Stephan was a great first experience as to what a professional massage should solve for. He made sure to talk me through the work he will do, and offer different ways to sit, and position myself to alleviate additional stress and tension. After the consultation, I was able to get settled on to a prepared table and had complete focus and attention placed on areas needed. Stephan made sure to alert me that soreness will be common for the week ahead, but that it wasn't anything to worry about. I walked out of there still feeling a bit stiff, and the days following were pretty sore. After about a week (just as he said!), things lifted and I felt 100% better and good as new. This was my first experience and I really appreciated all the care and attention (and even the follow up email!) that was sent to ensure I didn't have any other questions or concerns following the appointment. Stephan and I had a lovely chat when I initially reached out in search of a much-needed massage. He was very accommodating to my travel schedule and timing, and we made a plan. When the day arrived for my treatment, I was overwhelmed by the traffic and the delays of morning tasks, and he was flexible about my arrival time. Unlike the more formal staffed spa experience, I arrived to a beautiful house typical of the architecture in the area - massive craftsman-style estates with mossy color and corbels and interesting trim. I parked alongside of a community garden that I later learned was run by Stephan's wife. I learned this because when I arrived I was served chai with freshly ground spices and had time to sit and chat. We learned about one another in ways related and unrelated to massage, which made me feel like a welcomed guest and not just a client. I'm a person who struggles to feel warm, and the weather on this particular day was in the thirties and rainy - typically northeast weather. The massage table was very warm, perfectly comfortable with none of the unfortunate massage table squeaks (from hundreds of bodies of a busy spa setting), and the room had cozy wool rugs, lots of salt lamps, and gentle classical music overtones. Stephan welcomed me to advise him about the pressure, and he even thanked me when I made one suggestion about the level that was best. He modified his pressure and the targeted areas, and I felt cared for throughout the experience. I was amazed, as I often am when working with a truly talented healer, that he identified troublesome areas that linked to other stiff and sore spots and worked these until they released and softened into nothing. I know that when I am in this area again I will most definitely return and will treat these appointments as pilgrimages into my health and to having met a very warm, genuine, interesting, and talented person. read more

Bill M. If you have a some nagging aches and pains, if anyone can help, it is Stefan. Stefan is very well versed in the body's musculature and potential pain areas and is an expert at massage. Don't be conned by the many so called massage spas they really are inferior when it comes to massages. Stefan is, to me, tops in the massage field. He helped me get relief for my back when doctors could not since they really do not care much unless you are a candidate for expensive surgery. The massage I had with Stefan was deep tissue but if you are more sensitive, he will readily adjust the pressure. Just ask. This was hands down one of the best massages I've ever had if not the best. Stefan is wonderful! This place is an incredible find. I was developing a migraine due to tension/stress and was desperate to find some relief. I happened to call Stefan at Head to Toe Harmony and left a message saying that I really needed to find someone who could give me a massage that day. Stefan got back to me within a number of minutes and gave me clear instructions on where to find him (second floor of building 25) and where I could park (garage about 5 minutes away, valet lot next door--I parked in the garage, which I highly recommend so you don't stress yourself out with meter parking. It's the same price per hour in any case). Stefan was extremely warm, friendly, caring, and professional. He took the time to sit and listen to my history with back problems and made sure I was comfortable (the heated massage table is certainly nice!). The ambiance in the room was very nice, although the building's first floor shares office space with a realty company so it is not your typical "spa" environment. However, everything was perfect and calming and tranquil within the massage room itself. Stefan's knowledge, caring and passion for healing through massage is evident. Not only was the massage wonderful, but I didn't feel rushed in and out, stressed, or short-changed like I have when I've visited other spa settings with an assembly line-style schedule. It also was a bonus that he gave me 90 minutes of time but charged me for 60 minutes because I was a first time client. He also apparently offers a punch card--after so many massages (6 I believe) you get one free! I will definitely be coming back here. read more

I have been regularly getting massages for more than 5 years and started going to Stefan when I was pregnant with my first child; after my previous massage therapist disappeared on me. They were amazing and made me feel great throughout my pregnancy! On top of the normal aches and pains women get when pregnant, I suffer from migraines, as well as lingering effects of various sports injuries, especially to my shoulder and back. I also have a very stressful job. Without Stefan's massages, which both eased my pains and relieved my stress, my pregnancy would have been difficult, to saw the least; but because I saw Stefan regularly, it was a pretty easy pregnancy. I continue to see Stefan regularly for both pain relief and relaxation. My shoulder and back pain are minimal and my migraines have been non-existent! He was friendly and engaging before the session, asking me about my goals for the session, but also funny. During the session, he focused on addressing problem areas, while checking in from time to time to make sure that I was comfortable. The studio is very peaceful and lends itself to relaxation.
