The best place to visit with the greatest owners. My review is long over-due but it is important to leave it! I came here during my vacation in Hawaii. We drove by and noticed this place and gave the number a ring via Google, and we were able to get an appointment on short notice. The owner came out with a little money, as he was even generous enough to pay for my parking. We tried the dole whip and the other treats that they offered and all of them were delicious. You can tell that the owners are really passionate about cats and kittens, and they really care about customer service. There is a lot of thought and energy that has been put into this place. The cats were all friendly but remember they are still cats so they have claws. If anything, some just wanted to play and were a little more assertive about it :) I was so delighted with the experience that I made a voluntary donation for $100. Covid has destroyed a lot of small businesses and I would hate to see this one go even though I am from California. Thank you Kitty Cafe! Hope I visit again soon. read more

My fiance and I like to call ourselves cat lounge connoisseurs. Just jokes- that's just me, in my own head calling myself that. But we do visit cat cafes/lounges more often than not. We go to the two in town once every few months, and enjoy the wide range of cats and kitten alike. Rebekah L. introduced us to this new kitty cafe early late last month, however with our schedules and the busy-ness of this lounge, we were only able to schedule a visit this past weekend. So we loaded up, and drove to meet Rebekah in not-so-small Kailua Town. We lucked out on street parking and met up with our friend to walk into the most kitschy kitty place of our dreams. Literally. The waiting area was decorated with cat posters and comfy chairs to wait for check in. The most impressive part was the huge cat tiki that commanded attention as soon as walking in. One of the cat owners, Heather, advised that the statue was commissioned and the work was so beautifully done it had me wondering if I wanted a cat tiki in my apartment.. After check in, we were directed to the snacks for purchase before entering the 'cat room'. We opted for both treats, and it would be brought into the cat room after it was made. The dole whip was delicious and such a generous portion too. We also tried the acai bowl for 'research purposes' and I was shocked to learn in was vegan. The acai bowl sweetness wasn't overpowering as it sometimes can be, and the granola had a nice crunch to it. So far this kitten lounge has my favorite snacks- definitely blew the previous bean water and tea out of the water. The nicest touch (in my opinion) was that the owner also directed us where the bathroom was before starting our cat adventure. It was a very nice touch as many places do not offer bathrooms, especially cat lounges. We sanitized our hands and walked into the cat area. There was a main cat area, currently decorated in the tiki/Old Hawaii style with tiny grass huts and aloha shirt cats framing the walls. One thing I was surprised and delighted to discover was that there was multiple cat rooms! To the left of the main room, there was two smaller rooms, decorated 'cat' themed as well, with Chinese Cat Paw wallpaper and cat trees and toys all over. There was 'human' seating room all over the place, and the different rooms allowed much more space and time with cats than it would have been with just one big room. There was enough hiding space for the kittens to chill out for a nap. However they were relentless in their playing and just general 'kitten-ness' that there wasn't much napping when we were there. We currently have a soon to be three year old cat, and have been on the hunt for a possible candidate for our shy guy. One thing I didn't notice beforehand (in my excitement for cats) was that the lounge was only meant for kittens, and not cats of all ages. It didn't take away from my experience at all, but I was pleasantly surprised. My fiancé ended up falling for a cute tiny kitten named Kona, however it wasn't meant to be and we didn't end up adopting her. After our hour was up, we said a heartful goodbye to the kittens and the Owners, and left feeling much more relaxed than when we came in. We will be adding Aloha Kitty Cafe into our roster of cat lounges to visit and cannot wait for our next kitty play date! read more

We had an amazing experience at the Aloha Kitty Cafe! The baby kitties are SOOOO well behaved and you can tell they're very well cared for. If we had the ability we would have taken in a couple of those sweet babies. We had some mango pineapple swirl whip...and it was as delicious treat to go with the experience. AMAZING!!! So much cheaper than therapy!!! Oh my gosh, this place is so cute and so much fun. The service is very friendly and so are the cats! There isn't an odor, and the place is very well-kept and decorated. The cats just come right up to you and sit in your lap, they're all so sweet, and there's so many! We reserved a visit time on alohakittycafe.com and easily found street parking just around the corner from the cafe. It was Sunday so we didn't have to feed the meter. Lots of activity around Kailua town so you could easily check out the Sunday market or have brunch before your visit to the cafe. The owner, Heather, greeted us and was so warm & welcoming. She and her husband have put a lot of love into the cafe and the attention to detail and fun decor provide a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere with lots of cute photo opportunities. All the adoptable kitty cats at the cafe are from the Hawaiian Humane Society and they are so sweet and cuddly. There is a free Pac man game to play, lots of comfortable seating and an all vegan refreshment menu featuring dole whip, mango soft serve and acai bowls. We can't wait to go back! read more

A couple of coworkers and I were trying to have a girls night out after work when we had decided to go to the new cat cafe that opened up in Kailua. Unfortunately, when we went on their website to check on availability, we weren't able to book a spot for a same-day appointment. But since we weren't to be deterred, we waited for them to open to check if there were any spaces. It just so happened that Heather, one of the owners, had picked up the phone, and similarly to their online appointments system, Heather relayed the news that they were booked for the day. I internally cried thinking about all the cats and kittens I could've been cuddling with, but understood considering COVID-19 restrictions and the popularity of a cat cafe. However, Heather and I continued talking over the phone and she was gracious enough to let us come after work even though it was considered after hours for the day. If you're unfamiliar with where the Aloha Kitty Cafe is located, it's right next to Assagio's in Kailua Town (Uluniu St.) as well as The Cat's Meow Inn (another business owned by Heather and her husband). It's actually a perfect location as you can visit Aloha Kitty Cafe and then venture out to get a bite to eat at any of the nearby eateries (i.e. Uahi Island Grill, Ganesh Dosa, etc.). When we arrived, Heather's husband let us into the Aloha Kitty Cafe and directed us to sanitize our hands right by the door. He then had us fill out waiver forms as Heather was finishing up a successful adoption with another visitor. Heather was quick to welcome us into the cafe and explain the process of the cafe as well as the interior design (the multitude of cat inspired artwork and decor is phenomenal and you'll have to see if for yourself to believe it). We then paid our admission fee ($15 per person for an hour of playtime) and then were directed to the play rooms. There were three different themed play rooms located in the cafe: 1) Main Room: Aloha/Tiki inspired, 2) Maneki Neko/Pac-Man Arcade, and 3) Another Aloha/Tiki inspired room connected to the Maneki Neko/Pac-Man room. Most of our kitty friends were in the first room of the cafe most likely due to the close proximity to the entrance of the rooms as well as the visitors. As I've never been to a cat cafe before, I didn't know what to expect (other than cats) but what I really appreciate about Heather and her husband is that they truly put a lot of love and care into this cafe. Not only did they create beautiful, comfortable spaces for both humans and felines alike, but they also managed to truly curate each visitor's experience, so that bonds could be made for those looking to adopt. My group and I all had a wonderful time with kitten therapy and Heather and her husband would join the visitors on occasion to talk about the cats (such as sweet chonky boy Bandit). Heather's husband at one point even moved his seat so Bandit could have it as Bandit had been hovering on the headrest. It's these little things that make you realize just how lucky these cats are to be in such good hands and that it's only a matter of time until they find their furever homes. Overall, if you're looking for a fun activity that also gives back to the community, I would highly recommend the Aloha Kitty Cafe. Heather and her husband are a hardworking and dedicated team that has created a unique experience for the public and those looking to adopt a feline. Not only is the experience affordable, but totally social media worthy, and they also have cafe options such as lattes, soft serve, and açaí bowls available for purchase during your visit. We drove by this place and gave them a call to see if we can come by on a whim. The owner was so accommodating and kind - thank you Heather! $15 an hour and all proceeds go to taking care of and adopting out the rescues this is the best cat cafe. When we entered we did not expect to find beautifully decorated rooms full of friendly and playful rescue KITTENS!!! I thought I died and went to heaven. At one point I had 4 tiny kittens snuggle up and fall asleep on me, and after an hour and a half I felt so serene and relaxed, it was as if I just had a full body massage. This place is truly a labor of love and is good for the soul. We had family with us and it was the highlight of their trip. Best thing to do on island whether you're local or visiting. Lots of room for the cats, plentiful toys for them, and lots of cool cat furniture too. The decor of this place is definitely one of my favorite parts! I visited the website and it said to call to make appointments to have a date with the kitties, I called and wasn't able to connect. I then played phone tag with one of the staff there and she was so amazing and kind! She even texted me to reach out and made sure I was taken care of! She even offered to reach out if anyone cancelled their appointment so I could come! Overall, this business is great because of what they're doing for the community and all of the cute furry friends. I've been to about 10 other cat cafes around the US and Aloha Kitty Cafe BY FAR blows everyone out of the water! The kitties come from the Humane Society and are super fun and energetic to play with! The Owners are very PURRsonable and you can tell they love what they do. I visited here from California and loved it so much I am looking to come visit a second time while we stay a week on Oahu. I have been to quite a few cat cafes and this one was my absolute favorite! We scheduled a private visit to the cafe a couple of weeks ago, and I am still telling people to go there even if they are not ready to adopt a cat. I loved the decor, the snacks, but mostly the cats. All the cats there were 3months old to ~1year old, and they were all super friendly. I barely got past the front door and I was already covered in purring cats who wanted all the attention - literally, my dream! I wanted to take all of them home with me but I think the two cats I already have would object. It's my understanding that all of the cats and kittens here are from the Humane Society and are available for adoption. Married couple privately owned, they are very friendly and attentive. Currently by appointment only, with an hour cap. Although nobody is kicking you out right when the clock is up. All felines are adoptable and so adorable! It took everything in me to not take one home! Because they are kittens they are very energetic and playful, so it's a fun time! If you have small children I suggest you educate them on how to properly handle animals, it's not fun seeing kids that aren't mine be so aggressive and can't do much about it. The cafe is actually decorated pretty neat and has a few rooms, so you're able to get away from people and have a more personal experience. I suggest getting the dole whip! Yum! Açaí bowl was good too! Comment to the owners: it would probably be a good idea to have customers remove shoes before going into kitty room, so you're not tracking anything in. There are three rooms with really fun decorations and tons of kittens from the humane society. The rooms are really nicely done and make for a great environment to interact with the kitties. Even my partner, who isn't really a cat person, loved it and had a great time. We reserved a time slot online for 1:30-2:30 and the cats were all very energetic and excited to play. $15 each and an hour well spent- we will definitely be back when we're in town!
