Our son had severe reflux, with pain and excessive spitting up. While Dr. Mehta would keep having us back at our insistence, most of the course of our son's reflux treatment was suggested by me as a result of my google searches. Had I not been so involved, we would have stopped at trying one unsuccessful medication and constant misery for our little boy. I was also given very wrong advice, about limiting my nursing sessions with my child to lessen his spitting up. A baby knows when they are hungry and it is not my place to stop that and listen to the crying. Finally seeing a specialist and getting the correct medication, on the other hand, helped tremendously. On the plus side, nobody here ever suggested I stop nursing and switch to a specialized formula, which was very much appreciated. I did not feel like the doctors were interested in creating a relationship with my family. There were also long waits and scheduling mix ups. You can't talk with doctors or nurses on the phone, you must come in for an appointment. We have been with a new pediatrician's office for a year and are much happier now.

He always has a smile on his face and genuinely seems to love what he does. There have been so many times when I waited until the last minute to get a physical done for school, and the friendly office staff always found me an appointment. I've also had to call a few times after office hours, and was able to reach Dr. Mehta through the answering service. The other reviewer said he makes you come in to the office a lot, but every time I have called him, he has given me advice on what to do, and told me to make an appointment only if I'm not feeling better. Honestly, I want to go in to the office and see a doctor when I'm sick, because he can't really "see" me over the phone. The office is really nice. They have a separate sick-child and well-child waiting area, which I really liked. They have a huge flat screen TV in the waiting room as well as plenty of toys and books to keep kids occupied while they wait. I know I'll be taking my kids to see Dr. Mehta!

I also love the way the office is set up and it is so convenient that she is the only doctor that works in the building so the wait time for being seen is very quick. My son became critically ill, and what initially began as one illness quickly spiraled into complication after complication, including several life-threatening diagnoses. During one of the most terrifying times of our lives, Dr. Mehta went above and beyond anything I ever would have expected from his pediatrician. Even while he was being treated at an outside hospital, she made every effort to stay involved. She followed his daily updates, communicated with us regularly, spoke with his medical teams, and made sure everyone was on the same page. At every point, it was clear that my son wasn't simply another patient to her--his health and recovery genuinely mattered to her. And her care didn't end when the immediate emergency was over. Even now, throughout what has been a long recovery, she continues to check in on him, follow his progress, offer reassurance and guidance, and make sure we are moving in the right direction. Knowing that we have a pediatrician who knows his history, understands everything he has been through, and is willing to remain so involved in his care has given me an incredible amount of comfort. I understand that not every family will ever experience the level of fear and uncertainty that comes with having a critically ill child--and I sincerely hope they never do. But as a mother going through one of the most terrifying experiences imaginable, having a doctor like Dr. Mehta in our corner meant more than I can put into words. She attends to our son well and makes time to answer all of the questions we had. I know vaccinations are good but it always makes me sad knowing our son would cry, and every time she would assure us that we are doing the right thing and that he'll move on quickly. I love all the information print outs she gives to us after every visits and our son got a book for his birthday! The best part is Dr. Ettienne can sign! It makes our communication easier than writing on a piece of paper or having an interpreter for every visits! We will stay with Dr. Ettienne until our son ages out from a pediatric care!

We really appreciate the separation of well and sick visit areas -- it's a thoughtful touch that gives extra peace of mind.
