Where to start we arrived at night since we had to work and had a map drawn we had reserved a river side location but seems from all the reviews and our experience these people lie and tell everyone they have river side. We were on the other side of the row nothing that would make me come back. The second issue I had was they were over crowded the made spots in area that should not have spots. And I drive trailers Easy the placement is insane. Took me a second try to get in and that's a huge chance if it's a newbie driving. They apparently did some renovations to the camp. Don't know where. We used it for family time and friends. Our neighbors were really nice people in all directions. I knew it would be a tight situation when we turned in. If u get what they promise I guess it would Not have been 2 stars. But we didn't. And it seems these people lie to just get you there. Lucky we were easy going. Hope this helps.

Peace and quiet with a serene view was what we were looking for and found it here. We were fortunate to find an opening right on the river and were greeted every morning with a beautiful mist and a family of ducks :) Though it appears that it's a bit cramped it's not..the way the site is planned with a slight angle you do enjoy a decent size quiet area to relax. There is a 24 hr Price Chopper supermarket literally across the street which was a huge plus. One highway exit to downtown Lake George put us close enough yet far enough away from the crowds. The campground offers kayak and canoe rentals, the river is very calm almost still which made paddling a breeze. Decent fishing for bass, sunfish and possibly trout. Great for adults, probably a challenge with small children to have fun on the grounds.

I guess we need to be campground police

Lot of potential here and improvements are being made to sites and grounds, but much work to be done if they intend to be a Good Sam rated facility. They built all new hookups at every site, improved the bath house, more on that later, so the owners do care. During the check in, they offered no discounts and squeezed our 30ft Class C onto an uncompromising small 16 ft by 32 ft space. It was tight for an 8ft x 30ft RV, but probably okay for a tow tailer. Apparently going for quantity of spaces versus quality. The site was number 34 and did have a great, but again small view of the river, to give you some perspective of the layout, our fire ring was behind our RV with perhaps 4 feet of space to setup chairs. So the campground has one old school 2 shower and 3 stall bathroom setup and a new family style bathroom with 4 units of sink/shower/toilet as of 7/3/14. Again, potential to be great on the new bathroom, but the 1/4 of standing water, no mirror, malfunctioning hand dryers caused me to not want to use the family bathroom. As I mentioned before, the sites are tight on space and the tight spaces can cause unneeded conflicts. One such incident began when we returned from Ft. Ticonderoga to find our neighbor parked in our lone space. We noticed earlier by the smell that our neighbor had not used any type of septic collar as required by state law and simply stuck a hose in the septic outlet. We unfortunately let it slide with only a couple of days left. Anyway we politely asked for whomever to move their vehicle, the neighbor did move and offered no apology. Because they had 3 cars parked on their, and our site, I assume it was a visitor. My DW mentioned to me they also had two dogs and to keep our medium dog on a short leash, which I did and perhaps 1 minute later one of their unleashed dogs walks on our camp site and attacks pur chained dog. We both lost it on neighbors and screamed at them to leash their dogs. No response, no apology, no manager to enforce any rules. No return visit from us, just too many issues with this campground. If Good Sams truly cares about their members, they will also not associate with this campground until they fix some major structural issues.

Very quiet cute little campground on the Schroon River. We stayed for 3 nights on a river front site (33). Sites themselves are a little small, but they are level and clean with a very pretty view of the river. Full hook ups for a reasonable price for the area. Right outside campground is a liquor store, supermarket and Dunkin donuts; yet the campground is quiet and feels secluded in a good way. Bathrooms and showers were great - shower and toilet in a private room; so lots of privacy; they are regularly cleaned; I saw other reviews where people posted the dirty floors; but you have people tracing in sand and dirt so it's pretty unavoidable. You can rent tubes, kayaks and canoes from the office. Double tube for $8 for 2 hours to me is a bargain! Pool is tiny but clean. There is a small arcade that could use a bit of updating. Overall we really enjoyed our time here and will be back. We travel with our 3 kids (16, 14, 8) and 2 dogs. One suggestion would be add a washer dryer room. To me 3 Stars is a good review; I save 4 and 5 for RV Resorts.

When I booked out vacation for the 4th of July, I selected our dates of arrival n departure, the website clearly has a big blue button that says availability ends on july 9 2025, if I speak English correctly that means it's available only until the 9. I clicked on the big blue button takes me to the middle of the next page where it says book now, I clicked book now and the very next page just asks for your payment information, what I did not know was that the website changed the dates to 07/06 instead of check in 07/04 like I entered, I received the confirmation email with the wrong date so I called them immediately and Mary who answered the phone said sorry too bad no refunds on holidays! I tried to explain to her and she wasn't caring one bit about it, gaslighting me to the best of her ability. She then said well I can change the site for it I ended up having to pay more money for an RV site cuz was the only thing available besides a plain site without W&E like I had already paid for. Then I went to look some of the reviews and I saw a picture and the RV site is gravel, she never mentioned that to me I asked her how am I going to put a tent on top of gravel??' Again their response is that that's none of their problem they already took my money if I want to come good if not good, they do not care! I made a complaint with BBB for the way that they have been conducting business and misleading and cheating on people! Save yourself the headache and book your trip else where! * by the way the video was done today about 2 weeks after all this happened. To this day they are still taking bookings for dates that aren't available and switching it over without showing the customers!! Be aware!

We had a particularly bad interaction with him in the swimming area. He came up to us, well within 6ft with no mask on, immediately yelling that this area was a "no swim zone." We politely asked him to put a mask on or please back up. We tried to explain we didn't feel safe at the beach area due to the large crowd. We walked to the front to ask the staff where we should swim to socially distance. They suggested the picnic area to us. His response to us was "well I'm in charge, I don't care about a mask and will evict you if I see any of you in the water." It was pretty harsh. We weren't the only group that had an issue with Ed. It was a known joke among several different groups in the camping/beach area we overheard/spoke to that you had to "watch out for him." We have some friends who recommended Hearthstone since they had been camping there for over 20 years and they mentioned that it's never been like that in the past. They said it was Ed's first year on the job and he was brutal towards all the campers and staff. We saw the rest of the weekend Ed consistently break the 6ft barrier, never having a mask on and talking/yelling at all different patrons. Even in the check in area where a mask is required, he was sitting in the 6 x 10 ft enclosed area with no mask on while campers checked in. The rest of the staff was great. Everyone was wearing masks from the front desk area, assistant manager, maintenance teams, campfire wood drop off team, etc. Ed was the only one who was difficult but was also the one closely interacting with the most people. We won't be returning as long as he is managing the campground.

The office manager Patty is rude and has no moral values of doing the right thing for the customer. On Thursday July 19th we checked into Ledgeview CC, we knew we had a balance due as the campground emailed my wife of the balance due of $213 for the 8 day stay. During the check in the woman behind the counter (Patty) said the amount was incorrect and that the booking website calculated the good sam discount on the weekly rate which was already a discounted rate for the week. And that the good sam discount would only be honored on the additional day. So the additional amount due was $43. We took issue with Patty as she was the person that emailed my wife with the remaining balance due of $213. She should have noted in the email that they won't honor the Good Sam discount on weekly rates, But she didn't. Patty make the mistake and should have honored the amount noted in the email she sent. But she refused again saying it was the booking web sites error. And then proceeded to firmly read the campground rules aloud focusing in on a couple rules, like if we were to have guests, if we don't call the office ahead of time they would be refused entry to the park. We paid the full balance due and processed onto our site. It was a hot humid day during check in and we fired up the AC right away. We have 33 foot, Fifth Wheel with only 1 AC unit. With temps above 90° this evening, I was watching the power coming into our camper bounce between 110 and 114 volts, within an hour of being there and setting up the camper the 50 amp fuse on the pedestal popped, knocking out all my 120 volt circuits, we were only running a television an external speaker the AC and some 12 volt lights at the time, I reset the pedestal and everything was fine for the rest of the night, In addition I pulled my fridge off of the 50 amp circuit and plugged it into the 20 amp outlet on the pedestal, the next morning the temperatures and humidity raised quickly into the mid-90s again late Saturday morning the pedestal power popped again we were only running minimal stuff air conditioner 12 volt lights and so on. We complained at that front office they asked us if we were running more than two things, seems to be a common question that campgrounds ask when they have poor power. They said they would have someone look at it. Good thing for us, the temps the rest of the week hovered around the 80's, and we didn't have any additional issues with the power.

We stayed here two nights at the beginning of August (2019) and couldn't have had a better experience. The new owners took over just two months prior, so they are busy doing upgrades to the camp office and store and around the campground. The upgrades being made did not impact the quality of camp sites or other facilities. Additionally, the personal attention provided by Will and his father made us feel like regulars. Will's father greeted me by name every time he saw me and would stop what he was doing to chat. We stayed at one of the full hookup sites during this visit. There are less than 50 total sites in the campground and only a hand-full had full hookups. Most did have water and electric. The sites are VERY Level, good sized, close, but spacious enough to have an enjoyable stay without being on top of each other. The cottages and motel looked nice from the outside. There is a nice sized and landscaped swimming pool, game room, and large community fire pit to enjoy. The location of the campground is ideal. Only two miles south of Lake George and a few miles north of the Outlet Mall. Another amenity is the paved bike path that goes along the back of the campground and runs between Lake George and Glen Falls. This was a great amenity and can help avoid all the traffic at Lake George by riding bikes into town. Overall this was a great place to stay to explore the area. Being smaller in size meant less traffic and noise, but didn't mean less enjoyment. The campground and buildings were well maintained and conveyed a welcoming atmosphere. The one area where Whippoorwill is lacking is the camp store/office, but this is the area they are currently updating so I expect great things in the future. We look forward to returning in the future.
