The receptionist claimed to be my masseuse and game me a pseudo hot stone 'touch' rather than a deep tissue message. Inspite of constantly asking her to go deeper into my pain areas she just barely kept touching me and told me that going inside tissues is not needed for pain relief. Hot towels and hot stone touch will do the trick Not only that, she kept commenting on how my body was fat , my digestion was off and I should eat less sugar. It doesn't end here - she asked me to pay with Venmo at the end and refused to take any other form of payment. Serenity - have you outsourced your business to some jerk who is abusing your client base? I don't think I will ever return and I would advise for anyone not to go here either. I've been to Watercourse Way but prefer a smaller operation. Katie at the front desk is always so friendly and warm! Just had an amazing firm Swedish massage with Amy! It really was more like massage therapy because she was so helpful in stretching out my problem areas. The first time I came was for a facial years ago and it made a deep impression so I finally came back for a massage and it didn't disappoint! After reading some of the great reviews, I booked the Trio Relaxing Massage - "Our Trio Massage combines with hot stone, feet reflexology and aroma oil into one amazing massage designed to relax you from head to toe." Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience. My massage therapist was running late, so the receptionist offered to start things off by using a massage gun. It was a bit uncomfortable and felt rushed...and I wasn't sure if she was even trained. Things started to go downhill from there. I got yelled at because I was under the "wrong" sheet on the table and the only positive way I can describe the massage is "vigorous". She had one speed/pressure only, even after I asked her for a little less pressure. If you like deep tissue massages, she is probably great, but this experience was not for me. In addition, there was no hot stone included...unless they're counting the hot towel used to wipe off the oil. She also applied lengthy pressure on various points...not sure if these were intended to be acupressure points?, but it was not enjoyable. Shout out to Annie at Serenity for consistently awesome esthetician services! I get a regular lash tint, brow tint, and brow wax from her, and sometimes leg waxing too. I didn't realize until Annie that waxing should not shred the skin off your legs. (Who knew?) Annie is very, very good (and works Sundays!) plus has an amazing, fun personality that I look forward to every time. I am extremely particular about my eyebrows, and Annie has really nailed the shape and color that I like. Katie is the best receptionist in America, handling everything and everyone with skill and a smile. You cannot go wrong at Serenity. I was a customer of Teri's at TLC spa before Serenity (and she still sees clients occasionally) but Serenity has expanded on her vision, and is now guided by Sarah. There are multiple treatment rooms at the Atherton location. Massages, facials, etc. All the staff are incredible. It's a nice, quiet, small place with personal service and excellent professionals. Leave the big salon attitude to places like La Belle and Skin Spirit. Not to mention their prices, omg. I'll take Serenity any day, and especially Annie. Had a relaxing girl's post-holiday spa afternoon atSerenity Day Spa yesterday. The place is very nice, clean and comfortable, and the receptionist was friendly and very accommodating. It is very conveniently located on El Camino, very close to Celia's Mexican Restaurant, with easy parking right out front. It is a small place, 3 treatment rooms, only 1 bathroom and a nice sitting area in the entry. We were the only people there so I felt comfortable sitting in my robe, but if there were a lot of other people coming and and out, maybe not? We were offered water or tea and small snacks while waiting. We all had facials and massages. 2 of 3 of us were highly satisfied with our services. No complaints from us - Wendy and Pim were great! One of my friends gave it a good but not great. She had both her treatments in the same room and by the same person. I think The treatment room was more for skin care than for massage. She said the table was hard and the head rest/cradle was uncomfortable and needed to use a towel (not a massage table). The massage was a bit awkward, she felt exposed a few times and the therapist did not massage her head. Her therapist left right afterward, before we could tip, so maybe she was having an off day? I arrived early for a 75min massage with Manee. She took me back late. The massage was somewhat mechanical with too much time massaging through the blanket. Also too much time between changing to different body areas. The massage ended on time but was only 70min. When I went to checkout I was asked how massage was and I mentioned that massage was only 70min but person said nothing. I left less of a tip then I would have if better massage and for the full 75min. read more

Before coming here, I loved getting facials and massages, but had been to so many other places that try to sell products after (sometimes even during) the sessions which is the opposite of relaxing for me. Serenity, however, doesn't do any of that. Tried the microdermabrasion & facial first. Brittany was my esthetician. She was friendly, warm, funny, helpful and honest. The second time I had her, she didn't think I needed the service I had originally booked so she charged me less. She also put me at ease for my treatment, and gave me a big hug for my upcoming wedding before I left. Just all around a lovely lady. The rooms are immaculate, the atmosphere is relaxing, the decor is tasteful and the services are amazing. Due to my time and commute restrictions, I'd lost touch with my favorite massage therapist of all time: Manee. After suffering several repetitive use injuries years ago--and then compounding that with Swimmer's Shoulder--I've become a discerning connoisseur of massage therapists. It is hard for me to over-state how Manee stands out in terms of skill, intelligence, her wide-ranging toolbox of techniques, compassion, and sincere kindness. While I'd probably never turn away any type of massage, I lack time and money to waste on a session that will not create some lasting change in my muscle "stickiness." Oh, and give my overwrought nervous system a break. I'm thrilled to find Manee at Serenity Day Spa. I was able to make a last minute reservation for an hour deep tissue massage with Jun. So grateful. I was greeted by the friendly receptionist, who brought me water and treats. When I met my masseuse, Jun, she gently shook my hand and my first thought was- oh no. I don't think she's going to give me a strong enough massage. Boy, was I wrong! Jun immediately got into my tense areas: neck and shoulders. When she really got into my neck, I felt it down to my knee caps. Ooooooooh. She really focused on my back because that's where I needed it most. It was apparent that she read my notes because she used lighter pressure where I asked. I asked her a few questions, which she answered and then she was quiet, which I so appreciated. She also included a wild orange essence oil for free. At the end of the hour, I thought- next time, I have to get 90 minutes. The space is warm and welcoming. Beautiful but unpretentious. Jun was sweet, mindful and strong.
