Our son had severe reflux, with pain and excessive spitting up. While Dr. Mehta would keep having us back at our insistence, most of the course of our son's reflux treatment was suggested by me as a result of my google searches. Had I not been so involved, we would have stopped at trying one unsuccessful medication and constant misery for our little boy. I was also given very wrong advice, about limiting my nursing sessions with my child to lessen his spitting up. A baby knows when they are hungry and it is not my place to stop that and listen to the crying. Finally seeing a specialist and getting the correct medication, on the other hand, helped tremendously. On the plus side, nobody here ever suggested I stop nursing and switch to a specialized formula, which was very much appreciated. I did not feel like the doctors were interested in creating a relationship with my family. There were also long waits and scheduling mix ups. You can't talk with doctors or nurses on the phone, you must come in for an appointment. We have been with a new pediatrician's office for a year and are much happier now.

He always has a smile on his face and genuinely seems to love what he does. There have been so many times when I waited until the last minute to get a physical done for school, and the friendly office staff always found me an appointment. I've also had to call a few times after office hours, and was able to reach Dr. Mehta through the answering service. The other reviewer said he makes you come in to the office a lot, but every time I have called him, he has given me advice on what to do, and told me to make an appointment only if I'm not feeling better. Honestly, I want to go in to the office and see a doctor when I'm sick, because he can't really "see" me over the phone. The office is really nice. They have a separate sick-child and well-child waiting area, which I really liked. They have a huge flat screen TV in the waiting room as well as plenty of toys and books to keep kids occupied while they wait. I know I'll be taking my kids to see Dr. Mehta!

Do not support these doctors or this practice. Fair use: This is my opnion and I can share my experience about this practice as these are facts and experiences from myself. The practice is: Dr.Parul S.Jani, MD and Dr.Metah and N.P. Patricia Smawley 1005 Prince Frederick Blvd Prince Frederick, MD 20678 410-535-5555 Today, while waiting for an appointment with Patti, the front desk receptionist, Cherie (the woman with red hair), was very rude when I asked when I would be seen. I had been waiting for 30 minutes, which is unusual when seeing Patti. I happened to ask at the same time another patient was called back. Cherie responded, "They are being seen by Dr. Jani. When Patti gets a room, you will be called back." I said, "Oh, no, I was not asking because they went back. I was asking because I've been here for 30 minutes." I continued speaking calmly, even though she was being very dismissive and rude, seemingly so she could return to talking with her friend, who was another patient. She then said, "Like I said, they are seeing Dr. Jani. You will be called back when a room becomes available." I asked her, "Why do you keep talking about other patients? That is not why I asked when I would be able to go back." I have been a patient at this office for years, and I am familiar with how medical appointments work. There may be patients who are called back before me because they are seeing a different provider. That was not my reason for asking. When I walked away after her rude response, I saw Cherie look at me with annoyance. I told her that I hoped she would have a better day, and she said she was having a great day. I responded that it did not seem like it. When I sat down, an elderly woman next to me appeared shocked by Cherie's unprofessional behavior. When I was called back later, Cherie looked at me in a very mean and intimidating way, as though she wanted to fight me. She was squinting her eyes at me and making other intimidating facial expressions. While I was in the examination room, I overheard her speaking very loudly and openly about my patient status to another patient who appeared to be her friend. Cherie said that my chart showed I had previously been discharged, that Patti allowed me to return, and that everyone was now regretting it. Regardless of the truth of that claim, I hope Dr. Mehta and Associates take this matter seriously. Their front desk staff member openly discussed information from my medical chart with another patient, which may constitute a serious HIPAA privacy violation. Cherie's behavior today was unprovoked, unprofessional, and disgusting. She did not stop at simply being rude. She escalated the situation by attempting to intimidate me with her facial expressions. She then took matters much too far by loudly discussing private information from my chart with another patient. Cherie also disclosed information about another patient by stating who that patient's doctor was. Update- As of 09/01/2026, I have been terminated from the practice. This is what the letter states, "As of the date listed above, you are being terminated from our practice as of 09/01/2026.The relationship between a physician and patient requires a level of comfort on the patient and physician." My take on this is that one the ONLY reason why I stayed at this practice is because Patti is nice. However, I was already one foot out because the some of the front staff are snippy and rude. And if you complain about it the owner Dr.Metah does not want to hear it, he will make sure that you are terminated. My personal information was discussed which breaks the HIPPA Law, I complain about it and I'm terminated? I will make sure that my rights are protected. If you are God fearing, this fits perfectly as, 'Man's rejection is God's protection. This place is negative and obviously is one sided. Do not waste your time at this practice. You will be treated unfairly at one point or another if you disagree.

She attends to our son well and makes time to answer all of the questions we had. I know vaccinations are good but it always makes me sad knowing our son would cry, and every time she would assure us that we are doing the right thing and that he'll move on quickly. I love all the information print outs she gives to us after every visits and our son got a book for his birthday! The best part is Dr. Ettienne can sign! It makes our communication easier than writing on a piece of paper or having an interpreter for every visits! We will stay with Dr. Ettienne until our son ages out from a pediatric care!

The office is well-organized, the staff is consistently friendly, and the environment is clean and welcoming. We really appreciate the separation of well and sick visit areas -- it's a thoughtful touch that gives extra peace of mind. Everyone we've encountered has been so kind to our 1.5-year-old, which helps him feel completely at ease during visits. They genuinely interact with the kids and make the experience positive from start to finish. I recently had to call on a weekend and was connected with a nurse who was incredibly helpful and thorough in answering my questions. That kind of care really stands out. My husband brought our daughter in for an appointment that was specifically scheduled for two shots. In addition, we requested that they look at stitches that had not completely dissolved. Somehow, when my husband arrived, the staff had no idea why she was there and apparently thought the appointment was only for the stitches. This was not a misunderstanding on our end -- the appointment was booked by the nurse for the purpose of getting her shots. Because everyone was apparently getting ready to leave for the day, my husband and daughter were then rushed through the appointment. The fact that the staff had apparently made a scheduling error and were now inconvenienced by their own mistake is not our problem. To make matters worse, this office has previously used a cold-pack buzzer to help distract our daughter during shots. This time, they didn't. It may seem like a small detail, but when you're dealing with a child getting shots, consistency and basic consideration matter. The worst part of the entire experience, however, was what happened afterward. My husband was sent to the manager's office, where the manager proceeded to question him about why we don't bring our daughter in more often. She actually asked, "How do you know she's growing?" Seriously? We can see her. We are her parents. It is completely inappropriate and incredibly condescending for a manager to question a parent about how they choose to parent their own child, especially when there was absolutely no justification for the attitude she took with my husband. Her demeanor was disgusting, judgmental, and completely unprofessional. She then apparently mumbled something along the lines of how it was "good" that he brought her in for her shots because "you know how people are these days." That comment was completely inappropriate and frankly left us wondering exactly what she was implying. There was absolutely no accountability for the office's scheduling error. Instead, my husband was made to feel as though he was the problem. This entire experience was disrespectful, unprofessional, judgmental, and completely unacceptable. Parents should not have to walk into a pediatric office and be made to feel scrutinized or criticized by the people who are supposed to be providing care for their child. What a disgrace.
