I got a much needed haircut from Rosemary! During COVID, I pretty much butchered my hair trying to do it at home. Thank goodness to the rescue of Rosemary. She also trimmed my daughter's hair very carefully. FYI, my daughter is super picky and hates Supercuts who just randomly chop off hair. They have a private space outdoors in the back parking lot set up during COVID so you don't need feel embarrassed getting seen on the streets while you are getting treatments. I love the low-keyed vibe of this salon, its wide-open layout, and the easy parking. But my favorite part of it is Irina. While I always insist on a shoulder-length bob, she's managed to layer it so it never looks like a mom 'do. She also keeps my bangs just long enough, and forces me to never, ever trim them myself. The highlights she gives me are subtle, but they brighten me up. Roots grow in naturally, not shockingly. Last, her pricing is much better than I got in my last two salons. I'm terribly upset about my hair after Irina's job and I was crying about the condition of my hair afterwards My hair broke off, the bleach was overexposed, (especially my end) I had been previously with 2 other stylists, so I have something to compare with (the technique and etc) After the previous coloring, hair was breaking only a month after bleaching, after this time - the same day! Now my hair is in such a bad condition after her job! My hair is burned now! very dry!!! super thin and in very bad condition!!!! The stylist put olaplex only for 2 minutes, instead of 20! that is why it didn't work !!! my hair is usually very soft and easy to brush after olaplex , but not this time. I am very very upset. The color is gross - not blonde but orange , there are no stripes on the front as I asked, the color is gray, dirty, I do not like it at all. She did highlights and I asked for balayage. Half the bottom of the head is not colored at all!!! I tried to reach stylist afterwards, I said her that I'm not satisfied with the job, she never responded or reacted or said sorry. I had to go to another stylist for restoration and coloring and payed more money. And I payed Irina $200 already for bad job. Would never come back. read more

I had an awful experience back in May as my first haircut after 1+ year into COVID. I had a bad feeling going into the salon, which I should have acknowledged and gone elsewhere. I had no idea that this salon was rent by space as non of it the marketing I came across indicated. Given I have seldom time to myself, I went in w/ false hope. My haircut was awful, I asked the hairdresser if she knew was doing what I asked, she became defensive...and very unprofessional. We all dread finding a new stylist.. Because you really don't know what you're going to get until the deed's been done. And it requires a lot of shopping around before you find "The One." Fortunately for me, she's local and had a fairly open & accommodating schedule.. Her name is Emily Wyant, and she's a peach! When I initially made my appointment at Headlines I was a little nervous because I hadn't been able to find any reviews on her, but the receptionist assured me that she had a ton of experience and I would be happy with the results. I scheduled an appointment for a haircut and color.. still skeptical! On the day of my appointment, I tentatively sat in my chair and watched the magic unfold. She was amazing! I think she understood my needs right away and opened up a dialogue about my hair and addressed all my concerns. I would hate to be my own stylist because I think I can be very challenging, but she took it all in stride and asked me questions before making any major decisions about my bangs, or the way my hair would layer, the tone and color, heaviness, etc. I walked out of the salon that day very, very pleased. About two days later; however, I noticed that my hair had too much brassiness/red for my taste.. I just sent her a text message and she scheduled me in for the following day-- Just like that! When I came in she took a look at my hair color and recommended a blue toner. While we were waiting for it to set, she told me about how she was in the middle of selecting a tablet and hair software for her clients. She's going to try to use multimedia tools to help her clients explore different colors and styles! I was really impressed by how much passion and dedication she had, and liked how attentive and receptive she was to my needs and concerns. This review is for Emily @ Headlines Salon/ Celebrate Your Hair.... Emily is AMAZING! The before and after pictures speak for themselves! They're located in my picture gallery... I found her on Yelp and was impressed by all the good reviews she had so I decided to check it out for myself... We had a consultation appointment and I could immediately tell that she really knew her stuff. If you're going to make a drastic change to your hair, you want to work with someone that is not only skilled but also knows their product- and that would be Emily. :) I called, met up with her less than a week later and just two days after our consultation, we were able to sit down and put them in. Amazingly fast! We did all over tape-in hair extensions and I was blown away by the results. I looked like a completely different person but in a new and improved sorta way. :) Even the woman sitting next to me getting her hair done was intrigued and started inquiring about hair extensions LOL. This is one of the only hair stylists that I think I'd feel comfortable enough recommending to all my friends- Emily just knows her stuff (and uses a lot of Bumble and Bumble products too, yay!) but she's also the type of hairstylist that wants you to leave the salon looking and feeling good. It doesn't hurt that she's pleasant to be around either. 5 stars all around! As the proprietor of SiliconValleyChic.com, I spend a lot of time trying new local service providers, based on recommendations and research. This review is about Emily Wyant. Emily has been nominated as Best in Hair several times and will be featured on our homepage later this month. The following is my personal experience: I've been seeing her for about 10 months. I came in with fried platinum blond hair and major loss of length due to damage. She repaired a good deal of the damage, fixed the color and later installed tape extensions for me. I don't recommend tape at this point due to how unwieldy it is, but she has a bunch of new attachment options now. She's taken my tone from bleached-to-hell to natural and complimentary to my skin and face shape. On a personal note, I've never seen her be anything but pleasant to everyone and look forward to hearing about what new cool things she's looking into and pursuing. I mention that because the last hair diva who made my hair look great was very unpleasant as a person and it made me dread going to my appointments. I always look forward to seeing Emily! read more

Ugh, I love Irina so much I almost don't want to review her. Seriously, don't go to her, she seriously sucks. NO, she doesn't. She is, by far, 1 of my favorite colorist/stylist (I have another friend who does color/styling and she is my other fave but shhh! don't tell anyone). I pride myself on my hair and baby it. I am VERY selective about who touches my hair. Irinas' prices are always reasonable, but on top of this, she is your stereotypical stylist. Have a problem with your personal life? Fill her in on the details and she will dispense invaluable advice. She is the one who gave me the tip to go to Sausalito for 4th of July, where you are treated to Sausalito's fireworks display in addition to San Francisco and Oaklands. She was able to make my long black hair (my natural hair color is jet black. Hey I'm Italian and Native American, what choice do I have?) to blonde without a problem. For some reason, people think I look like Anna Paquin so I went blonde recently for Halloween. A couple months ago, she even convinced me to get bangs.Now, let me tell you ... I *HATE* bangs (had them a long time ago and OMG they took forever to grow out!) but she scoffed and said "NO! we're going to do a side swept style". Not only do I La-HUVE them(!!), but they give my face a nice frame and the perfect amount of volume. 2 weeks later, I read in a celebrity stylist blog that side swept bangs are the new "it" hair style this Fall/Winter. Wow! She must be psychic or needs to become a celebrity stylist ASAP! Every 5 months, she does the Keratin treatment and she is the best at it and doesn't overcharge. Gone are the days of spending 800.00 on the "other" straightening systems. Also, the salon is right next to The Refuge so my husband always gets a Pastrami Sandwich for dinner on the nights of my hair appointment. My husband always loves my hair when I get home. I'm a Production Coordinator for a Video Game company and even the guys that I work with compliment my hair the next day. A guy that notices hair?? If that's not enough proof, honey, don't bother getting a FABulous hair style from her 'cause it would be lost on you. But, like I said, really, no reason for you to bother going ;) read more

I really wish I could give this place 5 stars like everyone else has. I wanted to like it and was hopeful that I had finally found a regular place to end my days as a salon whore. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't that great. I felt like I was a rush job and I also felt that I was not listened to when trying to explain what I wanted in a haircut. It's possible that I absolutely suck at communicating my needs, but I just went to a place today (to get this cut "fixed") that was less than half the price of Headlines, and the sylist spent twice the time and gave me the exact cut I was looking for. I might not have judged this place so harshly if I had left feeling like I could go back if I wasn't happy, but I was not under that impression. For the money I spent - I'm not totally thrilled. Had my hair colored for the first time ever and got a trim. Spent way too long under the dryer and felt a little neglected. My cut took only a few minutes and the way it was styled left me looking sloppy - even after saying I wanted to look good for an evening event. I will have to try another place next time. read more

I hate having to write a negative review, but we had a terrible experience with Francisca. We went to her for the first time today to cut my 13 year old son's hair. He came in with longish hair that fell about an inch over his eyes and about half way down his ears. I was with him when he explained what he wanted - a little bit shorter on the sides and back and still a pretty long sweep (to his eyebrows) on the front/top. A trim. After he gave her a detailed description of what he wanted, I shared with her that a few years ago he'd had a bad experience with another stylist who gave him a buzz cut when he'd asked for a trim - and I jokingly asked her not to repeat that trauma. We also told her that he's leaving for sleep away camp in a few days and needed a "no maintenance" cut that didn't require any product. A few minutes later she came to me and said "Your son is upset, he thinks I cut too much". I went over to the chair and was totally stunned to see that she had buzzed his hair! She had only done the sides and back when he stopped her, but at that point I had to let her take a lot off the top too because it looked ridiculously out of proportion. So I just had to stand there and watch his eyes fill with tears as she gave him an all around super short haircut! You can literally see his scalp through the fuzz that's left. And although she did blend it in a little, it still has a mushroom feel with the whole top section out of proportion with the bottom 2/3s. It looks like a ridiculous 80's boy-band wannabe cut with the added bonus of random chunks cut into it and lots of uneven areas. I asked why she'd done that and she said "oh, it was a miscommunication" She basically just shrugged it off and told him "you're a boy - it'll grow back quickly" and "if you use enough gel it will lay down flat" (again, we specifically said he needed a style that DIDN'T require a lot of work this summer!) She did finally apologize but clearly had no real sympathy for him and how upsetting it is to be a kid that age and have all your hair chopped off unexpectedly! She kept telling him how good it looked. (Which is not true - it looks awful). But even if it did technically look good, the point is it was exactly the opposite of what he wanted. She didn't charge me "because you're not happy with it". That was a nice gesture, but believe I'd much rather have paid full price and had a kid who was happy - not in tears. I gave two stars (instead of 1 or zero) because the salon itself is very nice. They were great during the scheduling process, have a nice coffee station with cookies for guests, and have a generally nice atmosphere. I'd just advise working with Francisca for a boys haircut - maybe she's better at other things. read more

The salon isn't much to look at from the outside and it's not the poshest place in town, but it's friendly, efficient, clean, great staff, and good music (music is important when sitting some place for 2 hours!) Dana Wisdom has been cutting my hair for two years, I switched to her from Stilo in Redwood Shores. Her prices are more competitive, her color is far better, if needed she is FAST ( can't stand the 3.5 hour hair appt when paying for babysitting time!), and the salon is far more comfortable than Stilo. My biggest complaint? they need better magazines. Bring a book or a magazine if you are going to be there a while..... read more

Jim, it turns out has been in the same location for 21 years! He gave me a great cut and a great perm. It doesn't get better than Francisca! I recently moved here from the Midwest. I have always been a little scared to get my hair done because every time I went they never listened. I love to keep long hair even if it may be disgusting and dead. I have also taken pictures in to show people what I want yet every time I finally caved it wasn't close or they cut off way to much. Hard stylists are hard to come by. Francisca not only is extremely personable but an amazing stylist. I showed her exactly what I wanted and bam that's what I got! I was looking for a new hair stylist to help me make some serious changes to my hair and look. Naturally I have thick black wavy hair and I wanted to go lighter towards a more blonde caramel brown mix without any tacky highlights. This salon is very large with many stylists, products to purchase, nice waiting area in the center of the salon. Keratin, color and cut. Excellent. A girlfriend recommended Irina and it took me a few years to go. I had gotten the dreaded Rachel a year back (hello? who does that?), grew it out and didn't feel ready to trust anyone. So it was way past my shoulders and a little sad. I met up with Irina and she instantly knew what to do. I didn't like my texture and she suggested Keratin for my frizzy state. I only kept it long so that the weight would keep my hair from becoming too wild, other wise, I'd look like an 80s pop star. Initial cut and color looked awesome. A month later, keratin. It was a lengthy process and her colorful conversation made the time fly by. She is extremely professional and very attentive to shaping my hair. For the initial days, my hair was stick straight and I got the ooohs and ahhhs from friends. Afterward, I experienced sleek rocker chick hair. And now my hair is smooth and silky with good volume. I'm told that the keratin will last 4-6mos but I'll probably see Irina again for a color treatment way before that. I waited to write the review after a month, so I could give an honest yelp about the outcome. I LOVE my hair. Finally, thanks to Irina. Overall, Irina is a talented hair professional. I've been with Cheri now for over a year and a half and have not once not liked my hair. That says a lot for her talents. In the past I have been one of those people who tries a stylist for a little while and moves on. I let Cheri do what she wants to my hair with general guidelines (long, cut shorter, go dark, etc). She is amazing at color. From my previous posts you will see that's how I started with her and I still LOVE the way she colors my hair. Today, I went DARK for fall and I love, love, love it! She's also doing the Keratin Smoothing Complex and her rates are really good for this hair straightening process. I can't recommend her enough! Dana Wisdom is AMAZING!! I've been going to her for about 5 years now and would follow her anywhere. My hair is much healthier since I've started going to her for color, highlights, cuts. She gives her honest opinion about what would look good on me, which has saved me from some very bad decisions. I can seriously bring in a picture of what I want and she can match it perfectly. There have been times when the color I chose didn't look right in the end and Dana will redo it until it's perfect. Everyone at the salon is friendly and professional. I moved to the area about six months ago, and of course you're nervous about who your hair stylist should be. Well, I let my sister do all the leg work. She had moved here a few months before me, and had found Nina somehow (I'll have to ask her how later). Anyway, who cares! Now we have Nina! I have very long brown straight hair and bangs. My sister is also a brunette with a lot of body to her hair -- no bangs. My sister and I both get our hair colored, although I think my sister just does highlights. Up until meeting Nina, I liked to go with just one color all over. I'm a woman in my late 30s, and I just felt like this is a professional look. Well, Nina has me rethinking this whole thing. Nina is such a smart, creative person. She takes workshops and classes in her off-time and thinks about you and your hair when she's not at work. I went in the other day, and she said, oh, I was thinking about something we could try. And it came out amazing. She put in these darker panels of color in my hair paired with a kind of auburn color we've been going with. She would probably cringe if she saw this review because I'm sure I'm not doing this justice. It's like if someone else tried to describe my job and didn't say it right. Let me put it this way: My hair still looks incredibly classy; she has put in a few subtle layers; I still have kick-ass bangs; but it's fresher than before; I feel more confident than before; there's something more modern that makes me walk taller than before. So if you know anything about hair, ignore the technique I was describing, which is undoubtedly a disaster and just try Nina out. Also, you'll just love her because she's truly a wonderful person.
