Thanks to my dear friend who recommended this place, I ended up booking some pre valentines day massages for my hun and I : ) Located off Locust St right next to a thrift store and a Sushi restaurant, I would have never have known this place existed if it wasn't for my friend. I had my hun get the 55 min foot massage ( he has a really bad foot) which comes with a 20 min back massage for around $ 40.00. I just got the 20 min foot massage ( they all come with a AMAZING head massage and little back massage) for a$20.00. (Oh and Bring cash!! They charge like $2.00 extra per service on the credit card) I really love the nice ( not super fancy) tranquil, relaxing atmosphere. Unfortunately she had neither the strength nor the technique to do anything meaningful with my knots. Half an hour was spent with the same tired old movements; sliding elbows indiscriminately across muscle systems and even across the spine. Rather than focusing on distinct muscles and kneading/pressuring out the kinks, it seemed as if I was getting a treatment out of a cookie-cutter. Of course, how could it be any different? I was not even asked about my areas of tightness at the beginning. There was no communication whatsoever. Oh my sweet jam pie! This place is so amazing!! First off, the place is located in the heart of downtown Walnut Creek! The inside is so beautiful and the ambiance is very calming. I booked an Appt for my mom and I and we got Kevin and Charlie and they transported us to heaven!! For only $25 for an hour ... They start with your face and head then work on your arms and hands... Next the feet (oh me oh my). The pressure the whole time was so amazing. They are so good at what they do! I love getting foot massages. I realized how much of a good deal it is to get one here and that I should be coming here more often. Thankfully, I booked it for my entourage of 6 ladies a day ahead. Everyone had told me I was snoring during the foot massage, which I wasn't aware of until I woke myself up from one. I'm not too embarrassed because I heard it was a compliment to the masseuse when you snore anyway. The other thing is that these massage chairs are way too big for someone who is 5'0" like me. When they were reclining my chair, I felt like I was getting smaller and my foot started to lift up from the bucket. I really had to stretch my legs down to submerge my feet. I was really excited to get massage when I saw that they had a promo for $45/hr and I was reassured by all the great reviews on yelp. I loved that I walked in and had time for me. The rooms have shutter doors and are very close to one another so you can hear everything that goes on around you. It was hard to relax with chatting from the other room. The masseuse was just okay. I asked her to start with my head because I had a head ache and she said okay but then she didn't do it. She finished before the hour was over. I have seen many of the therapists and overall find them to be great. I ask for more pressure and am usually satisfied with what I get. You start with a full body massage, lying face down and if you ask, you can get a lot of work in problem area. I always ask them to focus on the back and neck area. The flip side goes more quickly which is fine with me. They do use oil, and then you get a nice wipe down with hot towels. This place was cool I was accommodated even though I was going to be there 930 & I called at about 8 to make the appointment. I asked for a warm room & a female masseuse. They accommodated that as well with a electronic heating blanket that was very nice. The massage was overall ok, I am thinking that because of the time that I went in maybe it was because of the time that I went in that they gave me just anyone? I wanted medium pressure, I got a pretty rough amount of pressure and there was a language barrier that kind of got in the way of our communication. Wow! What a great experience! My husband and I went here for the 1st time, and we both got great massages! The atmosphere is very tranquil. We chose the 60 minute "foot" massage, but we got so much more. Scalp, neck and shoulders, arms and legs, and then you flip over for a back massage. Focus is on the feet and ankles for about 1/2 the time. All while fully clothed! Big, comfy leather chairs that recline all the way are glorious. We both had male therapists, and the pressure was strong but not painful. And their PRICES! My husband thought it was a mistake! We got 2 60 minute massages + tip for much less than what you normally pay for one massage. $25 each + $5 tip. You pay before the treatment, which is not typical, but we were so thrilled with the service that we added an extra $5 for each therapist after we were done. This would be a great introduction to massage for someone who has never had one since you remain clothed. I get regular massages and like firm pressure, and I found this to be as good as any spa (unless you like the lounging, whirlpool, etc.). Try it. You'll love it! read more

THIS WAS THE WORST massage I have ever experienced. Head 2 Toe was unprofessional and had me wait, face down and naked for over 15 minutes. When I finally got dressed to check with the front desk, she had forgotten that she had me in the room and didn't even inform the masseuse that I was there. The massage was VERY uncomfortable and awkward. She actually pulled my underwear into my butt so that she could repeatedly massage my butt cheek. This is something that I found both unnerving and completely unnecessary --- especially since I specifically asked for a neck massage... I've been looking for a good reflexology place for a while, and unfortunately this place was not it. Through the atmosphere is very welcoming at first, the service is regrettably below standards. First for a foot reflexology period they will place a towel over your eyes to help you relax, it's right after this where things went south. At first it took me a while to figure it out but the Lady in charge of giving me a reflexology session was using latex gloves the entire time. I'm usually a pretty clean person so I figured maybe this was standard procedure but my skin felt incredibly irritated by the end of the session, and her overall work seemed more aggressive and painful. What. Was. That? I have had Chinese massage before. This wasn't it. I won't be back, yelpers! You steered us wrong! I just had a 60 minute "deep tissue" massage with a lady who seemed to have no knowledge of anatomy. It was the second worst massage I have ever had. It is similar to that massage in that I left thinking, "Hmmm, I just paid money to have someone with no massage training awkwardly slather cooking oil on me." I suppose if you are looking for someone to try to put you to sleep, it might be okay. But I couldn't even relax because some of the things she was doing were just so weird. Not only did she seem like she didn't know what she was doing, it was as if she had never had or seen a massage - except perhaps watching an old movie where a prize fighter gets a massage where he is jostled around vigorously. For example, I asked for deep tissue, but she just kept using her forearms and elbows over my back. I'm relatively thin so this felt like someone was using my back ribs as a washboard. I asked her to use her hands. When she did, it was as if she had never touched another person before and was poking at my skin to see what might be underneath. Maybe this was just a fluke but I don't think so. My husband was in the same room getting a massage and he also asked for deep tissue. I looked over and it wasn't deep tissue and he was sleeping. Um, you can't fall asleep during a deep tissue massage unless you are super medicated! (He wasn't.) read more

I have been here several times, but it had not been in awhile and after reading some bad reviews I was skeptical. However, my fiance really wanted to take us to get massages and I had had good massages here before so we decided to go. They were able to take us both in the couples room. I asked for deep tissue for both of us. I originally asked for a male therapist, but said I really didn't mind. I got a woman which ended up being so good. She really worked on the areas I specified and my neck and shoulders feel so much better today! It was so relaxing and I really loved the hot towels at the end. Definitely worth the $50! After a stressful start to my week I decided that I wanted to get relax a little and get a message. I read most of the reviews on Yelp regarding Head 2 Toe. On my lunch break I decided to take a change and just do a walk in. The young women at the front was very nice, said that they could take me right away and told me about the specials. Once I paid she walked me back to a large room with others getting messages as well. I was happy to hear almost only the music playing. If there was talking it was a very low whisper. The man starting working on my head. My only complaint was a slight smell of food on his hands. Nothing offensive but I will say that I wasn't prepared for it. If your looking for a firm hand this is the place to go. I was happy for it as my body is always full of stress. If your looking for a litter pressure you may want to go somewhere else. After working on my head, shoulders and arms he worked on my feet and legs. I'm sad to say that the massage I got for my feet was not as relaxing as I had hoped. It was mostly just long strokes of rubbing. There didn't seam to be a lot of technic being used. If I hadn't had a message before I didn't know any better It probable would have been ok. He then had me lay face down to do my back. AGAIN, I can stress this enough if you want a firm/ harder massage this place is the place for you. If not be warned. There where points that it was almost to hard but it didn't quite get there. I wish that he would have used some technical massage ability but you get what you pay for. Head 2 Toe is one of my favorite local massage places. The staff and owner are friendly, the decor is simple and tasteful, and the massages I've received are fantastic. I've done both the foot and body massages, and my suggestion, if you have the time, is to do their foot/body combo. Steven has a great touch, checks in with you, and makes sure I have tea or water on my way out. This place is okay. I was expecting more from the word spa and a lot more from the words "day spa". However, for someone literally just seeking feet or head,neck, and shoulders then this an okay place for you still get the sense of relaxation while reclining in a dark room with others. I had a gift card for the 70 minute special which was 40 minutes in the recliner and then 30 minutes in a private room. I got 60 minutes. Not by choice. Maybe I should have had a timer with me?!? Each section of the special was okay. While I was there a young woman was hurt during the recliner part. Although I had a cloth over my eyes, my ears were wide open! She did tell the "massage therapist" that it hurt and then the next part she got up and was crying from the pain. From what I overheard, the "mt" pushed straight down directly on her spine/tail bone area. ***if that lady is reading this I hope you are okay and if you need a chiropractic recommendation, I recommend Vanessa Wulff.*** So as you can imagine after hearing her complain, I was on guard and did notice that my MT also like to place his hands on my tailbone. He didn't push down but then maybe it was because I was on stable table and not an awkward recliner?!? I went to Head 2 Toe for the first time today to get a full body massage. It was $40 for an hour, which is such a good price! I was extremely pleased with my massage, feeling really comfortable and relaxed the entire time. The walls are pretty thin, but there weren't that many people talking when I was there. The room was really dark and nice, soothing music was playing in the background. The woman who worked on me used a lot of strength, which was good. I went in with my boyfriend and got a foot/body massage combo for 60 minutes. It was a great deal, we went in and were able to get chairs next to each other. Ahhh, this is a fabulous retreat in Walnut Creek. You can usually get a last minute appointment - if not within 30 minutes of calling, at least that same day. I recommend the 60 minute foot reflexology. I have come 5+ times with friends or family and only had a bad experience once (I had a very young gentleman who was not as good as previous people I have used - the reason for the 4 star review).
