This is a great spot that you could easily drive by and never even know was there. We came across it by accident, but were glad we did. In Texas, shops like this are easy to come across further south in San Antonio or even more south in Brownsville, but seem quite rare in Austin. Pretty cool they have something like this here though you'd think there'd be more. If you've never had fruit with chili powder and chamoy, it'll be different, but give it a try. Their sweet and savory combinations work well. Also the portions are generous so a lot can be shared. 4 stars for being in Austin, for the nice staff, and for the perfectly ripened and refreshing fruits they provide. I have yet to try their elotes, but plan on coming back for that, and more fruit. P.S. Parking is horrible and there's may be a line so keep that in mind. read more

Was really looking for a good mangonada. This was not it. A good mango nada should have fresh fruit in it. Here they just used two frozen concoctions thrown into a blender. Very disappointing. read more

3 X 8 oz Elotes @ $3.25 each 2 X 16 oz Mangonada @ 4.50 each Came for the elotes because we did not want to drive to the north for Fanny's Elotes, mistake. All three of us had the same feeling about this elote. I am a Dallas transplant whom can eat the Friendly's taco/Fanny elote combo 5 days a week so I cannot vouch for the ATX Fanny location just yet. As for the Hay Elote elote, no. No sweet corn flavor, no creaminess (runny water consistency), no freshness (their Parmesan cheese smelled foul, did not cut the corn from the cob like Fanny's), no assortment of elote self serve dressings (MX seasonings, MX hot sauces, squeeze yourself limes), just no good. Mangonada was ok, it'll do. Would like some MX chili seasoning next time and some fresh sliced mango pieces. Off to Fanny's for now. read more

The quesa tacos + birria tacos with consommé are delicious. They have Mexican coke and manzanita joya (Apple). The corn in a cup is delicious (white corn) and the mangonada is also really good. Not a traditional mangonada but still really good. So glad we found this place! read more

Pretty much one of favorite spots in Austin for elote! The corn is so fresh and has just the right amount of topping! The nachos (even with corn which I was hesitant about) were super good! The Frescas con crema (strawberries with cream) has to be one of favorite desserts, so simple yet so sweet. But recently they have started selling birria tacos and when I say they are amazing .. they are AMAZING!! They're stuffed pretty nicely so you don't need to order many. I got the birria tacos with and without cheese. Best experience ever! read more

Loved it! Authentic Mexican mangonadas. Great customer service. Definitely recommend.

One of my biggest complaints about people who sell elotes (here in the states) is that they use sweet yellow corn or canned corn. The real Mexican corn uses a white, chewier corn. This is it. This is the place to get your authentic Mexican corn in a cup . It comes with butter, queso fresco, crema, mayonnaise, and of course chile. If you prefer no mayo and more chile, no problem! He will make it the way you like it. A small one (8oz) cost me $3.25. Mine had a little too much water in it so make sure to tell him to drain it well. The place is located in a tiny spot right by the tracks by Webberville and E. 7th. I don't think I can call it a shopping center, so you can easily miss it. There isn't a lot of signage and the only thing that caught my eye was the name "Hay Elotes!" (Meaning there is corn here, or We have corn). They have a few benches outside in their little patio area. Corn isn't the only thing they have here. They also have chamoyadas and mangonadas, ice cream, Aguas Frescas and other delicious snacky snacks. I don't remember seeing any seating inside so you might have to take your corn to-go like I did. LEGIT LEGIT LEGIT! Growing up on the border, I got spoiled by being able to walk across a bridge and indulge. All my favorite homies were there ready to greet me. There was Paco the ellote man, Guiermo the aguas frescas specialist and a plethora of Mexican ice cream and fruit cup joints. Life was easy and somehow, I was not fat. One day, I grew up and moved to Austin and as the years progressed, I came to terms with the fact that I would never get a decent "corn in the cup" in my new hometown. Well, thanks to a super friendly man from Monterey and his cleverly titled establishment (ask a brown person to explain), happy days are here again! Since I'm what some refer to as a "half breed" I can speak to both my chicharon-craving and my mayonnaise-loving peeps. This place is GOOD. We went all out with a Cop of Corn, Mangonada and a Tostiloco. Plus washed it down with a Jamaica and Horchata. An appropriate way to express the level of tastyness is by using in the infamous words of one Tuco Salamanca "TIGHT! TIGHT! TIGHT!" To my white friends, come to the dark(ish) side. Remember that one time I made you try the flavor explosion that is El Regio and you almost peed yourselves with excitement? Well, I now introduce you to the world of Mexican junk food.....you're welcome. read more

My boyfriend and I live in the neighborhood behind this place so we took a walk one day to see what it was all about. Little did we know, it's a HIDDEN GEM! Next thing we knew, we walked here 3-5 days IN A ROW just to get snacks. We got fruit cups, nachos, watermelon frescas, mangonada drink, & the Elotes! ALL of which is DELICIOUS! The fruit cups were my favorite as I love fruit along w the mangonada drink-it's like a mango smoothie and all it needs is tequila! Now we come here regularly as the fruit is soooo fresh and delicious and juicy, the nachos were extra cheesy and the corn was packed of flavor! Did I mention they have ICE CREAM TOO?! AND the staff-I swear we're all new best friends! Since we're regulars, they ALWAYS greet us with a smile and sooooooo friendly! I just adore the ladies working here! read more

Staff was oh so friendly and gave super generous portions. Boyfriend and I visited on a really hot afternoon and ordered a Mango Hill and a small elotes. Elotes were a bit watery and the corn was kind of stiff and not very sweet. I'm also not a huge fan of the chili sauce in my elotes since I usually drop in pepper flakes as an alternative. Mango Hill was refreshing, especially on a hot day. The strawberries were so fresh and the chili sauce on top was such a perfect touch. I was super impressed. We struggled to finish it, so I recommend sharing with a friend (unless you're up for the challenge). I believe they take credit card, but I would go ahead and give them cash. It's so much easier and they can take care of you in seconds. There's also covered picnic benches outside for you to enjoy your food! read more

Delish!!! A cute little place. There aren't enough fruit cup places in austin, but I'm glad I found this one. The Mangonada was amazing! I couldn't finish all the tamarindo on my straw though. I also had the sour hot cheetoes which was my dream dish. Hot cheetoes, pickles, chamoy, and lime! I couldn't even finish it because it was so sour. We also ordered the chicharron dish. Cabbage, pig skins in vinegar, avocado, some sort of cream sauce, and valentino hot sauce all on top of a sheet of chicharron (?). I wasn't a fan of the pig skins so I didn't eat much of this dish. They're chewy. Sorry if I butchered any ingredients. Maybe next time I won't overload on the sour stuff and I'll be alright. Haha read more

Amazing food, I just wanted to write a review because I barely speak any Spanish and they were completely polite to me and Russian friend and her daughter when we went. I read some of the other reviews about them "discriminating against non Spanish speakers" which is completely ridiculous because I ordered in English and they took my order and served my food and it was delicious 10/10 would recommend. Go here now! We stumbled across this place and was pleasantly surprised. I had the coconada, which was coconut ice cream with fresh strawberries, pineapple, whipped cream, pecans, and topped with condensed milk. The coconut ice cream was one of the best things I've ever had. I tried some of the watermelon aguas frescas and was amazed. A tad sweet but wow--that thing was great! I also tried some of the mango shaved ice and liked that as well. Do yourself a favor and try this place. The menu is a little daunting, and the line moves a little slow since everything is made to order. Worth it though! read more

Best elote/snack shop in town! They're the only ones with white corn for their elotes.

I am so sad that this is in another city. Everything is really flavorful and so fresh. The elotes is really good, but the real star of the show for me was the strawberries and cream with granola. It's mindblowingly good, especially for how simple it is. read more

I've been here twice, the first time I noticed that they were extremely nice to other people but when they attended me they were rude and seemed bothered by my presence and it feels likes it had something to do with the fact that I am Asian, they treated all of the caucasian and hispanic people with respect but failed to do so with me, today I went ahead and decided to give them another chance, and again they were extremely rude to me, they responded very unkindly when I asked to try the agua fresca to the point that I just decided to not even do it. I have been to many other places like this with the employees always being very friendly, this is the first place where I felt disliked as a customer. -Moizes O, my boyfriend told me to write this. read more

Elote was disgusting. Never had white corn in an elote. It was hard and the chile liquid tasted nasty. Where's the chile powder. I miss Chicago street corn. Texas corn is trash read more

Went here with my friend looking forward to an elote and first time trying a mangonada. It's pretty cramped a tiny space but line is worth the wait. We ended up getting the sour hot Cheetos out of curiosity. Honestly elote was a huge let down, I feel like there wasn't much flavor, the corn was weird... It was like not juicy and crunchy but kinda chewy. I don't know if that's how I genuine elote is supposed to be but I prefer other places. Which all in all was a little disappointing since the place is called Hay Elotes. However mangonada was delicious, granted this was my first one, I still throughly enjoyed t. Sour hot Cheetos were also the bomb. If you enjoy sour stuff get these omg. My mouth waters just thinking about them. Will be back! Probably not for the Elotes but for other things! read more

OH YUHHH THIS PLACE IS YUHHHHH. Might as well call this place fire cuz that's what it is real talk. Mexican street food done to perfection. I got the Mango hill and the street corn. The mango hill was absolutely extravagant. MMMMM SO GOOD. The only thing that was weird was the little candy on it but I liked it tbh lol. It added some character to it. Presentation was on point for both of em. The strawberries was topped with some of this kinda salty red sauce, ugggghhhhh man it was good. The combination of sweet and salty was just pure perfection. It just goes together so well Gettin this on a hot summer Texas day...well it really doesn't get much better than that real talk. The street was MMM MMM MMMMMMMM. It was a fresh boiled corn (i wish it was grilled, still good tho!) smothered in a few sauces and cheese and YUHHHH THAT THANG WAS GOOD. I'd go here for sure if I'm ever in town again. Like cmon, you can't skip this place. The price you pay is so worth it for what you get. I wanted to try those hot cheetos with cheese and that pineapple mango thing so bad but ya boy was too full. Definitely try them thangs if you can. read more

Hay Elotes - a man sitting at a table with fruit and ice cream - Desserts Near Me - Austin, Texas

Was brought here by my friend after work. We got the mango hill. It's a mango sorbet (kind of) compacted into a mound into a plastic cup. Then a sweet and sour ribbon candy is wrapped around the top. Strawberries are placed like spikes throughout the top. Then they top it off with a chili sauce. Instead of the sauce my friend and I got chileto powder. The mixture of sweet mango, slightly tart strawberries and tangy spice of chileto accented with bites of sour candy... I WENT CRAZY. I'm from California and it reminded me of being back home as a kid eating watermelon chili lollypops. The minutes I spent inhaling this were pure bliss. Even on a day like today that's dreary, damp and windy. I'm so happy. read more

Ay dios mío, Hay Elotes! If you're looking for authentic Mexican favorites, this place is good choice. The staff was very friendly and delivered fast service. I come here whenever I'm craving elotes and it always gets the job done. Like other people have said sometimes the corn is a little watery, but all in all it's going to be the best you'll find on this side of Austin. It's low-cost which is perfect for my college budget. My hubby and I were out and about on a crisp Saturday afternoon and we decided to find a place for a light snack. I remembered seeing Instagram pics of fruit treats that family members posted so I thought that I would give Hay Elotes a try. Their small shop is on East 7th tucked between various storefronts but it was easy to find. Parking was almost non-existent and I wasn't too happy to find a dusty parking lot especially when I just had my car washed and detailed. My disappointment was reversed when I stepped inside and saw so many choices. We ordered to small elotes cups so that we could have them tweaked to our own taste. I also ordered nachos which cane with a couple of spoonfuls of real corn. This was a happy surprise and tasted great. I decided to order a large fruit cup so that we could snack on it at home. Lastly I ordered an ice cold bottle of Topo Chico that they promptly dressed and served over ice with the juice of two fresh squeezed limes. Delish. We took our order out to the picnic table in the side of the shop and enjoyed the creations. One of the workers came out with a fruit cup and we chatted with him while he took his break. He told us that this was a slow day which surprised us as there were at least 29 people in line ahead of us when we arrived. We will definitely be back. Just wish there was a shop in South Austin. read more

Went to this place looking for a watermelon flavored water. Well they went above and beyond! They made a fresh one. I mean literally freshly made in front of me. It was delicious. I also ordered a "helote entero" (whole cob corn). It was delicious. I would suggest less of the red chamoy bc it is a bit spicy and can over power the other flavors. I highly recommend this place for your helote and agua cravings. read more

Found this place from a friends FB post and it looked like something I needed to try! Wow, what a really great snack place! I tried the Mangonada and Sour Hot Cheetos and was blown away. I had placed an order online and after 30 minutes called to get an update and when they had answered they just hung up on me. I then called again and still no answer so I decided to just show up to the restaurant. When I got there they hadn't even noticed there were online orders so they started on my order. They then told me I didn't pay enough because their prices online are labeled incorrectly so I gave them the money I had "owed". I got my order and it was missing items and when I went back yo complain they pretended that they didn't understand. They also asked me why I didn't just place the order over the phone and when I informed them that I called twice they just acted dumb. read more

My rating is based on the food... So before that... The cons, which have nothing to do with the food. The place is really small, so when there is more than 6 ppl waiting it is very congested in there & there's really no order, who ever shouts out their order first goes first. The parking was a nightmare! We almost got hit 2x by 2 trucks trying to get out. There is no space inside or out. So don't expect to eat there. The place to me was easy to find but I can see how ppl who don't know 7th street or the East side for that matter have trouble finding it. But those are the cons. Now pros... Everything is DELICIOUS!!! I always go with a few ppl so we all get different stuff & I feel like I tried a bit of everything. It is all so good!! The price for how much you get seems off (in a great way)... It's so cheap & you get these giant cups just mounted with all this goodness! I have been other places & you pay a few bucks more than this one. This place is really turning into the hidden gem of East Austin! It's a little slice of heaven! read more

If you've had it, then you know what I'm talking about! Plus, it's sitting on a counter in a squeeze bottle so you can get as much as you want. WINNING! A coworker and I go here every week for what we call #fruitcupfriday. We have tried so many different items from the menu, and it's been good each time. Make sure if you aren't good with Spanish, that you make a decision and stick with that decision. I have learned that if I try to change my order, the staff make both of my orders. Only other drawback is the smell of spoiled fruit when you walk into the establishment. I gotta give a bad review to this place because today we went to this place and one hour later everyone start getting sick with loose stomach, vomiting and sore stomach , evidently with a stomach infection , for two of us was the only we ate today so the only reason I think is the lack of cleanliness when they prepare the food and handling the money , I really hope they fix this issue because everybody need a source of income especially this days . read more
