Agree with other reviewers who said this is a place to come for the beer, not for the food. Which I can't exactly fault them for -- it's a brewery. But given that they do have food on the menu, and a pretty decently sized menu at that, I was hoping the food would be better than it was. Came on a hot Saturday afternoon and it was really busy. We were lucky we managed to swoop on one of the only remaining tables left (like many breweries, seating is self-served and you order at the counter). So just keep that in mind if you're trying to come here with a group. We also got lucky that it was in the shade; with the breeze blowing, it was a nice experience. Not too loud, just people enjoying the beautiful weather and drinks. Service was friendly and the food came out pretty fast after ordering. My husband tried the Hawk Hill beer and liked it, but the four of us in our group were pretty underwhelmed by the food. The smash burgers ($10.50) had a nice grilled flavor and were tasty, but they were really small; I'd recommend making it a double for $13 if you're hoping for a more satisfying meal. They also come with potato chips (and not very many) on the side, which isn't the ideal side for a burger. They can't do fries because they have a really small kitchen, so that was a little disappointing. The burger was also a little too simple, just grilled onions, pickles, special sauce, and cheese. Nothing you'd go out of your way for, just something to wash down with your drink if you're feeling peckish. One of the group got the Costa sausage ($11.50) and also felt underwhelmed by it. Just ok, not great. The carnachos ($13.50) were the most successful dish, but note that it's not really sharable. Maybe between two people at most, if that. A nice place to sit and have a drink for beer drinkers, but not really a food destination. read more

Great selection of beer and awesome service! My wife and I came here on a Sunday afternoon. We had a smash burger and the sausage plate. Really enjoyed everything we ate and drank. The outside area was very nice too. Only negative for her and I were the very large number of children running around. We tried to move away from the kids a few times, but they were absolutely everywhere. I understand that for a business to be financially successful, they want to cater to everyone. For us, when we go to a brewery, we expect a more adult oriented atmosphere. We would likely be back, but maybe during school time or earlier on a weekday or something. The number of kids was a lot. Almost felt like a chuck e cheese. This might be my new favorite spot in Lafayette. My sister and I were finally able to come here and check this place out. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. We both got a sample since it was our first time and we wanted to try a lot of the beers. We then went out to the front patio and sat by a fire place. There were also heaters above if we got cold. They have a lot of outdoor seating which is nice in these times! I did see they had sausages and nachos and were told that they do tacos on Tuesday and Smash burgers on the weekends! Next time I will try the food but we already had dinner plans at Locanda Postino behind it. We will definitely be back though and is a great place to meet friends! read more

Stopped in for a late lunch, after a trip up to the Concord Habit for Humanity ReStore location from Fremont. What a nice experience! The Pt. Bonita Pilsner was even better on draft than from my usual cans at home. My wife loved the craft no-sugar ice tea on tap too. The Food! Smash burger(double), Costa dog, and pretzel were all great looking, and delicious! We had a great 2 topper overlooking the lower gated area. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Came here with a group of friends on a Thursday evening and had a fantastic time! The customer service is phenomenal! It was drizzly and quite cold on the evening of our outing here and all of the staff made sure we were comfortable by turning on the heat lamps, moving them around for us, and also giving us warm, cozy blankets. Unfortunately, I'm not much of a beer drinker, so I mainly stuck with their house Rose' and Chardonnay. And boy... do they have a heavy pour! I'm definitely not complaining :) And since it was Thursday, Headlands was also serving their popular street tacos, which were delicious! Cooked up right in front of you, they were hot, fresh, and addicting. Headlands Brewing Company has plenty of outdoor seating, with both umbrellas for the warm, sunny days and heat lamps for the cool, chilly evenings. There is also a small parking lot in the back. This was a great place to meet friends and hang out for a couple of hours. There are lots of tables outs side with heat lamps and fire pits. The tables hold 4 people comfortably. They are close to one another so if you get there early you could snag a couple for a larger group. The staff was friendly. They had live music while we were there. There is window service for the beer. There was a good variety of beer available. They have a limited food menu. The food was nothing to write home about. The nachos were on par with Taco Bell though the salsa was fresher. The hot dogs were ok. We ordered at the window and the food was brought to the table. We decided to check out Headlands Brewery's newest location in Walnut Creek and were happy we did! Just a one-minute walk from the Pleasant Hill BART station... so convenient! The outdoor space here is amazing - shaded by redwoods in the afternoon... and lots of space for patrons to find the right place to hang out. The beers were great - especially the IPAs and pilsners - and the food was outstanding. Highly recommend the smash burger and fries! A lot of positive vibes all around when we visited - families with kids to serious beer connoisseurs, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the types of beers. Stopped by to check out this brewery. My husband and I wanted to sit out for drink and really enjoy establishments with outdoor seating. Very nice set up! Staff was super friendly which was refreshing and nice. We both had the house West Coast IPA, and both had a froz'e. We also ordered the steak carne nachos, and a pretzel with cheese. The meat on the nachos kinda tasted like a mystery meat and wasn't very good. Next time I'll order a regular nachos lol. They have cute lawn chairs to grab if all of the tables are taken, decks of playing cards and uno cards to use while you're there. We had a great time! read more

Really great brewery, with some tasty beers and really tasty food too! I had the Lafayette lager, the five year anniversary cider, the Diablo (all beef hotdog), and the all beef Chicago dog. The beers were great and the all beef hotdogs were delicious! The service at this brewery was phenomenal too, despite it being busy they managed to get drinks and food to the patrons in a quick and timely manner. As far as the ambiance, the interior was clean and comfortable, and the exterior was a turf lawn with wooden benches and chairs circling the area. It also rained when we went and they had umbrellas setup outside which was very much appreciated! Will definitely be back! read more

It's great having another brewery in Lamorinda. Parking is pretty awful but once you get inside it's easy to appreciate what Headlands with the space, having a variety of fire pits, outdoor benches, and tables. The beer, where I was expecting them to shine, was only okay. Full disclosure, I'm not a fan of hoppy beers and over half the menu was IPAs and Pale Ales (fairly normal in the Bay Area). I like the aroma rich flavor of a hefeweizen on a warm night and ordered the Hawk Hill. It was cloudy but lacked much flavor and tastes more like a lager. Wanting something with more flavor, I ordered the Solar sour. While it passed the sour test, the flavor didn't go much beyond the first impression. Overall, both beers were fairly forgettable. We also ordered the nachos, a couple of sausages, and a pretzel. All were okay but it's the pretzel with beer cheese that I would recommend and order again. Overall, a nice place to hang out, chat, and enjoy a giant pretzel but neither the food nor the beer were anything to rave about. read more

The outdoor seating is delightful!!! But does get a bit crowded. They have these circular outdoor tables that have fire in the center. To get one of those, I'd show up early and stake your claim to that valuable real estate. Another option is to make friends and join up with another crew that has one. They do have lots of outdoor seating, a decent selection of food (recommend the All Beef Chicago Hot Dog, and a large selection of beer. But the best part of this place is the service. The person at the front counter that helped me explained what a hefeweizen was, and how it differed from a lager. That helped ol' uneducated me make an intelligent choice. A new brewery in town? Yes please. It's located in a new development with a fun outdoor area that's ready for summer. They have a solid selection of house brew and a couple other locals. I got the Hazy Pale Ale and the Pilsner, no regrets. The hazy was juicy while staying true to a pale ale flavor profile. The Pilsner was impressive to me, had a barrel aged taste to it and a mild rye scent. I don't kills for the pils but I'd get this again. I went during their soft opening but they have a formidable menu, including wines, frosé, and soft serve!! Definitely going to be the spot to hangout at as summer gets rolling. read more

Our time here was let down by one of the bar staff who was a little rude when we asked for a number flag for my autistic son (we had already ordered). They stated there were not enough available as the place gets busy. Given there were over 20 flags and the rotation of flags was fast this clearly was the server deciding they couldn't help pacify my son and just a less than convincing response. Visited most recently on Cinco de Mayo and enjoyed the tacos and beer special. The tacos were great, I wish they were offered daily. The seasonal Ensueno dark Mexican lager was fantastic. Among their everyday beers, on prior visits I enjoyed Point Bonita pilsner and Hawk Hill hefeweizen. Headland's beer menu provides the %ABV, but I wish it also included IBU. I prefer beers under 45 IBU, and listing IBU on the menu would help me better order beer I am likely to enjoy, especially when navigating hazy IPAs. Had a hot dog there previously which was good and look forward to trying a smash burger. Wish they had a side option other than plain potato chips - mini pretzels would be nice. Service from the bar to the grill to the floor staff are friendly and efficient. They have plenty of staff working the patio on weekends keeping things clean and organized. It is a nice environment to relax and visit, and there is one TV to watch sports if you sit in the right area. Street parking is a good option on weekends as the lot fills and can be hard to navigate when the neighboring businesses are open. Definitely recommend beer lovers give Headlands a try. As a bonus, on purchases of specific beers they make dollar donations to benefit CA state parks and other local charities. They also host fund-raising events from time to time to benefit community charities. Good business, good neighbors. read more

Cool spot with big outdoor area (two fire pits going). Menu includes 8 beers of their own brewing (assume this will be a rotating tap). Sampled the pale ale (6.3%) and got a sour. Both pretty good.
