I felt so uncomfortable when I visited this store. Every time I looked up there were at least 2 employees staring at me, to a point where I felt like I needed to say something. Maybe they are dealing with a lot of theft in their store, however - I worked in retail for many years and never experienced anything like this. I will not return to this store. If you're concerned about theft please get cameras, don't make your customers feel like they're stalked. read more

I did not have enough experience with the sale staff. We just had a group meet up and shopping event at the store. The owner is very very nice. Let me tell you about the store. If you love Anthropologie. This is even BETTER! It's like a mini local "anthro"with even better more unique selection hand picked by Dave, the owner. If you want to have literally one of a kind items-go to Hazel. Their home store is to die for! I would move in and lived there, if only Dave allowed me to. Negative side: they carry only few pieces of clothing. So when they gone-THEY GONE. I had a sad experience with that. So if you are in the neighborhood, and you find something in that cute little store. Just get it. Really really cool stuff. And the prices are not insane. read more

This is such a great store. It's the perfect stop for a birthday/baby/hostess gift. You can get the gift and a way cool card all in one. They have some phenomenal jewelry and handbags. And they even wrap for you!!! You can also order online which my parents (who live out of town) did for me for Christmas. I love this store!! I have bought baby gifts, birthday presents for both men and women, and a few things for myself along the way. They have a little bit of everything including jewelry, purses, wallets, candles, tons of cards, baby gifts, and lots of little funky knick-knacks. And they wrap gifts for you for free. They do a stellar job with that and they always offer, you don't have to request it. The people who work there are always really sweet and are balanced at being around to help you, but not overwhelming you and annoying you with wanting to help you find something. I have gone in here tons of times and left without anything and not felt like they were annoyed (like some other stores). There is another spot in the West Loop (?) that I have not been to, but I am sure it is similar in its offerings. The prices are quite reasonable (even though I cannot afford their purses and some of the better jewelry, it is still worth what it is priced). read more

The 'Art Effect' of the upper Northside. Hazel is an adorable boutique that has a wide variety of cards. Any occasion, funny, serious, blank, you name it. Tons of trinkets, jewelry, kids items, books. They even had some fresh flowers! I picked up some cards and a box of Harney's Tea and called it a day. I do have to say the staff wasn't the warmest. They both seemed occupied, gave the customary hello, goodbye, opened the door for me too; however when you work in retail sometimes having the extra "oomph" in your voice helps. read more

I adore Hazel! It's my go to place for unique gifts and jewelry. Their shop always has something new and beautiful to look at and buy! I've bought gift for friends, teachers, my sister and mother. I bought my husband his cologne from here and I just love they way it smells on him. They have a great card selection too. The employees are always helpful and informative. They always offer to wrap your gifts too. My friend bought me a necklace for my birthday, and I knew as soon as she handed me the package that it was from Hazel and I was SO excited. This little place is awesome. My wife and I love going in every once in a while to go and look around. Its a great place to stop and look around at on a Sunday afternoon walk. It seems like there is something in there for everyone. The best thing about the shop though is the cards. Its our go to place if we need to buy a card for someone's birthday, anniversary, etc. and while we are there we'll look around for a gift. They have fresh flowers in the back room that are decently priced and are perfect to romance the wife with. If I had only one complaint about this place, it would have to be that it is a bit pricey as far as their gifts go. I think that if they lowered their prices on some of their items they would get a little bit more business. The place does give off a boutique feel though and I know those are usually a little more expensive.... I think, right? Overall though, great place to go gift shopping.
