We got the Kona iced coffee with Kona coffee ice cubes. It was great. I recommend it.
Daniel B.

We stopped by Hawaii Gelato not for gelato, but for coffee. My wife noticed the coffee sign hanging outside on the front door: "Kona Iced Coffee with Kona Coffee Iced Cubes." That's what drew us in. The coffee tasted high-quality; sweet, creamy, and delicious. It was cold, refreshing, and hit the spot; a perfect pick-me-up for an afternoon stroll on Front Street. A great thing about Hawaii Gelato's Kona Iced Coffee was it never tasted watered-down, even after the ice cubes melted, because the cubes were made with coffee. Why don't more cafes do this? We didn't try the gelato, which is supposed to be "the most authentic Italian gelato on the island," because we'd just eaten a bunch of shave ice at popular Ululani's down the street. Maybe next time. If you're looking for quality caffeine in Lahaina, I recommend Hawaii Gelato. While the business is known for its wide assortment of unique gelato flavors (30+), they have a full-service coffee bar too. The gelateria and cafe operate at separate "windows" at the checkout counter, so you don't have to wait in the gelato line if all you want is coffee. The cafe is in the back. Overall, this place wasn't too busy when we visited around 3:30pm on an ordinary Saturday. During our visit, the cafe had a fairly standard selection of coffee drinks including espresso and espresso-based drinks. Most were available in three sizes - small 12 oz, medium 16 oz, large 20 oz - and ranged in price from as little as $3.00 for a small cup of hot coffee to $7.25 for a large frappe. A few non-dairy milk options were available (soy, almond, and coconut milk) plus over a half-dozen syrup flavors including coconut and Macadamia nut. There's limited seating inside. They have a small nook with tables and chairs, but it was closed due to COVID when we were there. Not that you really need seating to enjoy coffee and gelato. The shop shares a space with and is next-door to The Gold Mermaid jewelry store and gift shop. Free street parking is available on Front Street and on various side streets nearby. Hawaii Gelato opened in July 2012. They stay active on social media. Check out the shop's Facebook and Instagram (@hawaiigelato) pages below for the latest. Conveniently located on the strip downtown stop here for some gelato. Lots of flavors to choose from and they all looked good. I may have gotten two flavors to try by myself (no judgment allowed).

This gelato fit all of my expectations. Lots of flavors? Check. Good flavors? Check. Gelato and Sorbetto? Check. Coffee flavors? Check. Chocolate flavors? Check! Their gelato truly tastes like Italian gelato. I got the Lemon and Kona Mud Pie gelato! They were both amazing! It just depends what you are in the mood for! I always love trying a gelato and a sorbetto!

Nothing is as good as authentic Italian gelato in Italy, but this comes pretty darn close! Nice selection of gelato and sorbetto flavors. We tried the hazelnut gelato, raspberry sorbetto and, double? chocolate gelato. Omg! Totally heaven. Prices are a bit pricey since it's in Lahaina, but totally worth the splurge. We will come back next time we're on Maui!

Stopped at this Gelato spot to grab a couple of gelatos with expresso. Sooooo yummy. I need a little caffeine boost with a delicious Maui icecream. This hit the spot.

Great presentation. Delicious! We stopped by after dinner and it was better then the gelato we had the night before at a different location

The lady serving us was so fun and full of energy. She was dancing and singing while helping us. It's just a cute vibe with a gift shop attached right to the gelato shop. They have such fun and tropical flavors. They let you sample flavors too before ordering!

Kona mud pie and strawberry guava Gelato

This gelato shop is located in old Lahaina and has a gift shop toward the back. Walking in, you are able to see their whole selection of gelato, at least 12 different flavors. I went with the double scoop - Kona mud pie and strawberry guava. Both were tasty. If I had to pick, I'd have the strawberry guava. It was very refreshing and a unique flavor you don't see at all ice cream shops. I do wish that they gave me a little more gelato for the price, which was a little more than $8. Overall though this place has a large selection of flavors of gelato which are more unique in my opinion compared to the other ice cream and gelato places in Old Lahaina.

Fruit gelato flavors

Fresh gelato island style can be found here in Front Street. Cozy and quaint gelato shop with a variety of fresh fruit to indulgent flavors. Fruit flavors from Maui pineapple, mango, strawberry, Lilikoi (passionfruit), island and decadent flavors from coconut, macadamia nut, coffee, salted caramel, chocolate and more. Lilikoi is fresh fruity and delicious, macadamia nut was creamy, but the nuts were ground up to "coffee grinds" size, was was pretty gritty- I would leave the nuts whole and chunky. Salted caramel was creamy and delicious. One ding, is that they still are "sampling" during the pandemic, which is their choice, but other food service and restaurants don't due to the potential spread. Overall great place to get your gelato, we come here often!

Aloha served here

Came here on a whim after hanging out at a nearby spot. Ice cream always seems to call my name, ya know? You can see all their gelato lined up nicely from the street, enticing you to say yes yes yes to dessert! It certainly got my attention. While oooing and aaahing at all the different flavors, I was transported back to my time in Italy where I ate gelato every. day. everyday. I had every intention of getting gelato up until I got to the counter and took a peek at their menu. I found they also have shave ice, smoothies, & coffee. I had a long drive back home and thought a nice little pick-me-up would probably be the better option. I went with the Paradise Mocha which is made of coconut sorbetto, almond milk, espresso, & chocolate. Sooo, I technically still got a taste of their sorbetto options, albeit mixed into this delicious, delicious mocha concoction. It had just the right amount of caffeine to get me through my drive and did I mention it was absolutely tasty? The girl behind the counter even gave me the extra stuff in a separate cup so that it wouldn't go to waste. The lady behind the cash register was also delightful and friendly. ALOHA is definitely served here even in the middle of such a touristy street. I think about the paradise mocha often and will definitely come back for it & maybe some gelato in the future! My drink cost a little over $6 which is standard for the area. A small cup of gelato will cost you about $5 and a large $7. I'd recommend coming here vs. the establishment across the street that'll give you smaller servings of ice cream at the same price. You'll get more bang for your buck!

The presentation of there freshly made gelato was on point. There was a variety of flavors to choose from. I ordered a medium sized Kona Mud Pie that consist of coffee and chocolate ice cream with Oreo pieces. It cost a little over $5. They also sell shaved ice, drinks and coffee. The store is connected to other shops. The service we okay. There was only one staff so a few customers had to wait a bit. Overall, I'm glad I visited this gelato shop. The gelato was delicious.

Gelato is insanely good here. The Kona Mud Pie here is incredible, get it, it is perfection.

I'm an adult, and if I want Sea Salt Caramel gelato for dinner, I will. The shop has great tropical flavors plus some mainland faves. Rich quality, friendly & helpful staff!

Delicious gelato with decent dairy-free options. I had the coconut affogato ... the absolute best on Front Street.

The Maui pie gelato was delicious. The Kona coffee ice cream was subtle but balanced perfectly with the chocolate fudge and macadamia nuts.
