Went for the first time yesterday, and I was looking forward to a really tasty burger, but ended up being disappointed. The service was good, but the burger was just "meh." The presentation looked impressive, but at $26 for a bland burger, decent fries, and a soda, overall it just doesn't cut it for me. While eating my boring burger, I think I overheard one of the employees tell another customer that they don't season their patties. If that's the case, perhaps re-think that strategy? There are much better burgers to enjoy throughout Sonoma County. I'm not entirely sure I want to come back, just to have a repeat experience. read more

My sister recommended we eat here and we were very glad we did. They opened at 11am so we drove around a bit and we're surprised how many people arrived right at opening. A good sign for a burger place. The staff was prompt and friendly, eager to help us get what we wanted. We ordered half fries, half onion rings with no problem. The chocolate peanut-butter shake was obviously homemade and delicious. Loved the sesame seed bun with tasty bread-- not sure what kind of bun, but it was good and could handle the size of the burger. The meat was tasty and the patty seemed to be handmade. I order a mushroom provolone burger with added grilled onions, minus the condiments... a burger I usually get any time mushrooms are on the menu. I loved that they put the onions under the patty, cheese and mushrooms on top. It stayed together that way! The mushrooms were delicious and the burger was divine. My husband had a huge cheeseburger with added avocado and bacon. The price was very reasonable when compared with recent prices of fast-food chains. Just under $40 for two people with lots of add-ons, fries, rings, sodas, and the shake. We could have eaten cheaper if there weren't so many great options, lol. The outside dining was clean, freshly painted tables were great and their table napkins were heavy duty. I did quietly let them know afterward that half of my medium-well burger was almost raw (thank heaven I started at the medium end). I was too full to have eaten more, but thought they should know. I was disappointed when I read the reviews just now because the restaurant has way too many comments about meat not fully cooked. I find that inexcusable and I'm mystified as to why they continue to have that problem. I say to the owner and cook, "Fix it! You know you need to, so do it." I took one star off of what should have been a perfect score for that reason. Note: another review said to ask for it smashed and well-done. while waiting to get our order taken, a couple people ended up getting there after us and nothing was said. the sliders were priced at 21$. the burger was originally 11$, with add ons being 1-3$ it ended up being more. the burgers were okay, a solid 6/10 for me. although, my husband said they were 7/10. the surrounding was fairly quiet, it's off a street but it's not that busy. not much parking around, might have to find parking on the street. read more

We were passing through healdberg and needed a place to stop for a bite. Found this gem through Yelp, and I am glad we did. Right away I liked the place. Clean and welcoming, it has a slight old fashioned feel without being too cheesy. The server was great: she had a super bubbly personality and thanked us for stopping by. The music in the background was nice- not too loud, but enough you can sing along if you want (which I heard some employees doing as well). The overall feel if fun and friendly. I would live to co.e back on a warm summer evening and sit on the lovely patio they have. Following the advice if many reviewers, we ordered the garlic fries and shared a medium rate cheese burger. The garlic fries did not disappoint. Fresh cut fries (they have a cool slicer), fresh seasomings, parmesan, and plentiful garlic. The burger was also delicious! Okay, maybe it was just the time and place of it, but a visit to Healdsburger fired on all cylinders! The atmosphere was deliciously old-school. Diners could choose to sit indoors and watch a college football game, or grab a picnic table in the large covered outdoor patio to chat with friends. The music was like a time-warp into the late 1970s - Creedence and BTO and (pre-realityshow-embarrassment) Ozzy. But the best is the food. The garlic fries were ample for sharing and not excessively seasoned. The had a big taste without going too far. Our burgers on this visit were from the main menu and they were both nearly too big to fit in the mouth. Juicy and delicious, the fixings were well chosen and used in appropriate proportion. Done properly too. We asked for "medium" and we got warm pink center. We can't wait to visit again and try one of the specialty burgers. The beer and drink selections were diverse and represented a wide range of tastes. The staff behaved as if they were glad we came, like they were proud to have us over for dinner, and like they were family members who still liked us. I'm getting hungry just writing this review. And maybe Healdburg isn't so far ... it IS a nice day for a drive in Wine Country after all. read more

Came here for the 2nd time in 3 days.. Again the food was amazing!... The ranch dressing is soooo good and the teriyaki chicken sand is awesome. But the only complaint I have is I wish they didn't serve the fries/onion rings 7-10 minutes before the burgers/sandwich. I like to take each bite of my sandwich with fries or onion rings. By them serving them so early we either eat off of the sides or they get too cooled down by the time the burgers/sandwich comes out. Next time I will just ask for the sides with our food. read more

Our friend treated us to this meaty goodness. This is his 'hood and this is his favorite burger joint. I completely underestimated how big these burgers would be. Make sure you get plenty of napkins because yummy will be running all over your face. I got the special of the day, the garlic ranch burger or something like that. We ordered our burgers medium well and was more like medium raw. The husband couldn't quite finish his because of so much pink, but I ate all of mine. So keep in mind to grab a handful of napkins and order your meat a little more done than you'd like. The best part is the outdoor seating where I was able to bring my well behaved doggie. read more

With Healdsburg being such a foodie town, I had high hopes for the hole-in-the-wall Healdsburger. I wanted a perfect burger simply made and perfectly prepared with friendly service. Unfortunately, they didn't deliver. At first glance, the property looked ready to deliver - off the beaten path (nowhere near the Square or tourists), a family feel and great indoor and outdoor dining. Upon entering the restaurant and approaching the counter, we weren't acknowledged; we interacted with staff but didn't even a receive a smile.. The service didn't get any better throughout ordering or during the delivery of our drinks/food. Our order included the Big Daddy with bacon, two kids burgers, three shakes (vanilla/banana/strawberry), regular fries and garlic fries. One plus is that all of the food and shakes were made to order. After receiving our order, here was the breakdown: Shakes - fresh ingredients Fries - square cut and well-salted Garlic fries - forgettable. I can't explain the raves in other reviews. They are covered with the same processed (jarred?) garlic as in other restaurants. The parmesan cheese could be a novelty, but doesn't really add any flavor (falls off). Big Daddy burger - well assembled but completely uncooked in the middle. Bobo burger (kids) - fine, run of the mill burger For a place that is named for their signature item, each and every burger has to deliver. While the kid burgers were average, the larger burger was undercooked (see picture). I like carpaccio and steak tartare, so a little rare meat doesn't bother me. But no one wants that in his/her burger. It seems the cook was inexperienced in grilling a thicker patty and just really left the middle undone. Other than the undercooked burger (beware - if you must go, order 1-2 levels higher in meat doneness than you would anywhere else), the rest of the food and shakes were fine. Not horrible, not amazing. Just average. The staff behaved as if they were doing us a favor by being there. A little friendliness goes a long way in the restaurant biz. No reason to return. The two stars are merely for tasty shakes and providing condiments on the table (normally a loss leader but a real convenience for the customer). read more

I never expected to find such a spectacular, casual restaurant in wine country. We ordered two burgers, truffle fries and a milk shake. I absolutely do not regret any of those choices. My fiance got a bacon and avocado burger while I got a bacon and bleu cheese burger. Both were phenomenal. The milkshake (malt) was also spectacular. It wasn't quite as good as my coveted milkshake from Crown Candy back in St. Louis, but it absolutely satisfied my milkshake craving and it was very worth ordering. Lastly, the truffle fries were spectacular. They were flavorful and well cooked. The service was fast, friendly and knowledgable. Ordered the special -- good deal to give you a buck off the beer. Ordered pulled pork sandwich with fries & a drink -- instead of the free soda, they knocked off a buck from my beer (bottle selection decent enough -- drafts a bit disappointing). Fries are served overflowing the paper tray and onto the baking tray in sufficient quantity that there's enough of the spillover to satisfy your appetite -- I took the extra (pretty much everything that didn't fall out of the paper tray) home for left-overs with breakfast. Food takes forever and is mediocre at best- they can't cook fries to save their life and the only people who think their milkshakes are thick and creamy are those getting paid to say so- but like yeah, whatever, it's a nicer spot than McDonalds and it doesn't seem like Healdsburg has a lot of options when it comes to locals wanting dinner. I am a burger fanatic. When I found out that someone had taken over the old A&W drive in and renamed it Healdsburger, I was like, I am there!. We used to ride our bikes into A&W and bring empty milk jugs, and they would fill them with root beer. Gas forward about forty years, now it is Healdsburger. It is the same building, lots of parking, but not alot of seating. The seating they do have , is both inside and out and kind of dated and dirty. I did not come here for there chairs though, I came because I heard they have delicious homemade hamburger's. The Burgers are huge, with a good size fresh meat patty. Onions, lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese top it. The bun had been grilled and had a slight crunch. You had a choice of fries or onion rings. This is a really good burger, check it out. read more
