After the heavy rain this summer in Chicago we knew it was time for new gutters. We had ignored the…read moregutters long enough. I sent out a request on Yelp and Carlos quickly responded. He came out and gave me a fair estimate. I did not want gutters from a big box chain company. I prefer small business owners. I did meet with a few other gutter companies but my instinct told me to go with Clean Master Service. A week before the gutters were supposed to go up, Carlos asked for a deposit. I told him to send me a contract and a receipt which he did. He was always very responsive. The night before the gutters went up, I was nervous. I couldn't sleep. Carlos, did introduce me to Ricardo, one of the workers who would be taking care of our gutters. Both Carlos and Ricardo were very professional and always on time. The job took about 4 days because of the rainy days and because we did not anticipate some rotten wood along the house. Carlos called me to tell me about the wood. In the end I was very impressed with how Ricardo took his time installing the gutters, downspouts and fascia. One day he was here super late into the night because he was making sure that enough material was up and working for the next day which forecasted rain. I can't tell you how grateful I am the gutters are finally done! They look amazing. They also covered our front wooden roof peak with aluminum siding. It looks absolutely perfect. The timeliness of the project has been over 3 months. The professionalism doesn't exist. Several no call, no shows. When a contractor shows up but not staying focus on the job because they're on personal calls while working (making mistakes). The price of the labor was to good to be true and now I know why, the service I received was awful. I honesty feel they bit off more than they could chew. I hired these guys through Thumbtack and was disappointed in the end result... but when I reached…read moreout to them because of dissatisfaction with edging, paint on the ceiling, paint on my light fixtures, and paint on my backsplash and tile, I received a defensive response from the company - and that was followed by middle of the night text messages from the painter defending himself, telling me I cost him his job, begging for me to change the review, etc. Their second response to me providing photographs of what I was dissatisfied with was and l offer to come back and fix things, but, I was soured by their first response claiming that despite working on multimillion dollar houses and a claim by the painter that he did a good job. If the customer isn't satisfied, fix it, and you won't have to defend yourself... but defend yourself first, and you lose a customer. Months later, these people have had the gall to call my completely fair review of the poor job they did at my house as "slanderous", called my wife a liar, and would rather fight with customers than own up to their shortcomings. That's what you get when you work with them, apparently, but I have the pictures and the quote they have BEFORE doing the work to challenge all their BS. Not worth your time, or money. Period.

I contracted for (1) wall / ceiling…read morepainting, (2) a new door installation for bathroom (3) flooring work for ~500sqft in my studio. The company did a good job in (1) and (2). But when it comes to the flooring work, a few things happened: a. The majority of my purchased laminate materials was wasted due to installation challenges resulted from uneven subfloors: Before project started, I explicitly confirmed with the company on the product I intended to purchase and received the thumbs up. When my original carpet was removed, the contractor quickly found out that my subfloor was uneven, which present challenges to installation. With two attempts using almost all the materials, we concluded the product was not viable unless we either level the floor. That decision could have been made earlier b. The vinyl installation was suboptimal: Then I suggested I go together to pick a more flexible vinyl product with the contractor. As you can see in the picture, the installation was sub-optimal. The contractor attempted to float the vinyl but multiple pieces popped up after installation. Then an attempt to glue down some of the pieces was pursued. What you see on the picture was the outcome. At this point, this project has started since two months ago. I do not know what else can be done, nor do I want to push for another cycle of reinstallation so I closed the project. The other day, I walked in the new ORD airport pedestrian walkway. The vinyl planks there were well installed despite the fact the ORD subfloor was not even either. Typically, I'd expect the output of a residential project to be higher quality than commercial space, presumably due to smaller space. Am I missing something? I appreciate the hard work but I really cannot give thumbs up to the output. This is an investment property. I don't even know how my future renters would value the home improvement after spent more than five thousand dollars on it.
