    The Fiesta Platter

Stop what you're doing and go to this amazing Mt Pleasant restaurant! We were blown away by the DELICIOUS flavors, especially of the fajita platter! They have the best wings I've ever tried in DC. The fajitas and pupusas were stellar too!! I'm in love!

I liked the interior. It has 2 levels. With the lower floor divided between a dance area and a seating area. Has good selection of drinks. Cheese pupusas, chicken, plantains, guacamole. Each item looked fresh. The manager was super and had a big smile. Parking is a bit easier on the 16th street if you can't find any nearby.

Haydee's is a Mt Pleasant neighborhood staple. It's a pretty big restaurant filled with quirks and a great fajita. They often have live music and the weekends are quite loud here. If you want a Mt Pleasant cultural experience, come here!

I had a great experience at Haydee's! I went for an international karaoke night, which often happens in Sunday's. Pros: Audience: Great scene, diverse and international crowd of lots of people singing and mingling. Service: Very friendly servers and bartenders. Not pretentious, most speak English and Spanish Prices: Very reasonable/low prices for food and drinks! The cheese quesadilla was only about $8 +tip and very worth it Food/drink quality: didn't have an alcoholic drink, so can't comment on that, but I did have a lemonade and a serving of the cheese quesadilla and fries! The quesadilla was amazing: crispy, very cheesy, warm and came with toppings for free. The quesadilla was pretty large, too--great portion sizes for what you are paying for! The fries were large and filling! Could have maybe used a bit more salt, but overall very enjoyable as well! Cons: None, really! A bit crowded but not too overwhelming. Also a bit difficult to hear or make conversation with the karaoke going on, but to be expected!

Haydees offers late night Mexican fare at a reasonable price. It should not be overlooked when in search for a place to eat after a night of drinking.

Three and a half stars for neighborhood grub. The fiesta margaritas are no joke. One pitcher puts me right to bed, but they're definitely a must! Haydee's does a better job with beef than chicken. Sopa de res was excellent, and a large bowl was quite filling; not a huge fan of boiled yuca but at least everything was cooked through. Yuca con carne was executed well (glad to see variants other than pork here) and included curtido. Nachos rancheros were okay, left a bit too long in the oven with charred chip tips. Grilled chicken breast quesadilla was good, toasted exterior and heartily filling. Fajitas burrito was moist and cheesy. Fajita platters are portioned just right for two moderate appetites to share: two tomato wedges, lots of white onion, some green bell pepper. Flour tortillas are pretty plush, beans and rice generic to the point of forgettable. Guacamole and salsa are extremely thin. No problems with the pico de gallo. Three hot sauces on the table, including Cholula. Decor is over the top with year-round Christmas lights and cell service is pretty spotty inside, but there's friendly service, clean bathrooms, more seating upstairs, and a telly over the bar. Future hitlist: ceviche, tacos de carnitas, pork & cheese pupusas.

Delicious salvadorian food!!! I highly recommend! A must go to place. Authentic food, from the beans to the fajitas to the Pupusas. Great service, great ambiance! The fiesta platter has a bit of everything, if you're undecided on what to eat. Must try!!!

Delicious Mexican and Salvadoran food! The salsa is not too spicy and the chips come out warm. I usually eat like 2 baskets of chips and I can't help it but damn they are good! I always get at least one pork pupusa, they come out perfectly crispy on the outside and on the inside its flavorful, filled with pork and cheese with the cabbage slaw on top. I'm drooling as I'm writing this. For an entree, I like the steak and chicken fajitas. They give a pretty big portion too so definitely come with an appetite. The platanos with beans is also a must! The service here is great and theres never been a problem. The owner is amazing, she's so kind and is usually behind the bar. She makes sure you are happy before you leave. On the weekends, it gets pretty busy so be prepared to wait for a table. Parking is a pain and we usually drive around for a good 15-20 minutes trying to look for a spot. Otherwise, this place has great food with a fun atmosphere.

The quesadilla was amazing and so delicious!! Alahin was an amazing server and meeting the owner was a treat as well. New favorite!!

Delicious, delicious food!! The staff was so friendly and we are so happy to find this great treasure of a restaurant.

The decor is simple, no table clothes or frills but it does live up to 'fine cuisine' with excellent food and presentation (another subtle touch is if you leave the table, you return to a nicely folded napkin). We got nearly everything on the menu including all the desserts and Mexican hot chocolate (yum, lightly spicy and piping hot!) . As others have said their guacamole is excellent...do check the charges though bc they added salsa and chips to the tab which we did not order (they removed). Also, the first order of guac came with big bowl of chips, but none with the second order of guac- not a problem though because you do not go hungry. Portions are quite generous. We even tried the ants which was a fun novelty

There was a rose and a candle on the table (vday vibes) and we also received a vday specials menu. We landed on queso fundido to start and a cocktail each: prickly pear marg for her, a viva mexico for me. After fundido'ing it up, we ordered our entrees. We're simple folks it was a 2 carne asada tacos, 1 al pastor taco, 1 pescado taco, and 1 chicken quesadilla. Unfortunately we weren't bold enough to try the insectos. Food was great, drinks were great, service was great. You can pay your tab via Toast for no additional fee which was convenient. There are two, single use bathrooms in there too. Overall, solid spot.

The ceviche is really good, can never go wrong with ceviche, especially if you're going tapas style. You can definitely taste some Cantonese influences. Corazón: Very unique. The beef heart was grilled very tender, and the spicy and tangy dipping sauce was refreshing. I've also never had such large kernels of sticky corn before. Lomo Saltado: Similar to Cantonese black pepper and beef cubes stir-fry, but noticeably coarser. The meat was a bit tough and dry, the sauce didn't coat it well, and it wasn't very flavorful. Chaufa Mixto: Chaufa = chaofan 炒飯 (fried rice in Chinese) A very straightforward transliteration. Similar to Chinese fried rice, it had plenty of wok hei 鑊氣 (wok aroma), which is rare in the US. The beef and chicken were quite tender; however, the shrimp wasn't fully cooked, and you could clearly taste the raw texture inside. Vegetales Salteados: Seasoned exactly like Lomo Saltados, it's even stranger to use it for stir-frying vegetables... It was entirely for the vegetables' benefit; otherwise, it was completely unnecessary. Suspiro: Dulce de leche custard, meringue, and passion fruit glaze, sprinkled with cinnamon powder--it was far too sweet.

When it comes to hanging out in DC, the parking situation will make you reconsider your plans hahahaha! For me anyway... One of my girlfriends suggested this place & made reservations but I don't think you really need them here. We arrived on time and was greeted by the hostess and opted to sit outside since the upstairs was closed. The lime and mango combination swirl was delicious...we ordered a pitcher and it was plenty for us 3 gals. The seafood quesadillas was seasoned very well. Full of flavor...I enjoyed these with a garden salad minus the feta cheese and corn. My salad was fresh and the house dressing was perfectly distributed throughout my salad. My girl friends enjoyed their meals as well. One ordered the same as me minus the salad and added rice and beans and the other ordered the salmon with the stuffed crab...can't remember what it was called on the menu but it also was served with broccoli and she added a side of Spanish rice and beans. When she first said the name, I actually thought it was a some short of shopping plaza and never would have associated it as a Mexican restaurant. I'm not sure it's history, but seems like a staple in the neighborhood as every time I drive by since that conversation with her, I notice how packed and busy it is. I recommended to my friends who were in town that we check it out and we were able to get seated outside relatively quickly for a Saturday evening. Our table started with their drinks. Half of us got the pina colada and the other half had the margarita swirl. I'd say the pina coloda was pretty good; not too strong and the ones who ordered the margarita seemed to enjoy it. We all had eaten before arriving, so we didn't order too much. They also served complimentary tortilla chips with salsa so that was pretty good and gave us something to nibble on. I ended up getting the shrimp tacos and their tortilla soup. The shrimp tacos were good, but the tortilla soup was the highlight for me. It was very flavorful, and full of vegetables like tomatoes, carrots, and corn. It also had shredded chicken and cheese in it, and was so delicious. I would definitely order it again. Our server was also very friendly and regularly checked in on us. The reason for one star off is just due to the cleanliness of the cups and plates on our table. I noticed food residue still on it, and although I personally didn't use the cup or plate, I didn't care to see it on the table.
