Picture it's Sunday morning, you find lice in your child's hair and now your whole day becomes treating, combing, washing sheets, vacuuming... Thank God for Kelly! The at-home (licensed) daycare that our 17 m/o goes to had to shutdown one Friday after a lice outbreak affecting at least 3 kids the day before. The owner asked every family to see a lice professional to get every kid professionally cleared over the weekend. We were in a true pinch finding this out Friday afternoon, frantically calling multiple places to see if we could get an immediate appt. Kelly answered right away, asked us to give her 20 minutes, then we were asked to head to her. She does everything from her house which luckily wasn't far from ours - good to know because we're sure this won't be the last lice scare with a toddler in daycare! She checked our toddler, myself, and my husband very thoroughly. She sits you in a chair under a super bright light, then uses a lice comb and magnifying glasses to do the check. She pounds the comb out in a bowl of water after each comb through then looks at the water with the glasses to check for eggs and bugs. The whole process for the 3 of us only took collectively 15 min. or so. Thankfully, we were all clear! We learned soooo much about lice from her in the process, which I'm sure will be super useful someday soon when this chaos happens again at daycare. Believe everything you've read about Kelly, she is the best in the business. I called her to make an appointment and she was able to take me the next day. I was able to drive down to her house to get it done, which is nice because it feels less like you're getting lice checked and more like two friends talking. Not only was she thorough and knowledgeable about lice, she put me at ease about lice and some of its misconceptions. She prevented me from what she likes to call "lice psychosis" where people just lose their damn mind over lice and start burning bedsheets or combing like a crazy person. After arming myself with some good information, she instructed me to comb myself for four days (not longer than 5 minutes). The best thing about Kelly is that she still cares, even after you leave her. I texted her several (ok, more than several) times about whether or not something is lice and she's always been so responsive. On one of the days, I thought I found an egg while combing and freaked out. I called her again and asked if she would check me again. She was able to take me the next day again and after checking, she reassured me that there was nothing there and that the things I thought was lice was actually skin from the scalp from over-combing. I found something that I thought to be lice on my clothes and as I have a phobia about them, I immediately started calling all and every lice treatment location around and they either didn't answer or said they have already left (showing that they're open on their website). Desperately and disappointed I decided to call this last location which was quite far from me at 8 pm while I had no hope for them to answer or agree to see me that late; Kelly answered my call with a very joyful voice (unlike other business owners) and agreed to visit me at her location asap.
