OMG! Jareth was our server and she knocked it out of the park. We had an enormous wedge salad that put any local brewhouse wedge to shame! We split the patty melt sandwich which came with frings (1/2 onion ring and 1/2 fries), which was perfectly cooked! Then we shared donut holes for desert even though they had some great looking other deserts. It all went down very nicely. 4pm Saturday. This is what $7.50 gets you for onion rings. 7 onion rings. Frozen deep fried onion rings. I ordered a cheeseburger. The waitress asked what kind of cheese I wanted. That's what I got. A burger with only cheese. Nothing on the side. No questions about what else I wanted on it. Strange. Empty ketchup bottle on our table. As we arrived and parked I noticed there were 5 employees hanging out on the side of the building sitting on milk crates drinking beers. Not sure what that was about, especially at this time. The feels like a poorly managed restaurant. Inexperienced waitress. Just lower class than we expected. Towny and not in an endearing way. Kind of in a ghetto way. Food was decent. This bar/resteraunt satisfied all my cravings! Started with a margarita on the rocks with salt for me and a rum/coke for hubby. Then I ordered the French dip with sweet potato fries as side. It was SO flavorful I didn't even need AuJus. It came toasted topped with caramelized mushrooms and onions. Delish! Hubby had the Monterey chicken Sammy with Onion rings. They tasted like Vidalia onions, yum. The sandwich had chicken, ham, bacon and avocado with lettuce, tomato and sriracha Mayo. Yum. Very good. It was my first time here since it became Haymaker, and it was a great experience. I had my Mothers day outing here with my daughter and son in law and started with one of their awesome Bloody Mary's that was really strong,the way I like it. This is my second time coming here within a week and the food was just as amazing this time as it was the last. I ordered the southern pork benedict again. My brother in law had the Brisket skillet which he said was wonderful as well. I was able to get pictures this time before I destroyed the food. As stated in my previous review I'm a big eater and I can get 2-3 meals out of this. The biscuits and gravy could be a meal on their own but then you have two eggs, the pulled pork and hashbrowns... and for $12 plus tax you really can't go wrong. read more

Food is great, but, sorry I have to say, the acoustics stink. We were at 5 tables today, before we found one where we could understand our own conversation. Was there for a Board meeting once. Even the private room was so loud, those of us stuck on the east side of the room could not follow the meeting. Was there for another Board meeting a few years ago (before it was remodeled) & had no problem hearing! You have lost us, unless you can find a way to calm down the excessive voice echoing. My wife and I had our first ever visit to the Haymaker Thunderbird restaurant on Thursday April 1, and that is no April Fool joke. My goodness, this place is awesome!!! We were greeted warmly, and seated quickly. Briana got our drink order started almost immediately, and Miranda was our server for the remainder of our meal. Miranda was very kind, knowledgeable, and professional. I ordered the Arizona Omelette with hash browns and biscuit and gravy, and my wife ordered a Western Omelette with crunchy potatoes and plain biscuit. Instead of mushrooms, my wife was able to substitute green chilis at no charge. The plates arrived in a timely manner, and the fare was spot-on DELICIOUS!!!! It was so good, we will be back many times over we are certain. Miranda cashed us out and after paying offered to set us up with a to-go drink. Craving fried chicken for some reason and I see they have chicken and waffles on the menu, so... The chicken was decent. The waffle was a bit dry, but some extra butter and syrup softened it up nicely. The meatloaf was very good, if also a bit dry. They need to work on some brown gravy for the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. It would be nice if they offered some other vegetable sides besides broccoli. The broccoli was a tad overcooked, but not terrible. Lots of other interesting looking items on the menu, so I look forward to reviewing them soon. read more

Haymaker is an All-American themed dining establishment. I came here for breakfast as I seen Haymaker was a new breakfast spot! The mimosa here wasn't the greatest and was only filled half way. I've only seen that happen when you are getting mimosa flights but that wasn't the case here. I ordered an omelette and it was your typical omelette. It came with a side of potatoes or hash browns and toast. Service was alright. Price is kind of high for quality of food. read more

Really wanted to love the food here as many photos and reviews were very favorable. I must say the restaurant industry is on the down slide as quality and quantity is definitely decreasing. Haymaker is also falling into that category too. As you can see my patty melt was mostly toasted bread with a smaller than expected hamburger patty, grilled onions and cheese. Even the portion of sweet potato fries was smaller than expected by comparison to other photos I have seen here on Yelp. The fried pickle appetizer was okay but kinda hard to screw up pickles deep fried in a better coating. The decor was a little offbeat like trying to be modern with a rustic feel but very plain and not cozy. Lastly maybe different music variety in the background at a lower decibel would be nice. read more

Go to Applebees or Chilli's or anywhere besides here. This place is horrible. I haven't been treated like this in a restaurant in my entire life. I was going through a very personal tough time and I am new to the area. I only had about 22 dollars, which is roughly enough for 3 drinks. So I ordered a blue moon and at first the bartender was friendly. Eventually more people started entering the bar, and me and the person next to me started talking and he bought us both a drink. Then all of a sudden the manager comes out and says they aren't going to serve me even though someone else wanted to have a drink with me. So after 3 drinks in total, I got kicked out because I was having ONLY DRINKS and not food. I was literally just sitting there meeting people and feeling happy and smiling when I was told to leave because I "didn't order any food." I'm sorry, but really? It's a bar! How is it not allowed to just buy drinks? Obviously I would have ordered food if I wasn't going through a hard time and if I had more money. The manager should understand that you don't know what someone is going through in their personal life. Maybe being at Haymaker that night saved my life. I didn't know anyone in peoria and as soon as I started to meet some cool people, I had to leave BECAUSE I DIDN'T ORDER FOOD AT THE BAR. They kicked someone out who wasn't doing anything wrong. Omg can't wait to come back! First time eating here today and it was amazing. Very fast and nice service, AMAZING food and not too expensive. The decor is nice too. Only reason for 4 stars is because they don't have the specialty lattes yet, I tried to order a chai latte and was told they don't have the machine yet, which is totally fine. The restaurant is still fairly new. Someone had made a review saying the food is 'denny's quality'. That is not true AT ALL. Everything seems so homemade and fresh, which is not Denny's. We will probably be back. We went in for an early dinner on 10/17. The ambience leaves much to be desired in our opinion. But who really cares when the food absolutely makes up for it. Our waitress was Nikki. She was efficient, didn't stop by the table too often but also didn't abandon us. She kept our drinks refilled and our orders came correct. She asked if we needed anything else after giving us our food, we asked for extra ranch and tartar and we only had to ask once. So important to me in a server. Husband said his patty melt was outstanding. I had the fish and chips which were also sooo good. My kids had some breakfast items with included the biscuits and gravy, also pretty good and a GIGANTIC serving. Fried zucchini was delicious! I think some low volume music would help a lot in the dining area to drown out the conversations around you. read more

I love(d) Haymaker, especially their "Famous" Pulled Pork sandwich. I've been a regular since it opened (I do miss Dillon's). Here's why I walked out today. My brother-in-law and I walked in around 1:30pm for lunch. Wasn't busy at all, maybe 3 other tables. After sitting for 15 minutes no one came to our table. The hostess walked by and I asked her if we had a server and we'd like 2 glasses of water. She walked into the kitchen and as she walked by our table back to the front (no water), she said someone would be right out. In the next 10 minutes, 2 servers walked out of the kitchen and neither came to our table. Apparently, we must have been invisible or not important enough to have lunch at Haymakers. We walked out at 2:00pm. Just so you know, Texas Roadhouse also has a great Pulled Pork sandwich and I'll be eating theirs from now on. read more

The service was slow but good at 4 pm on Monday. Then the food. My husband had the meatloaf and loved it. He said I should learn to make it the same. A nice compliment. I tasted it and yep it was really good. Then there was my adult grilled cheese. Bad, burned, funny taste, very dry bread. The only plus was the bacon tasted good. I was hungry and I ate as much as I could on the way to a funeral visitation. Tsk tsk. We have eaten at two other locations with very different better results. We wanted to check this new place out for brunch and it was eh-okay. My favorite was the orange-glaze cinnamon roll - big enough to share. The homemade orange glaze was delicious. I got the huevos benedicto with potatoes and it was pretty good - the chorizo patty was different but good. My boyfriend got the haymakers Benedict and thought it was "weird", wasn't really a breakfast item it had mashed potatoes, chicken, bacon, etc. it was like lunch and breakfast all mixed into a big pile of mush. Also got some mimosa - the pineapple one was good but the prickly pear mimosa was soooo sweet, it tasted like there no was champagne in it and it wasn't chilled, I had to add ice cubes to it and couldn't even finish it because of how sweet it was. We had a very good experience!! I say experience because just having good food isn't good enough. Our food was good, the server was amazing, the booth was super comfy (firm and fluffy seats), and we fully enjoyed the EXPERIENCE. I ordered the bacon burrito. I wasn't very hungry but ate more than I expected because it was perfection. I LOVED the homemade salsa and chips that came with the burrito!!! The salsa was better than at most Mexican restaurant!! KUDOS! My hubby had a chicken sandwich, and he said that he would order the same exact sandwich again when we return! He "likes" that he could order broccoli instead of fries for health reasons. Our kid had the two mini burgers on the kid's menu, and they looked delicious!! The meat looked like hand formed (and thick) patties! The buns looked amazing! The cheese looked like a good quality cheese. He even pointed out the cheese as it was oozing off of the side! After I saw our kid's burger, I wanted a burger, but I was happy with my burrito! It was noisy because of a nearby table. There was a group of old people. Our kid asked, "Why are they so loud?" I responded, "Because they are old, and they can't hear themselves or each other!!" Came here for an event this past weekend and it was not too bad! The service was pretty good as were the food and drinks. I got a huckleberry mule and it was really delicious. I also got a ceasar salad which I don't get very often but it was good! My husband got macaroni and fries and I had a little, it was pretty good! I am being nice with the 2 stars. Last 2 visits . A few months ago I just figured it was a bad day in the kitchen, 2 times in a row, same issues it's a problem. 2 couples wives had chicken fried steak, both said it was bland and both ordered broccoli that came cold, the butter they put on it didn't come close to melting. I had the rib and chicken Piggy platter, the skin on the leg/thigh was burnt and shriveled up at the bottom of the leg, the meat was dry and almost hard on the outside and was not very moist. The ribs were last 2 times dry and this last time the half rack the bottom rib was very hard. A knife had difficulty cutting cleanly, something you should never have an issue with ribs. The plus was the front of house, the hostess and waitress were very attentive refilled drinks before they were empty, the hostess even helped since we were there early and the night crew had not clocked in yet, another reason for the review, as late late dining I can understand some food being a little drier, but at 4:15 pm should be best quality. read more

We went with a large group for a birthday get together. They have a large room in back for a large group which is nice. Food was not as well done as other Haymaker restaurants we've been to. Food came out on time and service was great until it was time to pay. It's a tough task creating individual checks for a large group but this place really struggled. Not sure if it was the system or the staff but it took 45 minutes to get our tickets correct and taken care of. My advice is to wait a little bit before going with a large party. Hopefully they will figure it out soon. read more
