Hawai'i Cat Café is one of my favorite little places near my home that features adoptable, adorable cats and tasty drinks and snacks. They have a great mission: They team up with the Hawaiian Humane Society to showcase cats and kittens that are available for adoption, and if you are vetted and selected, you can take your chosen cat(s) home for their new life with you! Even if you're not in the market for a new companion, you can go to the Café, get a coffee or Italian soda, eat a scone, and pet adorable cats. There's always a nice rotating mixture of frisky kittens and older cats, and some are napping while others are playing. There are toys in the room where the cats are so you can interact with them. I always recommend reservations but you can walk in and see if there are spots available. You get lots of time to interact with the cats and it's usually not packed so there's room to interact with multiple kitties. Please check it out--it's such a good cause! read more

This is such a fun and interactive experience with cats that are looking for their forever homes. All of them are very well behaved. The price is also very affordable compared to other cat cafes. Reservations are recommended. I really like that the visit time is an hour instead of 30 minutes like some other places that charge double the price, which is honestly kind of crazy. I came with my daughter and it was $31 total for an hour of playing with the cats, which I think is totally worth it. They also have a cafe, which adds a nice touch to the experience. read more

My family had the best time here! We were visiting from the Bay Area and decided to add this place to our toddler-friendly itinerary. My little one LOVES cats but we're not ready to adopt a pet just yet. So, we decided to spend an hour here so she could get her kitty fix. The employees here were so friendly and took the time to chat about each kitty, how to best interact with each of their unique personalities and brought out cat treats so we could feed the cats. The cats seemed to be well taken care of and the facilities were very clean and well kept. In terms of drinks, I would say they were mediocre but we were there for the cats anyway. Although, considering the price, I was a little disappointed that the lemonade we ordered was just poured from a Kirkland branded bottle. When we were leaving, the employees let my daughter choose from a stack of cat stickers which put another big smile on her face. Overall, clean facility, friendly workers and super cute kitties. Our kid loves cars so we brought her to Hawai'i Cat Cafe for her birthday and she absolutely loved it! We looked at reviews and saw great things. We easily reserved spots online but they also accept walk ins. We arrived and checked in. They give you a buzzer to let you know when your time is up. The nice thing is the timer doesn't start until you enter the car area. So the time waiting for your drinks doesn't count. We ordered our drinks and those were actually really yummy. Then we entered the car room. There were so many cats, all with different ages and personalities. Overall they were all really friendly and loved playing and being petted. Some let us hold them and cuddle. The hour went by so fast! We definitely loved the experience and highly recommend it. We love that all the cats are adoptable too. One thing to note is packing is either on the street or in one of the few spots behind the building. read more

LOVED!!! You can pay for either a 30 minute session or 1 hour session with the babies. The time went by so fast because we loved every minute of it. You can reserve ahead of time but they also accept walk ins which is what we did. 10 people at a time are allowed. You can order drinks which are delicious and take them in with you, just watch them to make sure the cats don't drink from them; some of them love straws. You need to hand sanitize of course and read some rules before entering but nothing too crazy! I ordered the iced calico latte and it was SOOO GOOD! It's so peaceful being there with the cats. Fun place that has lots of cats, mostly kittens, to hang with. We did not order any drinks or food but thought an hour visit would be fun. The 13-24 kittens were super active, running around and playing withr various toys. A few adult cats were not super interested in people and stayed away. A bunch of the kittens eventually got tired and faded into a nap. What stands out here is how many cats are adopted from here. The had a sign indicating 3,469 cats adopted to date. A must see when visiting Honolulu! There are other cat cafes on the island but this one has the SWEETEST rescue kitties. It's only $21.99 for a one hour session. You first walk into a little cafe and shop (they sell souvenirs and other merch) where you can help yourself to a delicious drink or snacks. They go over some of the rules before you step into the cat room. The workers do an amazing job answering questions and talking about all the cats. They explained how the adoption process to take a cat back to the rest of the states is quite easy and I was so tempted to take some home - hopefully next time :) the cats are super adorable, the space was quite large and spacious and you can even give out treats for all the cats to come running over to you! It was so nice to see how socialized the cats were cuddling up against one another. I had such a great time and can't wait to come back someday. read more

During our visit to Hawai'i, my partner and I wanted to check out a cat cafe on the island and decided to visit Hawai'i Cat Cafe. Our first visit was okay but most of the cats were sleeping and we didn't want to bother them. This was around 5:30 pm. We were told that around this time, the room was warm from the sun's rays so it made the kittens nappy. We were told it's best to visit around the time they open or near closing because that's when the kittens are most energetic. So we came a second time around 10:30 am. We played with so many of the kittens, and this second time there were 3 or 4 really small kittens! It's really cool they're partnered to find these kittens home and it seemed like they get adopted pretty quickly because the second time we came a few of the kittens have already been adopted. I was told that Moose, a tuxedo kitty who sat on my lap the first and second visit, is a cuddle bug for a lot of visitors who can't adopt so I hope he finds his furever home soon also we were told that there are options to adopt and fly the kittens home with you so if you're a visitor to the island, don't let that stop you from helping a kitten find their furever home lol Got calico lattes the first and second visit and they were good every time. I think it was a macadamia nut flavored coffee, and my partner also said he saw a coffee machine so this cat cafe has solid coffee. We brought our young daughter and her friends to celebrate her birthday since she's always dreamed of having a cat. We went into the cafe first and ordered some drinks, which the barista made so well and quickly. While we waited, we read the rules and prepped to go inside the room with the kittens/cats. The room attendant was very kind and was very helpful in letting us know about the different cats and temperaments. Our daughter had the most wonderful time. Some of the kitties climbed onto her lap and some were a bit more reserved. It was fun to see all the different personalities. We signed up for an hour and that was the perfect amount of time to enjoy them but not stay too long to overwhelm them. Very clean space and well run with a beautiful mission to get the cats adopted. From the moment we walked in, you can feel the love. The staff are genuinely kind, warm, and so attentive -- not just to the guests, but to every single cat there. Are you on vacation and miss your cats at home? Come visit the Hawai'i Cat Cafe! For $17 you can spend 30 minutes with some adorable adoptable kittens and cats! They also serve drinks. I got the tortie tropical tea. We wandered in on a whim after a long-ish walk and wanted a drink to cool down and to spend time with cats! The drinks are made to order and came out quickly. They were very refreshing. You are allowed to bring your drinks and outside snacks into the cat room if be warned some cattos are mischievous. After purchasing your time you are given a buzzer which will vibrate when your time is up. The cat room is quite spacious. There are multiple tables and window side bench seating and cat trees. When we arrived around 3-4pm most of the cats were snoozing. They were all very friendly. The room is air conditioned so it was a great break for people. I noticed some had tipped ears. They had a lot of young kittens too! I think that 30 minutes was the perfect amount of time. You can hold the cats (be respectful if they squirm and say no), pet them, they have wand toys, and near the end of our time one of the employees came around and gave us treats to give to the cats. The wall near the large viewing glass has photos and the names of all of the current adoptable cats. The employees care and know the cats well. The cats seem happy. Maybe you still miss your cats at home. They have a lot of merchandise for sale including cat toys! read more

I took my youth group there and it was such a rewarding experience. First, the manager and staff really bent over backwards to accommodate our group, even extending their hours for us. The staff was friendly & knowledgeable and it's always awesome to support a local business that has a great mission. This is a rescue organization that provides homes for cats they save from various situations such as being abandoned, abused or found on the streets. Their cats are adoptable to good homes and are treated well at their café. Unlike other Cat Cafe's on island that import their cats and do not rescue or adopt out any cats. It was such a healing experience for the kids in my group to engage with the cats, especially for their mental and emotional well-being. Some of the cats come from a traumatic background and the kids learned to interact gently with them. We had a great visit to the Hawaii Cat Cafe last night and the parents & kids really enjoyed it. Their assortment of baked goods and drinks is awesome too! The kids loved all the drink choices and they were all so delicious. They also have such cute merchandise for cat lovers. One of the kids got a cat keychain and other merch. One of our students adopted her cat Daisy from here 3 years ago and has been so happy ever since. This is a wonderful place to visit for kids, families, and people of all ages. Educational, rewarding, and even healing for mental and emotional well-being. Feels good to support a local business that rescues cats and adopts them out to good homes. Thank you for all that you do. I booked an online reservation for 3-4pm. It was a little hard to find this cafe but we finally found it. It's the building between the Hawaiian Bank and Texaco gas station. There were only 3 parking spaces available in the back but we were lucky to snag one. Upon entering, we checked in at the cafe's cashier station with an employee and she took our drinks orders. While making our orders, she had us sign a waiver for each adult. Service was very friendly! Our drinks were pretty good! I liked my husband's Tortie drink better than mine since the blended Orange Cream had a very very subtle hint of orange in it but still tasted good. Once we got our drinks, we were handed a buzzer to let us know when our time was up in cat room. We sanitized our hands and enter through the first door leading to the cat room and then the 2nd door once the first was closed all the way. The cat room had like maybe about 8 cats in it. The room itself was beautifully decorated with cute vibrant colors. The cats were all cute and well behaved. Most of them were sleeping since they were tired out from playing earlier. Each cat had a photo with their name on the wall so you can tell who is who. An employee was also available inside the room for any questions. There were plenty of beds and toys for the cats as well as food and water. You can tell they are greatly cared for and it's nice that each cat is up for adoption. read more

What a great place to check out if you're missing your cats at home! Or even just in the mood for some good coffee! My fiancee was missing our kitty back home, so I surprised her and brought her here. I think it's great there's a place like this here on the island, there should be more all over the place tbh. There's parking in the back and you can't miss it, right next to the gas station. The coffee here was great. But we came for the cats, lol. Please make sure to read all the rules before entering. You pay by the half hour or hour. The prices were very reasonable. There were 21 total cats when we got there! They were all over the place, sleeping and playing. The cats were all very friendly and seem very use to having people around. Most of the cats were kittens, and they were all adorable. I was chatting with one of the employees, and most cats get adopted pretty quickly. Over 3000 cats have been adopted since they opened, which was fantastic to hear. There were a few cats who have been there since June, which was heartbreaking. We were tempted to bring one home.. It was really sad to hear. If you're around and love cats, or even thinking about adopting, please check this place out. They can make arrangements for everything, even if you're from the mainland. What more can I say?? We tried getting in last time without a reservation to no avail; this time, I made sure to book us in advance. We went around the end of the day and although most of the kitties were snoozing, there were quite a few kittens running around and playing. It's a nice pick-me-up if you miss your cats back home or just want to pet something soft for 30 minutes or an hour. All of the kitties are up for adoption! I suggest coming around 5 or 6pm when the cafe clears out a bit, so you can maximize your time with the kitties. Came across this cat cafe getting gas after dinner one night and saw the CUTEST little shets in the window and immediately reserved a couple spots for the next day. Lots of spots available, also can walk-in. Did not disappoint. Was $21 pp/hr, which was a tiny bullet to bite considering the Humane society is right around the corner but I'd do it again. There were about 20 cats, many of which were kittens and all were available for adoption. They seem to have a pretty high turnover rate which also. All of them were very friendly, some more cuddly than others and you're welcome to pick them up--unlike the MOFF ones (could go on a whole tangent about the underwhelm of that visit but don't even wanna dedicate a post to that KRISPR cat place no matter how pretty they were). They also have drinks, ofc, we got a latte which was pretty good. Fully booked up in cat space at home but someone pleaseeee go and get a couple in my honor. On a recent visit to the islands and after a delicious tonkatsu supper at Ginza (so popular Ginza has gotten) down the street as we moseyed past after supper deliberately on the same side of the street as I had spotted this on the way to supper and suspected I may get a no if we were on the far side, as we moseyed past I was all let's go in as they have tea. And I didn't realize there was a fee but it wasn't a super big fee and overhead is high so regardless of what some here have said don't sweat it. But I still got the no so had to just do it and once inside the other frown went upside down and ended up playing with all the furry beasts even more than I did. I've never been to a cat cafe. I have friends that love them and I can see why. Cats are cool and the 15 or so running around that afternoon were supper fun and adorable. Thankful for the folks that make this possible and thankful it isn't here for as if it was my crib would now be filled with 15 fuzzheads. A half hour passes like five seconds and before you know it your time is up. Such as life, I suppose. But more fun. Definitely a different kind of island activity if you're visiting. My kids and I had our first experience bonding with cats at a local Hawaiian cat cafe. They require an adult to accompany small children to the cat bonding room. It costs $17 for half hour. When we visited, it was a bad time since the cats were napping xD It is impolite to wake a cute kitty sleeping. So I would not really go there around 2 or 3 pm to bond. I was also disappointed at the limited selection of pastries that was offered at their cafe. Hopefully they will add more variety of food to make it more welcoming for people who simply want to hang out and have afternoon tea with snacks. The cafe is tiny with limited parking spaces. My spouse and I saw this place on our way to lunch and absolutely stopped here on our way back to our hotel. The staff are so kind, the drinks are delicious, and the CATS ARE SO CUTE. We spent 30 minutes with the cats and it was so much fun. These cats are all adoptable and if we could, we definitely would have adopted one because they're all just so cute! The cats are all different ages and when we went there was a kitten! We were in the space with a family and another guest, but it never felt too crowded and there are plenty of spaces to sit and watch/play with the cats. Cats were super cute and a couple were very friendly when we visited. Place was super clean and cats look well taken care of. You have to make a reservation online to see the cats and it's very pricey and we got there on time but had to wait 10 minutes. That's because the place is a coffee shop too and only one guy working the coffee bar and checking people in to see the cats. It wasn't as enjoyable because they have an attendant inside watching you, which I understand but it was just awkward. Some of the stuff they sold were cute but too expensive for what it was. I had a phenomenal experience here! It was super worth it to play with the cats and support the Hawaiian humane society. They provide many toys for you to play with the cats. You can buy food or drinks (not included in the session cost) and I liked their almond croissant! This is a fantastic place to go if you're looking to adopt a cat or just love cats and want to spend time with them. There's a lobby area where you enter, show proof of vaccination with ID, pay for your cat visit, can order coffee or pastries, and wait for your turn. I initially didn't want a pastry or coffee because I wasn't hungry at the time. But my boyfriend got a toasted croissant and it came with a flavored butter. As soon as I saw it, I changed my mind and he gave me half. haha! It was yummy for my tummy. Staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about all the cats there. They know their names, personalities, and how long they've been there. I think we spent half an hour there, interacting with all the different cats. Some were more playful than others. Some stayed in the cubby holes; you wouldn't even know they existed if you didn't look inside. The cats range in age and size from little kittens, to medium size teenager and young adults, to large grouchy hissy adults. The younger they are, the more expensive to adopt. We were thinking we'd bring one home. Unfortunately, the one we had our eyes on (Pineapple) was being a jerk. I'm not sure if Pineapple was a boy or girl. Pineapple sat up high on a pedestal and hissed at us when we tried to pet her. We were told that her family moved and could not take her, so left her behind. She had been in there for some time and the stress of seeing new cats come and go was taking a toll on her. If she had been nice and cuddly, we would've taken her home. Tsk, tsk! read more

Super cute little cat cafe, stopped by on our visit to Waikiki from SF. The actual entrance is on the right side of the building; the entrance to the street is locked since that's where the cats are. When you go in you will probably wait around fifteen minutes if it's busy; we got drinks and filled out short waivers while we were waiting. There is only one bathroom stall in the building. Drinks are on the pricier side but you are supporting an adoption agency/kitties so I didn't mind. Most of the kitties there were two months old and there were a couple on the older side, around two years, but all were very chill and some were very rambunctious. I will say that if you don't know when to stop bothering a cat, prepare to get scratched - it's just common sense to leave someone alone if they start hissing at you. One thing is that the buzzer they gave us to determine when our time was up was very quiet and only beeped once. Make sure you keep an eye on when your time is up (we booked half an hour, which went by too quickly)! I'd love to come back and visit when I come back to Hawaii from the mainland. Mahalo! read more
