I used to have my personal mechanic (the one my family uses) and I always feel skeptical about him. My skepticism was confirmed when I went in for a car repair because my car kept vibrating and shaking and the rpm kept moving on rest. My family mechanic told me to sell the car to him because the transmission was out and he said he was gonna give me half the value of my car as it was useless anyways. I left him and went to HAC, they quickly diagnosed my car and told me it was just an ignition coil problem. They changed it and gave me a fair price. Took my car in for list of problems Transmission Rebuild took its 2+ times cause of problems after rebuild , Distributor O-ring broke less then 6 months after getting from this shitty place. They stole my car key chain cause it was a NBA La Lakers let chain with a LV Raider Bottle opener couldn't explain how my key chain got taken off my key. They steal of your car when u leave it. Its always hard to find a trustworthy mechanic in a city. My mom has been going to Adelberto for years and he has always provided her great service. When I moved back to Los Angeles I needed to get my starter replaced after getting some bad advice from a local AAA mechanic from Gardena. So I decided to take my car to Adelberto. He provided excellent service and I will go back if I have any other needs for my car. I don't think he has ever overcharged my mom and he charged less for my starter replacement than quotes I received from other mechanics in the area. My brakes were screeching even though I've only had them for 5000 miles and a mechanic somewhere else told me that I should probably get them replaced. I got a second opinion from this place and Alberto lifted the car right there in front of me and took off the tires to see the brakes. He then said there was no significant wear on the brakes, that they were fine, and showed them to me within 5 minutes of walking into the place. He was really nice and seemed genuinely happy that I didn't have to waste money on getting new brakes for my car. read more

My first experience here was awesome. I had my car fixed with adalberto, and service quality and customer service was great. I called just 10 minutes ago, for an oil change pricing assuming it was adalberto. Turns out it wasn't him, and the piece of shit I spoke to automatically gave me really bad attitude and raised his voice forcefully, after I asked the pricing for an oil change as if im an idiot. After, I responded asking what his name is. He questioned why, I said to report this conversation to adalberto. Then he hung up. Adalberto, if you're then owner of the shop, or who ever it is, I don't think i'll be coming back. I had a great experience being in contact with you, but your workers also reflect on the face of this business, and I'm not on board with the disrespect. I am a woman who has paid ridiculous amounts of money throughout my life to unethical mechanics who charged me for work that wasn't needed. A friend told me about Adelberto about 5 years ago and I've been coming loyally to him ever since. I don't know how many sincere, ethical, honest, caring and decent mechanics there are in this town but in Adelberto I have found one. He has never overcharged. If this yelp sounds more like a favor for a friend rather than a legitimate review that's because, in truth, it's both. But only because Adelberto has treats his customers like friends. He has very natural affinity for people and while he don't work for free, don't get crazy, he won't overcharge anyone one red cent. Adalberto is a great down to earth mechanic. I've been to many mechanics over the past 10 years since I always own a couple cars at a time. I would say he is one of the best ones I have found. I will be returning to him with any of my next car issues. Just call a few mechanics once you know what your problem is and get price quotes and most likely Adalberto will be able to beat that price with great reliable work. He fixed my motor mount today and it was half the price some of the other mechanics told me. He is definitely a trustworthy mechanic and you can't say that about most. read more

I read the most recent reviews especially the one by Fernando B dated 2/18/17. So therefore, I decided to give this establishment a call/visit and I am glad I did. I wasn't sure If my starter or alternator was the one needed replacing. In speaking with Adelberto with Hawthorne Auto Center he checked it out for me and explained it was the battery. He did not try to say I needed additional repairs to get more monies. This gentleman was honest and checked other areas of my vehicle. He did not charge extra and he explained other things to look for in cars. He also asked how did I learn about them and if I liked his service. I recommend him for help with your car(s). I will go back for other service that I may need. read more

Adelberto is the real deal folks. My alternator died on my 2007 V6 Camry XLE. Since the alternator is buried in the engine on this model i was told by multiple outlets that this was "A BIG JOB" and got consistent quotes of $900 to $950. Whoa! (Hold on here buddy... lets talk about this!) So after my shock and awe, my wife put out an APB on her Facebook page to find out if anyone had a good mechanic they could refer us too. One of her friends swore by Hawthorne Auto Center and Adelberto. He gave us a quote OVER THE PHONE that was 1/3 the cost of what we were already quoted. I said "Really?!?!" he said "Yes and if you can bring it to me asap I can probably get it done today". Flash! Bang! Boom! I was out the door! I dropped it off to him at 1:15pm, he said give me about three hours and It will be done. This is where my "i doubt it" radar went off. But just as I was being skeptical about this, one of his mechanics was under the hood removing engine parts to get to the alternator. He hadn't even ordered the replacement part yet! Ok... skepticism gone. Now he did tell me it would be a rebuild/refurbished part and I was fine with that. My brother picked me up around 130pm and we went to hang out at his place. While hanging out with my brother and his wife two hours go by fast, at 345pm my phone rings and it's Adelberto. In my head I'm thinking "nooo, it can't be done already, something must have gone wrong" Nope!, Adelberto tells me my car is ready and its good to go. My brother and I get up and get on the road. We pull up, the car is running and putting out 13.3 volts (13.9 volts once i start driving it). He told me they test drove the car and noticed the oil was low and that I need my oil changed but since the level was so low they added some oil for me (free of charge). I was blown away! I paid him for the alternator and gave him extra for the oil since he didn't have do that. Between my wife and I we have three cars and Hawthorne Auto Center will now be working on them. These mechanics are good, fast and trustworthy. You wont be sorry! read more
