I had my first session with Colleen last week. I let her know I pulled a calf muscle and lot of tightness on my shoulders/neck. She suggested deep tissue and a sports massage which was a great call. I actually fell asleep for a moment but I also felt the strength of her technique. Hard to put into words the amazing job Colleen does. She is a master of her craft. After a terrible experience at another place years ago Colleen was a godsend. She asked questions on our first meeting so she could determine what type of massage would best fit me and her recommendations were right on point. I emailed Colleen asking if she had a last minute appointment and I was lucky enough to get it. Never visited her before but her reviews were good so I figured she's in my neighborhood, let's take a chance. And OH DEAR she's a fantastic masseuse. Her studio is in a quiet office park. Parking is free and easy. Everything looks like regular business offices but once you step inside Colleen's studio you're whisked away to a calm oasis. Her studio smells good, everything is clean, and I felt very calm once I entered her studio. I asked for a sports specific massage as I do alot of dance and my legs are taxed alot. I am a former college football player and now I am a serious golf and an business professional , CPA. Which means I have nagging issues from my days as an athlete and the muscle tightness, aches, and pains that comes from the stress of sitting at a desk all day everyday. On top of that, I am practicing to join the PGA tour one day, and yes this means even more back pain. I first tried going to Kaiser for help. They wanted to give me pills and send me to a physical therapist that seem to enjoy shocking me with electronic sticky tape... Needless to say, this did not work well. I also tried acupuncture, this did help but still needed the help from a well-trained therapist who actually wanted to see me feel better for the longer term and not for the hour session. I was giving up on ever not feeling tight, sore, and uncomfortable with chronic neck and shoulder pain. Colleen was able to really make a change in my circumstance. She really took time to understand me and my physical issues. This really allowed for her to focus on the root of what was causing me to have such chronic pain. I was taken back on how well she was able to provide immediate relief while helping me to develop a plan to gain long-term physical comfort. Since working with her I have gain great flexibility in my chest (had a torn pectoral muscle a year ago), great flexibility in my upper and lower back, and have had less migraines (once every other week vs. several per week).Needless to say, I have seen an increase in distance of all my golf clubs and dropped my handicap by a few strokes!
