This place is the closest thing to L&L Hawaiian Barbecue that I've had in Yuma. The food had that same comforting, flavorful Hawaiian BBQ feel, and everything tasted fresh and well made. We found this place by reviewing Yelp, it was a little hard to find because the Google seemed to want us to drive up to it but the road ends before the sidewalk to the restaurant. Once we realized that, it was easy to park behind it and walk right to it (they're located right beside the movie theater, just to the right). They had a good selection. I forgot the name of the gentleman that took our order, an order gentleman - he was very nice and helpful (egg allergy, so I always have a lot of menu questions). They also offered the option to order online or via their tablet at the counter, so they definitely make it easy. I wasn't impressed with the meal. I ordered Hawaiian BBQ Chicken, which was fine. It was a little rubbery and there was practically no flavor. The lettuce at the bottom of the styrofoam container had more flavor than the chicken itself. They offered hot or soy sauce, I do wish they would have offered more of the sauce they use for the food prep, because I would have taken them up on the offer of it. The hubs ordered Hawaiian BBQ Beef and said his was 'okay'. He had a bit of my chicken and said he did like the beef more than the chicken. Our dishes came with rice and mac salad - they allowed me to do 1 scoops of rice since I'm allergic to egg. The rice was well cooked and tasted fine, but again I would have LOVED to have been offered the sauce they used for food prep. The hubs said the mac salad was not good, he kind of got a fishy taste. Now, it may be that only 1 of those pounds is muscle, and the other 9 are fat, but suffice it to say, Hawaiian BBQ has been instrumental to this worthy cause. The last time we visited, we entered the restaurant and placed a to-go order. After some 30 minutes of waiting, we finally got it. That's way too long to be hangry, so this time I ordered online: One "healthier platter," Atkins-style. This would include barbecue chicken, short ribs, and two fried eggs over a bed of inedible cabbage. Perfect. I arrived on the scene at my expected pick-up time, and I briefly engaged with the lady behind the counter. She questioned my identity and order, despite my being the only customer in the store for the only pick-up bag in her midst. I didn't mind, for the truth was on my side, as was all the protein. As soon as I got home, I dug into this mighty meal. I wasted no time with the cabbage, for that was a distraction. I mixed the eggs with flavorful bites of barbecue and appeased my anabolic demands. It was one hell of a lunch. So, give this place a try. They do have the standard stuff like rice and macaroni salad, plus those super-sweet Hawaiian beverages. The portions of the food seems really large but the majority of it is fillers. I ordered the short ribs and for sides, I picked rice and a side salad. The short ribs came on a pile of cabbage. The meat was tender, juicy, and had decent flavor. The meat was cut really thin. Everything else was just okay. There wasn't a ton of meat but there was lots of lettuce for the salad and lots of rice. I do like that they carry the Hawaiian ice teas I'm the can. The food seemed slightly over priced. Atmosphere: 1 Star - When I opened the door @ 7:15 PM I was met with silence. WTF, no 5-0 music? Some "no" kind of aloha spirit. Service: 1 Star. No smiles, no greeting. Only after I thanked her did she mutter a thank you back. Sad. BBQ Ribs: 2 Stars - Dry, good flavor but dry. A few thin pieces. Teri Beef: Same as the ribs except dryer Teri Chicken: 5 Stars - Thigh meat, moist, flavorful and lots All meat sitting on a bed of uneven sliced cabbage. Aw, little better knife work eh kitchen, OK. Rice: 1.5 Stars - Taste like cheap Cal Rose Max Salad: 3.5 Stars - Not bad but needs a pinch of salt and pepper, something besides cheap mayo. Yuma, you should be so lucky to have this awesome little Hawaiian BBQ joint. They offer BBQ beef, short ribs, chicken and Kalua pork; saimin noodle soup, salads and also burgers (they have a white fish burger and a Teriyaki beef burger, for example). They even have a menu for kids. And they cater. The restaurant is located in an unfortunate spot, though: in an outdoor mall area right next to a movie theatre. What a strange spot! They seem to keep busy enough, though. You have my endorsement for the katsu and musubi. Granted, the musubi has about two pats too many for the rice, the flavor is on point. The katsu was done perfectly! Not too heavily battered -- no sharp edges -- and not at all soggy. If you order the combo plate and don't want the rice and the potato salad, as if they will substitute for a different side. I got the OK -- pretty sweet there. And it's a tiny spot. Very informal. Not a date night kind of spot. But perfect for family dining. And certainly a nice spot to stop in before checking out a movie. read more

They give you a huge portion of chick and beef with one strip of short rib that is super thin. I would love to see a good balance of the meat portions. The flavor is great that the short rib reminds of kalbi seasoning that most flavor tends to be sweet. The server gave my order to another customer by accident so I waited longer than usual for my food, but the owner came up to me and apologized. The service could be better as I asked for water and never was given the water cup till I went up there to ask again. I have been here a few times. Today I ordered the Kalua pork. It was juicy but a bit too salty for me. The rice was fluffy and fresh. The macaroni was ehh. The menu reads like a Hawaiian place from 10 years ago when it become popular. I do like some oldies but goodies but also love variety. I think It was a better value I would have given one more star. They don't have wifi anymore. The place is clean. The drink size is tiny. The staff is knowledgable and friendly. I get the feeling this place survives due to its location. To start off we are fans of L&L hawaiian bbq, i guess for us, as well as many that is the standard to meet and this place falls far below. We ordered 2 Loco Moco's and 2 BBQ mix over the phone and told us the order would be ready in about 20 minutes. Approx 20 min later when we arrive we are told its not ready yet and it should take about another 15 min to be ready because it is too big of an order for 4 regular sized plates (considering they have an empty restaurant). With a total of $50+ dollars and paying $3 extra per meal for an extra rib in each bbq mix for a total of 2 per plate, we definitely expected our double scoop of rice and actual meat on our ribs no just the bones. They seem to have a quality control issue with either the cook or owner who always seems to be hovering over the staff be one of our plates came out ok the other was all bones barely any meat. Not too much flavor, and the meat we got was slightly burnt. Loco moco Missing the extra scoop of rice, gravy seems a bit too salty and not enough, so the meal as a whole was a bit dry, my eggs were supposed to be over easy, while the yolk came out fine, they somehow managed to deep fry the egg white over all this restaurant indeed leaves you wanting more and makes you feel a bit ripped off for the money. I believe that if the management takes the time to step back and evaluate how their staff is working together, possibly even getting the owner out of the kitchen so the staff can do their job and focus on sending constantly good quality food out the door every time, this could be a pretty good addition to the Yuma Palms Regional Center, but until then, this one is probably one to steer clear of read more

Being from Hawaii all I can say is this restaurant is an L&L Hawaiian BBQ Knick off. Ordered the BBQ mix and a Spam Musubi. Bother we're pretty good except the Teri Beef was a bit dry and it came with 1 scoop of Mac Salad and 1 scoop of Rice. Locals expect 2 scoops of rice :). I visit Yuma quite often for work, and my go-to for food is usually this place. Is it the best food I've ever eaten? No. But, it's a really good, cheap option, conveniently located next to everything! The people are super friendly that work there, there's always a movie playing so you're never bored, and the food is good. I always get the chicken teriyaki bowl that comes out just above $7 with tax. I'm always on a budget when traveling, so it's nice to be under $10. The male bathroom has no lock on its door.. so don't take a deuce while you're in there. Someone else might walk in and see your junk. Food Preparation: Unfortunately, this place uses uncle ben's or some other type of rice. The rice clumps and is overly moist - ie mushy. I only ordered the Portuguese sausage and katsu musubis. Not only is the service terrible but the food is overpriced, ill-prepared, and gave us food poisoning!! My aunt & I ordered a yellow chicken curry, chicken Katsu plate, spam musubi, and milk tea boba. The milk tea boba was very sour and we returned it for a red bean smoothie instead, after some arguing. The musubi was not a proper Spam musubi but merely a small slice of raw Spam on a large hunk of rice - it was a 5:1 rice:Spam ratio. The curry had only about four small pieces of chicken in it, and was mostly sauce and white rice. Finally, the large katsu plate was supposed to come with two scoops of rice but only came with one, and I was asked to pay extra if I wanted more than one small Katsu sauce container.
