Gayle and I returned to the Via Rail Edmonton station as part of our 4 day train trip from Toronto…read moreto Vancouver. The station remains in the middle of nowhere. We did walk over a mile from the station to find some wine to purchase and we did notice a family (who was also on the train) schlep down to the same street to find a McDonald's. Gayle and I were happy to get back on the train, relax, and wait for it to leave the station. That didn't occur until after bed time. I really like Edmonton, but this isn't the part of town to experience what it has to offer. Admiring its skyline from a distance was a small comfort.

It serves both the Capital Line and the Metro Line. It is an underground station located beneath Jasper Avenue between 103 Street and 104 Street. It is named for both the former Hudson's Bay Company store and Enterprise Square, the University of Alberta's downtown campus. The concourse level is connected to the pedway system through Enterprise Square In general, I try to only travel LRT during business commute hours or in large groups for a football game, etc. Otherwise, the buddy system is the way to go!

I like that it's connected to Commerce Place and the pedway system to various buildings and it doesn't seem as busy at the Churchill station. There was a coffee shop at the top of the escalator but I believe it's closed now, and not sure if they will reopen. If not, the Tim Hortons in Commerce Place is not a far walk but it is nice to see a local independent place operate here. The escalator was working and a hub for where I need to go.

I haven't stopped and gotten off at Central as much as the other stations along the line but I did…read moreuse it over the summer to connect with the 151 to go to La Cite Francophone and for the most part I didn't have any issues. Much like Churchill the stairwells are sometimes filthy but the station itself isn't that bad. They do have washrooms here as well but I have never used them so I can't attest to their cleanliness. I haven't ran into any intoxicated or shady characters here like I have at Churchill despite Centrals close proximity to Churchill. They also just opened up a coffee shop here called Burrow. I think it's great and super convenient for regular users of the station but lines during peak times might make it a hassle for foot traffic. Definitely not the best station ETS has to offer along the LRT line but certainly not the worst.

There are no public washrooms at the station and the hospital which I believe is the closest easily accessible washroom is still a bit of a hike up the street. There is a stop in front of the station for the routes 106,4,and 313. The 4 is often a very packed bus but it is worth noting that it as well as the 313 will take you almost to the front door of the cross cancer institute which is nice if you or a relative are receiving treatment there it cuts down on your walking and time spent outside in the elements which can be important if you're unwell. Being a surface station with no fully enclosed shelters can make it a misery in the winter. ETS likes to boast about the heaters they installed there but they installed them so high up to prevent things like vandalism that some days you don't even notice that they are on. Honestly if you can find other connections to get where you're going that don't involve this station I highly recommend it. It is just a minimal surface station that gives off the impression that city council had some extra money laying around the year they built it and decided to use it on an LRT stop.

That will change over time as the South Campus of the University of Alberta starts to expand into this area. I really look forward to that time when this area is hustling and bustling with University Students and Staff. As far as the station goes it is a pretty bare bones outdoor platform. It gets the job done. There is an enclosure to stand-in if the weather is too chilly for you.

I also find it easy to make most of my bus transfers as the buses are quite close to the train compared to some of the other stations. There are some great routes available once you get off the train if your looking to get to the Leger transit center as well as WEM. I find the transit peace officers tend to ignore it in favor of the downtown stations which some may like and others may not. I can honestly say though in three years of using our public transit I have only been stopped for a proof of payment check here once. There are washrooms available over by the buses as well as vending machines. My one and only gripe with this place is the fact the glass shelters to hide from the elements in are not fully enclosed which seems really silly in a city with Winters like ours.

It always feels cold, dirty, and more than a bit creepy in the tunnels/stairwells. I'll often opt for the exit by Hotel Mac instead by the ATB building. And I concur with Lyndsey's experiences of being accosted by intoxicated individuals. This is definitely a stop that I try to only go to with a travelling buddy and during the rushhour commute.

I find it really dirty and have found partially drunken liquor bottles in the stairwells on Mondays after the weekend. I was once down in the station by myself on the weekend waiting for a train after a birthday party and was approached by an extremely intoxicated woman who threatened to hit me after I told her I didn't have a lighter because I don't smoke. I have also noticed a group of several individuals the last few times I have been going home from downtown who hover behind people using the ticket machines to check the change slot after they are done as well as hassle people passing by for bus fare. It makes my skin crawl as I would hate having people stand that close to me when my back is to them and im digging around in my purse or wallet. I second what Nathaniel S has said about the station needing more security. I think it would benefit alot from having two peace officers working just this station at all times.

This is a a relatively new LRT station. It is connected to the surrounding neighborhoods via…read morepedway. You can access the main bus transit station and the mall from one pedway and the other residential neighborhoods via another pedway. During busier times of day there is a convenience store within. Generally it is a pretty useful lrt station if you want to access the mall or bus station or any of the surrounding neighborhoods. It is clean and well-maintained.

This is another one of my personal favorite stations along the LRT line even though it is one of…read morethe busiest. They do a great job of keeping it clean and I like that they have one of those little convenience stores in a good location so it doesn't interfere with the flow of foot traffic like the one at Century Park where the line often cuts you off from the bus schedules. I also like that because it's so close to the mall it's easy to just use the washroom in Southgate before walking over and catching the train which saves me a trip into the sometimes dirty ETS washroom. There isn't as much room as I would like indoors to hide from the elements during winter time but people who come through this station are generally pretty respectful so I don't worry too much about being bothered or having my personal space encroached upon. I wish all of the stations were as good as the one at Southgate.

Don't do it! the drivers are unprofessional the car was flashing the gas light, high beams and the the engine light on!!! My safety is important! I'm going to learn to drive so I can get away from ETS forever.
