UPDATE: AS SOON AS HAIR WIZARDS SAW MY REVIEW, ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY STARTED GETTING GOOD REVIEW AFTER GOOD REVIEW, IT WAS SO OBVIOUS THAT THEY WERE TRYING TO COUNTERACT AND BURY MY NEGATIVE REVIEW WITH FALSE POSITIVES. It's common for unethical businesses to offer incentives to customers who write false positive reviews in attempt to counteract the negative reviews they have recieved, they hold no truth or value. They were posted immedialty after seeing my negative review and it's a testimony to their shady and illegal practices. PROCEED WITH CAUTION. READ ALL NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON THIS BUSINESS BEFORE GOING THERE OR YOU AND YOUR BANK ACCOUNT MAY REGRET IT!
When my son started preschool we fell victim to every parents nightmare, a lice outbreak at the school. When the notice came home in his backpack I called Hair Wizards and although they did treat my family for lice and they did get rid of it, by the time the two appointments were done plus the the purchase of products to take home, it was well over $600.
Here's why I am giving them 1 star. Its because I don't appreciate being lied to. One of the reasons we went there is because we were told that we could submit the forms they gave us to our insurance company and get some sort of reimbursement. So we fill out the forms and send them in. Our insurance company at the time (Cigna) said they'd reimburse us and because we had met our deductible we stood to recieve almost the whole amount back! $600 is alot of money for anyone and getting that back would have been helpful.
Cigna says we just need the business liscence number of the company and we will be all set. I call and I get the woman with the accent that typically answers the phone and sits at the front desk. When I ask for the business liscence number she refuses to give it to me and says its Cigna's way of not wanting to reimburse us and that she can "show me a stack of forms where people were reimbursed without the business liscence number and to call Cigna back." It was ridiculous. I went around and around with her for a while til she asked if she could call me back and guess what? She never did.
Now our time limit for filing the claim expired so we had to start all over again. I call her up again about two months later and basically its the same run around. Once again she asked she can call me back in a few minutes. I say yes but do you promise because last time you never did. She says " I promise," and needless to say I never heard from her again. She was so defensive and she was becoming hostile so at this point I just decided I would go down there.
In the meantime I take it upon myself to call the State Licencing Board of California. I was not surprised to hear that HAIR WIZARDS OF ENCINO IS NOT LISCENCED IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA.
Not only are they not liscenced, I learned that in any type of facility where one is getting any type of service done to their hair, the person that is touching the head of the client has to be a liscenced hair technician as well! At one point when we were there, the receptionist that I mentioned before actually worked on my head herself when the other technician moved on to a new customer.
So, Hair Wizards are in several violations. I learned from the State Board that their business liscence should be hanging in the window or at the front desk in plain view for everyone to see and that they have un liscenced people working on customers. So now I know why she was so hesitant to give me what we needed and what is our right to ask for. She kept trying to give me their tax ID number saying that would be sufficient. It was a complete JOKE!
Now we're out $600 due to this woman and her lies. I will be filing a complaint with The State Board and I am so mad over the $600 we lost due to her lying to us. We could have went somewhere else and been reimbursed or made our own decision to stay and pay out of pocket but she took that choice away from us when she lied about insurance reimbursement when she assured us we would be reimbursed by Cigna, so we stayed with them.
I would be very leery of anything this company tells you from the price of service, insurance reimbursement and the illusion that they are a liscenced facility. Having the receptionist work on your hair could be one of the reasons so many people have to come back after their initial two sessions. I mean really, that's just common sense.
I'd stay away from them under all circumstances. There are so many other salons in the area that cater to this type of service, you don't need to bother going there. You will just end up paying several hundred dollars. Plus their floors were filthy, and I mean gross. YUCK! If their "salon" is that filthy and disgusting out front in the
service area, imagine what it looks like behind the curtain! read more
