices. We were able to get a decent sized bag of wood for $7 and two bags of ice for under $5. Service was always friendly every time we entered the store. Overall, this was a great experience and we plan to revisit this campground again in the upcoming August month. This campground needs to make much improvement. Where to start the pool is dirty and no one cleans it my family has cleaned the pool numerous times before we could use it. The management is terrible they let the seasonal people run the place and complain about everything. Don't bring your dog if they bark they will complain and try to kick you out. There is nothing for the kids to do so if your kids are kids don't bring them you will get complaints about yours kids riding their bikes and if they are having any sort of fun management will ruin it for them . The entrance in and out of the place is terrible the wait time is usually 10 minutes . Bathrooms are dirty only cleaned once a day . Will NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN. Not worth the money . read more

Very quiet cute little campground on the Schroon River. We stayed for 3 nights on a river front site (33). Sites themselves are a little small, but they are level and clean with a very pretty view of the river. Full hook ups for a reasonable price for the area. Right outside campground is a liquor store, supermarket and Dunkin donuts; yet the campground is quiet and feels secluded in a good way. Bathrooms and showers were great - shower and toilet in a private room; so lots of privacy; they are regularly cleaned; I saw other reviews where people posted the dirty floors; but you have people tracing in sand and dirt so it's pretty unavoidable. You can rent tubes, kayaks and canoes from the office. Double tube for $8 for 2 hours to me is a bargain! Pool is tiny but clean. There is a small arcade that could use a bit of updating. Overall we really enjoyed our time here and will be back. We travel with our 3 kids (16, 14, 8) and 2 dogs. One suggestion would be add a washer dryer room. To me 3 Stars is a good review; I save 4 and 5 for RV Resorts. read more

Never again....Actually not even this time. To the spiteful woman behind the reservation desk that moved my reservation 8 miles away from the rest of my party to a partnering campsite because I complained about being overcharged, KARMA will take care of you. My friends that did have their reservation honored were packed in like sardines in quite possibly the tiniest sites I've ever seen. These guys are obviously much more interested in soaking people for a one time stay than retaining long time customers. Thank goodness for great friends that know how to make the best of a rotten situation and uber drivers. read more

If possible to select zero stars I would! Only clean restroom closed as caretaker did not have time to clean them. Remaining restroom & shower filthy. Not cleaned in days! People allowed to smoke in it. Water on site is not drinkable as chemical smell & taste. Unable to use dumping station as poor set up. Avoid this campground! read more

Very poorly run! Sites are jammed packed together. Inconsistent policies... some are made to deposit on the phone when reserving (thus being locked in) and some don't have to give money until the day of arrival. We were told a site number when we reserved and but got a different (and worse) site when we got there because they change things around to accommodate bigger groups that reserved after we did. Made the mistake of booking two weeks at the same time so we are locked into the second weekend (under 10 day notice). Called to see if we could just switch dates because it going to rain this weekend and was told no, although many campsites do this. read more

I have posted reviews elsewhere about this site,and seeing the results of the recent renovation only confirms what I stated elsewhere: if you like noise,lack of privacy and no room to move this is the camp for you. Anyone reviewing this camp can not honestly say it is quiet nor spacious. If driving your RV from your neighborhood to wedge it into another,different neighborhood is your thing then come here,by all means. I'll reiterate. It is NOT quiet,it is NOT spacious and it is NOT private. Don't take my word for it though,plunk down that hard earned cash,I'm sure the owner will thank you. I should add that up to this year (2019) this campground was my family's spot for decades. No more. The roots have been pulled. I don't know much about camping as this was my first trip however I do know quite a bit about customer service and I can confidently say that the owners here showed the worst customer service skills I've ever seen. When we first arrived at the campgrounds we had four spots reserved - one of which had other campers set up on it. This was a simple matter of double booking the site but rather than apologizing for the oversight and offering to make it up to us the owner and his wife and their children all came to our site to tell us we could either deal with it or leave. The wife was unbelievably rude but the husband tried to keep her calm. After driving four hours we certainly weren't leaving so we had no choice but to forgo the one night without that campsite. $40 down the drain. That was only the beginning of the problems which ranged from utter disrespect, rudeness, threats and near violence. Our group consisted of young adults from ages 23 - 29 so I can only assume that is why we were treated so poorly, however I can assure you that manners like these are not limited to certain individuals. These people were just on a power trip and would have no problem acting just as crass to any other campers. I would like to give camping another try in the future but there is no way I would return to this site, nor would I recommend anyone else do the same. This review is not biased because if you look up reviews on other websites you will see similar complaints from over the years. read more

This campground is smaller and quieter than many in the area, making it very appealing to us. As mentioned in other reviews, many of the premium waterfront sites are very small and tight. We chose non-full hook up sites in the field on the river for more space. We really liked it there. While the campground is older style it is obvious every year they are spending more money on improving the campground. The new bath house is very nice. It's one of the best I've seen in a campground in a long time. Everyone we dealt with at the campground was very nice to us. The camp store seem to be very fairly priced. we will return. Not a very good stay kids went to office to ask for change of a $20 to play games in arcade was told by manager she wasn't there to give out change video cameras around arcade. Complained about dog barking a whole 15 mins while we want to store . Bathroom had sand all over floor on more than one day. Women in office was very unfriendly. Seem seasonal people there come first . I wouldn't go back to river view if they gave me 5 free nights if you have kids or dogs that make any noise don't go there!!! read more

I've camped my whole life and never have I been treated this poorly. When my friends and I booked this trip we asked a ton of questions. We are all in our mid/late twenties and while we don't "party hardy", we do enjoy sitting around the campfire talking until around 2am or so. When we go to a new campsite we always check to make sure that this is okay (we don't scream or anything but 8-10 people talking at night in the woods can seem a little loud sometimes) and ask to be put at the farthest campsite if possible. After being assured twice by the owner that all was well and good, we booked 4 campsites (3 together and 1 apart). When we arrived we realized we didn't need the 4th campsite but agreed that we should pay for it since it was last minute and the owner offered to take $30 off and we stated we would stay on the 3 connecting campsites. That's when the trouble started. After we were led to our campsites, the owner realized there was already someone on our third site so went back to see what was up. He returned with his wife who stated that the people had a baby and she would not move them so we had two choices: Stay on the two sites and move Saturday when the people left or take our money and leave (this was all said with a healthy dose of attitude). We were a bit stunned. No one had said anything argumentative and we wondered what we had done to anger her. (Also because we were sure she wouldn't take that attitude if she knew we were older) Of course we weren't going to leave after driving 41/2 hours with no alternative campground so we agreed and asked for a refund on that site for the night. She replied that, "since she gave us a $30 discount she would only give us another $9". And then proceeded to tell us "kids" (I'm almost 30 so was slightly flattered and annoyed) that this was not a party ground etc, etc. The whole scene was very rude and disrespectful. It may have stemmed from the fact that they took IDs from the absolute youngest members of the group (23 &24) when we checked in. Once they left, my group was a little upset but I convinced them that she most likely had a bad experience and we just needed to show them we were good campers. Boy was I wrong. The rest of the night they patrolled our area, warned us to stay away from other campers we had befriended and just generally harassed us. I was very proud of our group. Everyone smiled and followed the rules and kept their mouths shut. We never did move to the third site-who wants to move their stuff after it's set up? It seemed to be all well until Sunday. The owner came over in the afternoon and complimented us on Friday night but said Saturday got a little loud when we were talking around the fire pit. We apologized and told him that there would only be 5 of us that night and we would be going to bed earlier. When we came home from karaoke that night we sat around playing cards. As we had the previous nights, we checked to see our noise level from the road to make sure we were fine-and we were just a light murmur (barely discernible from the other campsite). A little before midnight the owner comes flying in on his golf cart and starts screaming at us (literally! -our neighbors turned on their lights when he started yelling). He told us he was sick of getting calls saying we were noisy and we needed to, "go to bed or get out" and if we didn't he would, "call the sheriff". We were stunned. No warning that someone thought we were being loud (and we were checking), just a disrespectful and patronizing attitude. He wouldn't talk to us and proceeded to pretty much stalk us the rest of the night-even waiting for me outside the bathroom at one point. This angered our entire group. If we had once shown them disrespect, or partied hard, or been crazy loud I would have said we had earned everything we got. But we weren't. We were harassed and harangued simply because they thought we were "kids". All in all, we paid about $500 to stay on two (instead of 4) sites, got told to keep to ourselves, were harassed repeatedly, and ultimately screamed at. I honestly feel that if they had known that most of us are older, they would have not had a problem. My boyfriend wanted to give them a piece of his mind when we left but I knew it wouldn't do any good - they simply thought of us as troublesome college kids. The owner did apologize when we turned the keys in but also asked us to not make a reservation next year. No worries there. I will be sure that neither myself nor anyone I know ever goes there. I have never written a bad review but this experience sickened me. To treat someone with respect but get nothing but a crappy attitude and harassment back simply because of age is just atrocious. read more

Camp ground was decent but could use improvement. As you enter there's and small cabin (their office) which you check into and visit throughout your stay for camping needs. They then escort you to your assigned camping spot which are very close together. Certain spots are better then others (and larger) but most are right next to each other. Each spot has a very small picnic table, a truck wheel drum (to build a fire pit), a water spicket, and a power outlet. They have a bath house split into seperate male and female restrooms ( each containing 3 toilets stalls and 2 showers) open 24 hours. They sell firewood and bags of ice , have kayak and canoe rentals. Didn't really check out much of the facilities since I was looking for a camping experience. Although they have a 10pm noise curfew and staff "monitoring" throughout the night, kids were still screaming and music playing. The beach was very small but clean, no grass at camp sites just sand. read more

My husband and I spent 4 days in this campground and loved it! The owners were very accommodating and helpful. We had a truck problem and they recommended a great mechanic to us who fixed our truck in a few hours. The owners repeatedly asked us if we needed anything and if we were enjoying our stay. We received no attitudes and were never harassed in any way. The campground was clean and our fellow campers were friendly and happy as well. We will definitely stay at this campground again and will recommend to friends and family. read more
