I love a good punny name, this one based upon the name of the neighborhood (Ravenswood). I've driven by Ravensgoods so many times; if it wasn't here before I moved to the neighborhood, it opened shortly thereafter. This very tiny shop has a variety of items that would be perfect if you need to pick up a gift for someone. They have candles, greeting cards, jewelry, and several baby items. I ended up buying a cute little onesie that has is designed to look like the Chicago flag but with hearts in place of the stars. it's so cute and I can't wait to put it on my little ones. They had several other onesies that were cute. I mentioned to the shopkeeper that I wanted to get a little bean onesie, and she mentioned they carry them but they sell out so quickly and the woman who she gets them from is backed up in stock.It makes sense to me because they're adorable! I didn't realize they had them here so it's good I could pick it up from here if I can't find it elsewhere. Parking is on the street BUT you're in luck because the Brown Line station is half a block away. There's also street parking on Damen and possibly the surrounding streets (not sure, but because it's near a train station I'd suspect it might be permit parking on the side streets). read more

A surprisingly affordable gem in the Ravenswood neighborhood. Truly, there are tons of wonderful finds here, and while some handmade pieces from local artists are pricey, everyone can find something special within their price range here. The salesperson was extremely friendly, nice, and helpful, and the atmosphere was quaint and unique, without seeming pretentious. Took advantage of the great weather this weekend to take a local shopping trip in the neighborhood and stumbled across this adorable shop - what a great find! The store itself is small, but tastefully decorated with pretty light lanterns and the merchandise is beautifully styled and arranged. Great place to pick up pretty and unique decorative items for your home or gifts. They had many candles, unique glass jars, frames, jewelry and cute scarves. The best part: we were blown away by how affordable everything was! Jewelry for a little over $10, pretty glass jars for under $10, etc. Also, the girl at the store was really sweet and helpful, yet not overbearing at all which I can really appreciate at little stores like this where I want to take my time and browse. My only tiny gripe was that there was some unused shelving and extra space in the shop where more merchandise could be displayed. Will definitely be back here to pick up unique gifts and even treat myself to some accessories for myself and my home. read more

I love Ravensgoods!!!! Besides the fact that the name is super cute, the store is also very cute. I casually passed by one day and discovered this little secret on damen. The way to best describe their store is everyday things with a twist. For example you I saw this book that looked like something from my childhood but inside the pages were blank and made out of repurposed paper. They also have all natural handmade body scrubs, cool purses, unique jewlery and the list goes on and on. Basically when you go there you know that what you are getting is one of a kind. This might be the cutest store ever and the best part is that it is walking distance from my apartment. I went in and the owner was so friendly and helpful without being pushy you totally felt free to browse and her daughter happened to be there which just added another layer of flipping adorable. Everything was pretty affordable and a lot of it was locally made so there won't be 200 people running around with you necklace! they have a little bit of everything and I definitely plan on going back soon. I would love to write an actual review for Ravensgoods. However, it would be impossible as on two separate occasions now, I have ventured and it's been unapologetically closed. How is this good business? Saturday, September 14 they had a nice little handwritten sign saying they would be closed. I guess I wont ever find out what the other four and five star reviewers have come to love, because apparently you're doing well enough that during your posted hours you can just be closed. Maybe you figure, hey, everyone has the opportunity to stop by during working hours during the week? I don't, but being you were closed with a handwritten sign on a Saturday, I don't think you'll care about losing one customer. Now I will go ahead and click the "Not sure" box for Good for Kids, and I might as well mark the pictures as Helpful, being that's about as much as I have experienced. read more

I finally ventured in to pick up a last minute gift. I was looking for a votive candle to complete my gift, but alas no candles (yet). But I found an adorable reusable tote for my mom, really cool earrings made from electrical fuses for my sister, (she's a scientist and loved them) and a super frickin cute rhinestone owl necklace for myself. The owner Lulu wrapped the gifts with care and used ric-rac to tie the boxes. I love ric-rac. I also love finding another soul who can't stop saving little wooden boxes, cigar boxes, and vintage crates. The store is small, but has a wonderful selection of jewelry, baby items, stationary, milk glass, bags, toy robots, and other interesting items. Many items are under $25, so this is going to be my go to place for gifts. read more

Ravensgoods is very cute. I stopped in on Father's Day because I needed to buy a card for my dad- oops. They had a very cute card collection for various events. They also had a good selection of knick knack type gifts. I ended up buying a cute flask for a friend's birthday. They also had a very nice selection of jewelry and soaps. I was really surprised by how affordable much of their stuff is (necklaces for $10-15, vintage posters for under $10). Really great prices.
