I'll never not go here. Second trip and experience wasn't quite as life changing as the first but still some of the best food of the trip.

This is absolutely some of the best gumbo I've ever had. The flavors were literally eyes-rolling-to-the-back-of-my-head type of good. Unfortunately, Yelp did not eat first with this one (I didn't get to take a picture of it). It came with a grilled cheese and potato salad! All the pricing online is accurate, there is street parking right in front of the restaurant with outdoor seating, and the food came out very quickly. I wouldn't really come to this restaurant to hang out with friends for a dinner since it's kind of small. But it's definitely one of those places that if you're in the area and wanting to pick up some soul food, you should DEFINITELY come here and get some.

Fried fish and shrimp

After a long day of travel to get to NOLA, I was too pooped to go out and hit the streets tonight for dinner. Ordered DoorDash from HDK on the cred of the many positive Yelp reviews and it didn't disappoint. Tried two dishes, as I couldn't settle on one. The fried fish and shrimp were outstanding! Loved the dipping sauce and the seafood was cooked perfectly. The fish fillet was about an inch thick and so moist and flaky. Yum! Not sure I loved the fries with the crawdat sauce - they were a little salty. This ff dish kinda gives poutine vibes with the gravy. The Superdome was also tasty. I liked the fried fish better than the blackened, but the mashed potatoes and corn and sauce draped over the fish was rich and delicious. This fish was much thinner and a little chewy. I'd love a hybrid of Superdome using the thicker fried fish. Bread pudding was my dessert, warm and dripping in caramel/brown sugar sauce. I had to restrain myself from eating the whole thing! This was a perfect way to start my visit to the Big Easy.

We dined at quite a few restaurants during our stay in New Orleans; however, this hidden gem was hands-down the BEST (we even recommended it to our Uber driver!). The restaurant is tiny, but don't let that fool you: the portions were plentiful, and the taste was unlike anything I've experienced before! Quick and friendly service, southern hospitality. It's definitely on our list of places to visit when we return!

Seafood extravaganza

There's a lot of good food in New Orleans but there's only one heard dat kitchen. I found this spot on accident 5 years ago and it's been blessing me and my homegirls ever since! It's a little hole in the wall spot that probably can't hold more than 6 people inside so you know the food is going to be bussin! It's probably best you take it home anyway so you can make all the noises that you need to make comfortably without being judged lol You have to try them for yourself! When I tell yall I came here two days in a row because I was having withdrawals, I really mean that. I highly recommend the seafood extravaganza! I promise you will not be disappointed and If you are let me know so I can look you in your face and call you a liar. Shout out to my girl Esther that took care of me and I'll see yall when I'm back in town

super flavorful and definitely worth it. The service was good and everyone was friendly. The space inside is a bit small and tight, but once the food comes out, you forget all about that. I'll definitely be back!

So you land in New Orleans, stand in the heat waiting for an Uber at the airport, and finally make it to your hotel room after checking in at the front desk. You sink onto the couch in your room. Your stomach growls. But it is too late for breakfast and past lunch, almost dinner time. But you want to eat, now. What do you do? You hop on Uber Eats, scroll and find "Heard Dat Kitchen", order a few items, and it ends up being one of the best meals you've had in New Orleans and maybe one of the best meals you've ever had in your life. Everything I ordered on Uber Eats here (catfish over red beans and rice with cornbread and extra side of cornbread with Crawdat sauce) was absolutely delicious, perfectly seasoned, delivered quickly, and piping hot, so you know it was fresh. Don't even question it, add it to your list of restaurants to try out.

There's no way that the wings that you guys are providing are THIS SMALL. These are the smallest "wings" I've ever seen in my LIFE. Complete ripoff.

I'm sure this is already listed somewhere but the website has me confused. The restaurant website gives hours for every day of the week but says dining is only 11-4 on Tuesday through Saturday. Are they open for dinner on Saturdays?

Yes they are open for dinner until 9pm.

Menu says Uber eats, but I try searching for it, doesn't come up. How do you set up Uber eats to deliver?

We have Uber eats and Waitr for deliver services. You have to be within a certain mile radius for them to deliver!

We came in Saturday night without a reservation and only had to wait a few minutes. Our waitress was amazing from the second we sat down. I really wish I remembered her name because she was super attentive, funny, patient, and honestly made the whole experience even better. My boyfriend and I started with the Creole oysters and OMG... probably some of the best oysters I've ever had. They were incredibly flavorful, and dipping the bread into all that sauce afterward was SO good. My mother-in-law had the fried calamari, which came with remoulade, and she really enjoyed it. For my entrée, I had the jambalaya with chicken and andouille sausage. It was definitely spicy, but really, really good. My boyfriend and mother-in-law both had the grilled red snapper topped with their creamy crawfish sauce, and they loved it. My father-in-law had one of the oyster specials with shrimp and crawfish, which was also excellent. We finished with dessert... boyfriend and I had a chocolate mousse/cake dessert and my in-laws had the bread pudding. Everything was delicious. The atmosphere was casual and fun, they had the football games playing on the TVs, and our waitress was fantastic the entire night. Just an overall great experience. If you love seafood and oysters, definitely give this place a try. I would 100% come back!

We visited on a Saturday, and as expected, there was already a line outside. We waited approximately 15-20 minutes to get inside, but I can confidently say it was absolutely worth it! The highlight of our visit was the charbroiled oysters topped with crabmeat, and they were phenomenal! The oysters were served hot, swimming in a rich, buttery, garlicky sauce with plenty of seasoning and delicious crabmeat on top. Every bite was packed with that wonderful New Orleans seafood flavor. The combination of tender oysters, savory crabmeat, and buttery goodness was incredibly satisfying. And let's talk about the French bread! It was perfect for soaking up all that delicious garlic butter and seafood flavor left in the shells. Trust me, you won't want to leave any of that sauce behind! I also loved the casual, lively atmosphere. Acme has that classic New Orleans oyster-house energy that makes the dining experience feel authentic and fun. It's busy, bustling, and full of people enjoying great seafood, which is exactly what I want when visiting the French Quarter. My advice: Don't let the line outside discourage you! Even on a busy Saturday, our 15-20-minute wait was completely reasonable, especially considering how delicious the food was. If you love oysters, the charbroiled oysters with crabmeat are an absolute must-order. Five stars! Acme Oyster House is definitely worth adding to your New Orleans food itinerary, and I would happily stand in line again for another platter of those oysters!

Pêche is located at the corner of Magazine and Julia Streets in New Orleans' Warehouse District. We also shared the spicy shrimp over pasta, and it was amazing. For our main dish, we had the baked drum, served with stewed okra. The fish was cooked to perfection, and the flavors throughout the dish were balanced and delicious. We also shared the grilled zucchini. It was a bit overcooked and softer than we would have preferred, but the flavor was still excellent. Reservations are highly recommended, so plan ahead. It is well worth the effort for an experience like this.

When oysters arrived, they were the size of half dollars (had no taste), there was no horseradish, nor serving forks, or lemons. Told server about our concerns. He brought back one fork, and a saucer of lemons. Tables were pretty close, so when the table behind us ordered oysters, they came out the size of the palm of your hand.
