Want melty cheese? Having a Meltdown is the place to go! Most of their menu is grilled cheese, but they also have quesadillas and mac n' cheese. I've been a couple times and if you hit them up off peak hours, food can be ready in 10 minutes. Otherwise, be ready to wait with all the other folks here to get their cheese on. Every sandwich I've ever gotten here was OOZING with cheese. They don't skimp, which I love (my wife finds it overkill, but to each their own). The Four Cheese Melt is a cheese-lover's best grilled cheese. The Philly Cheese is solid. On our last visit, we went with spicy grilled cheeses: -Kick in the Can - this take on a jalapeño popper was delicious. They did not skimp on the pickled jalapeños either! Nice and spicy and also included bacon, cream cheese, and cheddar. -Slap in the Mouth - this Buffalo chicken sandwich was nice with plenty of buffalo sauce, chicken, blue cheese, and mozzarella. My only complaint is that they chicken was in huge chunks rather than diced up, so some bites were a little more chicken-forward than well-balanced. But if that's my only complaint, this is a solid sandwich indeed. The mac n' cheese was solid, with a nice bit of garlic to it. Child #1 got the Oodles of Noodles grilled cheese, which had this grilled cheese in it. A delightfully cheesy bundle of carbs! Waffle fries were solid accompaniment, would get again. We tried the reuben, the mother clucker (chicken parm) sandwich and waffle fries. The fries were nice and crispy. The reuben was out of this world! We absolutely loved it. The mother clucker wasn't my favorite but there is plenty more to try on the menu. I'd recommend giving this place a shot! read more

Just like I read here - it was the most delicious reuben ever! The lemonade was huge but not very lemony. Only giving it 4 stars because it was incredibly expensive. All sandwiches were $15, which is reasonable in a restaurant but a tad high for a food truck. But food trucks seem to be the thing here to cope with the off-season slump. read more

When coming to Chincoteague during the off season, your not sure what may be open. To our surprise Having A Meltdown was on the first Sunday of March. We decided on the Meltdown, the Don't Pesto Me and the special of the day which was a cold sandwich of chicken salad, lettuce and cranberry sauce. We added to that an order of waffle fries and a lemonade. This is our feedback: The Meltdown - is a perfectly grilled, four cheese melt. It was gory and delicious and stacked high with cheesy goodness. The Don't Pesto Me - was a very good sandwich with lots of flavor. It is a bit messy since the pesto (olive oil) easily bled through the bread. Th Chicken Salad was very good and should be considered a regular menu item. The waffle fries were perfectly seasoned and cooked the way we like them, extra crispy on the outside and soft inside. So good! The lemonade was outstanding and was served in a quart container. All in all, Meltdown is a great addition to the ever increasing food truck culture in Chincoteague. read more

I stopped by today on a whim and I'm so glad I did. I had the Rancher and the chicken quesadilla. The food was fresh and delicious. They loaded the quesadilla with chicken and served it with salsa and sour cream. If you like melted cheese you need to try this place! read more

The hours tend to vary depending on the season, so be sure to check their Facebook page because the owner is always on top of it, so I'm not going to take away a star. That being said, you won't find a better sandwich on the island, and their reuben is probably THE best reuben I've had in my 43 years on this Earth. We like Having a Meltdown quite a bit. Portions are very generous. Their Reuben is fantastic. I like the quesadillas as well. The food is a bit messy, so don't try to eat it in your car (our neighbors did that and it was a minor disaster :-) ). They take call in orders too. Good for them. Wow! Having a food coma! Had Ruben Savage and a Slap in the face. First let me say, best sandwich around. Buffalo chicken had to be a whole breast on there. Ruben is real cornbeef(not lunch meat) and piled on. Sauces were on point. The cheese was gooey and delicious. First trip here and will not be my last. Ordered 3 sandwiches only took about 10 mins. This is in my top three places to grab lunch on the island. Get the specialty lemonades they're always delicious. Like today was strawberry lemonade, it had pieces of strawberry in and it's so delicious! They're super kind about altering things as long as it's not too insane and crazy. Was very disappointed with our lunch today. Flank steak was more gristle than steak and was very bland even tho it was supposed to have onion and peppers. Nothing like a Philly steak at all. Sliced Bread was very soggy and obviously could not handle the cheese that overwhelmed the entire sandwich. The portions are unbelievable! Sandwiches are $10 - we had the Reuben and the Philly. We should have ordered one to share. There was so much delicious tender meat on both sandwiches. Maybe better luck on a different day. We got there around 3pm on a Thursday and they were out of chicken breast and steak, no big deal. We ordered chicken tenders, waffle fries, the Honey I'm Ham sandwich and 2 lemonades. The tenders were your run of the mill frozen tenders. the ham sandwich was too messy to eat and the ham was meh (IMO a thinner slice on the ham would make a difference). There was so much honey mustard my bread was soggy before I even got a chance to eat it and we ate right at their picnic table & all i could taste was honey mustard. The fries & lemonade were fantastic- everything was made to order (no old FF) & the 2 ladies running it were super nice.
