We've also tried the tuna one, but we like the salmon one alot more. We've also gotten the 12 piece sushi set and each piece of fish was very fresh and high quality. I would recommend ordering in advance if you're getting takeout, as our order took quite a bit of time to get ready. 2 tacos and 2 sushi sets took an hour, even though estimated time was 30-40 minutes. The food was somewhat good but the service was horrible. The waiter did not listen to our request to cook the raw meat. When we asked if the meat could be cooked she nodded and said yes. However, she served the fish raw and not cooked. We are extremely disappointed in their service. When we asked her to cook the raw meat she said it couldn't be cooked. This confused me because the average IQ of a human in Canada is 99.52 which should be enough to know that raw meat can be cooked. This isn't that hard, just pan fry it or something. I recently visited Hay sushi after reading numerous positive reviews about it however, my experience was highly disappointing and not up to par with the expectations set by the reviews The quality of the food was mediocre and i found a lot of mayo at tempura bits in my sushi which had clearly been fried in old or oil, the salmon nori taco I ordered was mostly filled with rice and lacked flavor. To make matters worse, the service was terrible and the waiters seem to have an attitude problem. It was clear that they were not interested in providing a good experience to their customers. I was super excited to try this and had very high expectation for this place after reading so many great reviews on different platforms. We ordered the mushroom eggplant pasta, 12 piece special sushi set, and the tuna nori taco. The total came up to $58 after the 10% cash discount. The presentation of the food did not disappoint ! The sushi set looked especially appetizing. However, in my unbiased opinion, the food here is not worth the price tag. First off, the tuna nori tacos were good, but since the tacos are relatively big and flat, you cannot get everything in one bite, meaning you'd get one bite of fish, one bite of rice. And the taco shell made of fried nori was not very crispy. The sushi set looked better than it tastes, the rice to fish ratio is similar to what you'd get from every other japanese takeout place, quiet alot more rice than fish. The selection of fish wasn't the greatest, it had unagi, salmon, tuna mix, snapper, fish roe, octopus, scallop, and some other fish. I feel for $28/12 piece, they should be able to offer some more exotic fish selection. The pasta was oily, and a little bland. It felt like something we could have cooked at home. Maybe I've been spoiled by taro fish, but this place does not compare. Overall, this is an okay place if you are looking for something new. But definitely not worth the price tag ! read more

I like the crunchy nori shell and it's a great concept but I think it needs a little adjusting. It wasn't the best quality fish. Probably the end bits. This is a Takeout/Delivery review: Couple of observations: seems there is a lot of nickel and diming on the delivery orders The set menu (combos) items do not include miso soup/salad, as it does when dining in. Paying more for less when doing delivery. I ordered a sashimi combo, and it didn't come with a serving of rice. None of this is clearly described in the menu. And to add: they barely provide enough soy sauce for your meal. I ordered 4 set meals and got 3 packs of soy sauce to share with four other people. Quite an unpleasant dining experience. Soooo good! Not only was the presentation good, the taste was 100%. Each sushi had a flavour of its own with a diff pairing with condiments and sauce. The scallop had a taste or lemon inside, one of them had a hint of ginger . They definitely paid attention to that brings them up a notch. Very happy with this sushi it was "orgasmic". Haven't had such good sushi since dine in precovid. Definitely a returning customer. They still have the 20%. All of this for 30$. Definitely worth it!! 2/5 Absolutely beautiful presentation but I got mostly mid to low quality frozen fishes . Perhaps it's because summer but fishes were definitely more on old side and everyone was extremely unpleased with that. To add more, Hay sushi's sushi isn't on big-average side, they were the size of two toddler's pinkies (they were the smallest sushi I ever had in my entire life) and fish was sliced so thin that I thought I bought sushi from the grocery store. If the quality is right, I don't mind spending money. I used to go to yasu and bunch of other places that's consider high price tag restaurants. However, after spending $80 takeout (sushi tray + 2 kinds of oshi sushi) that's suppose to be enough for 2 ppl (which wasn't even enough for two very petite ladies), it didn't meet the quality nor quantity for the price tag they are charging. So if you are going to order food from here, do it for the presentation, not fit the quality of fish, and be expect to order 1-2 extra portions if you want to be full at the end. I'm giving two stars instead of one because of cute thank you note in my take out and beautiful presentation of sushi tray. read more

Ordered on uber eats, the estimated time for delivery was crazy even though I am 3.6km away it was 75-85 mins, switched to pick up and the time changed to 55-65mins, placed the order.
