Hi Ariana, we are part of the San Mateo Healthy Nail Salon Program and we do not use toxic products, our nail polishes Dazzle Dry are vegan as well and dry in 5 minutes. Any Pedicure on our online Menu is suitable for pregnancy. Hope to see you.

As a client, I always voice when something is too deep to the point of pain but therapists do not know our threshold - it's important to be communicative during treatment. Nobody rushed me with "hello what do you want" or shoved a color wall in my face before I even sat down. I actually felt like a person, not just another number to get in and out. It wasn't until I was sitting there that I realized how used to bad treatment I'd gotten. Other salons trained me without me even noticing, packed into a tiny space, treated like I'm on a conveyor belt, rushed out before my nails even had time to properly dry. I had honestly forgotten my time and my experience mattered. Delane's brought that back for me. The professionalism was on another level too. No games with the price going up if you don't tip in cash, which is honestly tacky and rude and tells you exactly how little they think of their customers. Towels were fresh, equipment looked properly cleaned, none of that murky blue water sitting in a dirty container that's clearly been there for who knows how long. From the moment I walked into AvantGard Spa until the moment I left, the experience was exceptional. The customer service was warm, welcoming, and professional from start to finish. The spa itself is beautiful. It smells absolutely amazing, is impeccably clean, and has such a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. Everything feels modern, spotless, and exceptionally well maintained. Even the massage table was incredibly comfortable, with soft, smooth, pristine linens that made the experience feel even more luxurious. The only thing I wish the spa offered was a shower, but honestly, that was the only thing I felt was missing. I booked the AvantGard Five Star package, and I can honestly say it was worth every penny. This 80-minute experience includes customized aromatherapy oils, a full-body massage, a therapeutic dry brush treatment, a detoxifying Moroccan Rhassoul mud back treatment, and warm Himalayan stones. Every part of the experience flowed beautifully, leaving me feeling completely relaxed, refreshed, and recharged. If you're considering this package, don't hesitate--it's one of the best spa experiences I've ever had. As for my massage therapist, Pacha, he is truly one of the best massage therapists I've had in a long time. In fact, I told him he officially ranks in my top three massages I've ever received. He is incredibly skilled, professional, attentive, and genuinely passionate about his work. He guided me through my breathing when needed, paid close attention to what my body needed, and never made the session feel rushed. I am extremely disappointed with the service my daughter received at Avant Gard Spa in San Carlos, CA, and feel compelled to share my experience. I booked a facial for my teenage daughter, who has acne-prone skin that tends to get very congested. When scheduling the appointment, I was very clear that the primary goal was to pair her with a professional who would thoroughly extract as many impurities as possible to help clear her skin. I have had great results with other professionals at this spa in the past, which is why I trusted them with this service. Unfortunately, Andrea, the esthetician assigned to my daughter, barely performed any extractions at all. Despite my daughter's skin needing significant attention, she left the appointment with almost no improvement. It was clear that Andrea either did not have the willingness to provide the level of care we expected, as I was able to do very successful at-home extractions right after the service, without any concerns of my daughter's skin not being "ready" for extractions, as Andrea put it. I have to say, this experience left my daughter and I feeling like we wasted both time and money. When I reached out to express my concerns, instead of handling the situation professionally, the spa manager, Jessica dismissed my complaint and refused to offer any resolution. Shockingly, rather than working things out, the manager chose to ban me from the establishment--simply because I voiced my dissatisfaction. They even accused me of being "disruptive," which is completely untrue. To make matters worse, instead of offering to speak with me directly, they handled the entire exchange through email, avoiding a real conversation. A business that values its clients should stand behind its services and ensure customer satisfaction, not shut down communication and ban paying customers for raising valid concerns. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. If you are looking for a spa that prioritizes client care and delivers real results, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. read more

Hot damn. I just got back from my first spa treatment at AvantGard, and I felt compelled to write a Yelp review. (And that's about the only thing I feel compelled to do.) I don't "spa" a lot, so I don't have a lot to compare this experience to other than Glow. (I usually go to Glow for eyebrows and such, and have had 1-2 massages in the past.) Glow is a great place. But Avant Gard is so much more "spa like." Whereas Glow feels like a peppy summer afternoon, a quick eyebrow wax, catching up with people I like, warm-friendliness, AvantGard felt like melting into a pool of islandy, aromatherapy, muscle-mushening awesomeness. Like I had gone to Tahiti or Hawaii and was just immersed in relaxation and amazing smells, and things that gave me chills, and now all I want to do is lay around the rest of the day - in a good way. Different potions and powders and healing creams around every corner, and I got to sit in a candle-lit bathtub for 25 minutes before it all started, which was also amazing. In addition to providing the best massage I've had in a LONG TIME - there are a lot of great products, cool "spa" things like almonds, cranberries, magical non-caffeinated green tea, and all sorts of other things that go along with your massage. I also liked how my masseuse was almost clinical in her recommendations of things to further my relaxation-development, relieve tension - that is always reassuring to me. All in all, A+. I've been going to AvantGard since my first ever eyebrow wax in 2001. In the beginning I used to treat myself to a facial once a month which was an amazing treat. I think I even fell asleep a few times while tucked in the blankets of the heated bed. However, now that I am poor, I stick to the necessity's....the bikini wax. My first bikini wax I had was at a certain spa at stanford shopping center. It took place in a medical looking room, with an older woman who had a european accent. I was so shocked by the pain that I was laughing, to which she responded " you asked for this". At one point another employee even walked in the room while I was butt naked in an awkward position. HELL NO, never again. I finally figured I'd give Avantgard a shot since I loved the facials and eyebrow waxes. OMG, what a difference. I get to lay on a bed, in a nice room with a nice person who doesn't make me uncomfortable. I love Caroline cause she chats it up with me the whole time and takes my mind off the fact that I'm holding my naked leg over my head. She's AMAZiNG and so funny! i could never go anywhere else. I recently had a massage with Pacha, and I can't recommend them enough! As a healthcare professional, I'm always mindful of how important it is to take care of my body, and Pacha really impressed me with their approach. They were incredibly attentive to every detail, listening to my concerns and tailoring the session to focus on relieving tension in the areas that needed it most. What stood out to me was their holistic approach to healing. Not only did they provide a fantastic massage that eased the tension in my shoulders and back, but they also empowered me with stretches and techniques to help maintain that relief. In a day where everyone advertises themselves as "day spa's," this is the real deal. The receptionist and spa staff are incredibly helpful and thoughtful. I had to change my reservations a couple of different times and they were really accommodating. Once I arrived, they were pleasant, friendly and willing to work with me when I wanted to change services upon arrival. The quality of the facial was great with no breakouts or reactions afterwards. I've also had massages here and they are terrific. Overall, the spa is well done, comfortable and just feels like I place you want to spend time in. I've been going to this spa on and off for about 5 years. i have had many of their staff work on me....since turn over in the business is quite frequent....yet all of them have been very professional and kind. service is wonderful and they do a great job of making you feel welcomed and relaxed. their front desk is especially helpful, once when they messed up my appointment they comped a percent of it. now thats great customer service! they are always pleasant and make the end of your spa experience great. The only thing i would like is a relaxation room after your service which more and more spas seem to have, a place to somewhat "wake up" after your relaxing service. but all in all a great spa to really be pampered at! read more

I love this spa. It is beautiful and relaxing each time I visit. My regular massage therapist was not working so I tried Laurie Light and she is WONDERFUL. This was probably my best massage ever. She is gifted, truly a gifted massage therapist. Everything was perfect, the pressure, everything. I was so pleased that I booked another massage with her immediately, this one for 80 min. I'm on a budget so I massage is usually a treat for me but after this visit with Laurie, I think it needs to be a regular thing for me. I really enjoyed the entire experience. I went to this place not for a massage but to look for a gift to buy my girlfriend. I guess i could have just bought her a massage but i didnt think of that till now!! wow, i'm stupid. Anyway, i went there to find maybe some nice candles or some kind of foo-foo lotion. They had a lot of nice things i didn't even think of. I can't speak for the rest of the staff, but there was a really nice helpful girl named diana that helped me out and make a decision. I have been coming here for over a year and started my Bridal package facials with Gail. Thanks to Gail for making me beautiful for my wedding, for offering me advice and for being my friend. The Salon is so beautiful and relaxing that you will feel that you have come back from vacation after every treatment. This is my favorite place to treat myself too after a long week, month or year. The massages here are awesome, I wish I could come in more often for one. I also love the pedicures, they do a great job. Its worth the money to me for the service and the spa seems clean and up to date. Most of the time I experience good service, however sometimes there are people who seem to be having an off day or maybe are new to the place that arent the best, but its rare that becomes an issue. Love this spa! But more importantly I love getting my facials and waxing done by Arienna Gale. Her facials are fabulous! She is a perfectionist and takes her time as well as gentle to the touch. I can't say enough about her waxing also. When I first came to her I basically had no arch to my eyebrows. She was able to perfectly craft an arch which no one has been able to achieve in the past. I haven't been to Avante in awhile so I'm due to go back soon. I've had a pedicure and manicure from here, both of which were heavenly, and I've had a massage, a facial, and a series of microdermabrasion sessions. i have been happy with everything every single time, from the staff, to the amazing ambience of the place. Great way to rejuvinate yourself for the rest of the week. the packages are fairly priced and the staff is very good. I have gone here with the girls on short notice it doesnt take more than 2 days to get a spot. Definetly try them. The nurses seem knowledgeable. Plus, everyone is extremely friendly. Parking is also not too bad around this area. I can't recall the names of the nurses that I've had so far, but both were so nice and easy to chat with. I like that they also don't pressure you. During a consult at another location, that nurse told me all of the different areas that I could get Botox in. Sure, that may be helpful for someone, but I don't personally want that. And the nurses here get that. My only gripe is that this med spa is a tad far for me, but that's a me problem...!

It's also easy to navigate their website and make an appointment online either with your favorite esthetician, a female/male esthetician, or ANY esthetician. Additionally, their prices are just so competitive for the Bay Area. Lastly, they have their own little parking lot in addition to street parking on a fairly calm street so parking is easy to find. My only issue with Glow is that they don't always answer the phone or return messages. However, I think this might be more related to staffing issues and not so much that they're choosing not to answer the phone. Overall, I recommend Glow for your next wax!

At the front desk, we still tipped almost 15%. The front desk lady proceeded to question us, make faces, wave our cash around, and overall make us feel very uncomfortable. We are repeat customers and have purchased massage packages. In the past, we've tipped 40% for great massages, but we aren't going to get bullied into excessive tips for subpar service. We won't come back again if this continues.
