So, it finally happened, one of my kids got sent home for head lice. I panicked, of course, bc it's so gross and I have 3 kids, how many of the people in my house have lice! I called Shirley and arranged for her to come the next day. She was so calming on the phone and immediately put my freaked out mind at ease. My daughter, along with her classmates unfortunately all got lice. A friend of one of the moms recommended Shirley to help with the situation. My daughter's classmates hired Shirley immediately, while I tried to resolve the lice issue by myself with lice shampoo from CVS (I wasn't trying to be cheap, but just couldn't wait another night to get the nasty bugs out.) The OTC shampoo killed the lice, but 4 days later we still found eggs in my daughter's hair. Each time, just when I thought I did a fantastic job combing all the eggs out, another few would show itself the next morning! I caved and made an appt with Shirley. Best Money Ever Spent! I have twin daughters who have long thick hair.. and after I found lice.. I spent days and hours trying to treat them... finally , I called the LIce Nannie who was recommended by a friend.. we instantly were able to communicate through texts... then we spoke on the phone sat evening... and scheduled an appt for Monday morning. She came to the house and in three hours... she managed to get through my twins, myself and my husband who all had newly hatched eggs. It's pure panic when you get the note from school or the text from another parent that your child has been exposed to lice!! But it's a practical reality, so it's a lifesaver to have someone like Shirley who you can send an SOS to in these moments. We went through this yesterday and Shirley was able to come the same day thank goodness. She gave us an info brochure, then checked me and my daughter, explained what she was looking for as well as taught us a lot about the lifecycle and survival tactics of lice. After waking up in the middle of the night to my little girl scratching her head profusely, I knew right away she had lice yet I had no idea what to do or where to even begin. Called her at 9:00 pm when I saw lice in one of my kids' hair. She was reachable that late at night, and was able to get to my house first thing in the morning by 8:00 am to get it taken care of, while other places weren't even open for me to call.
