Dozen donuts
Eli J.

Tried a dozen donuts here. You order and pick up at window. Line doesn't move super quick, assuming they top at least some of the donuts made to order. They are very heavy cake type donuts, almost a little too greasy for me but that's just my preference. Everyone in my family was definitely not eating more than two of these being as heavy as they are. The toppings/flavors are creative and pretty good. I probably wouldn't go back if I was looking for donuts again, but if that's the type of donut you're looking for give it a shot.

SO GOOD! got a half dozen with strawberry glazed blueberry glazed two porkys a cinnamon one and a chocolate chip donut they were all amazing! and service was quick!

surfer dude donut, acai bowl, iced coffee

Yummy specialty doughnuts fried fresh to order. They are reminiscent of another chain, which we'll call the Shattered Dried Plum, and if we're comparing them, I think Sandy Pony doesn't quite measure up. My favorites were the Porky Pony and Cow Tail (hello, childhood candy favorite!). There are lots of fruity glazed flavors. It can get a little rich with the freshly fried doughnut and glazes that often melt into it. They also have coffee and açaí bowls; maybe we'll try those next time. Because they are fried to order, a long line can form, but they move as fast as humanly possible. Pro-tip: Like a few other places on the island, they have a cheaper price if you pay in cash rather than card. In this economy? Savings, please!

Delicious warm freshly glazed donuts and coffee! Many donut flavors to choose from but I'm a purist and prefer the straight forward cinnamon sugar glazed. They only offer take out via the exterior window. Can't go wrong with Sandy Pony Donuts

Some of the best donuts I have ever had! Great price! Made fresh to order! Soft and gooey! Great flavors! I could easily eat 6 because of the bite size, but it's perfect to try more flavors in an order. They have various locations, so I will be trying the one in Annapolis soon.

Yummy!

Amazing cake donuts made to order! A must try! This is not a "tourist inflated" review haha. We have a similar place here in Philly, but Sandy Pony Donuts are superior! Another reason to love Chincoteauge Island! Open April-October. I hear that their last weekend this year will be October 12-13. I'll be there for Oyster Fest...lucky me !!!

These are great doughnuts! Cake doughnuts can be heavy and chewy, but these were surprisingly light and fluffy. Tons of flavors and toppings to choose from, so there is something for everyone. We got a dozen variety and have enjoyed them all! Love that they have a brick and mortar walk-up location in Chincoteague. I was expecting a wait once we ordered but we waited less than 5 minutes. Parking is in the back, and then take the wheelchair ramp to the front. Clearly labeled order and pick up windows make it an easy process to figure out. If you want them for breakfast though, get there early because we have driven by on many mornings and have seen a line!

A great breakfast treat!

Sandy Pony Donuts has grown up to a full fledged storefront on Maddox Blvd. Same great donuts and Açaí bowls but a quicker turn around on the orders with their bigger, permanent digs. They are open 7-2 pm so come early to beat the line. If you sleep in, know that it's worth the line wait.

Bottom Line: Fresh, warm cake donuts topped to suit any taste buds served out of a food truck. I'm not a huge donut fan but every now and again I'll try one to see if it suits me. I found my taste for Sandy Pony Donuts in Annapolis and I was excited to try the OG on my inaugural visit to Chincoteague. The concept at Sandy Pony Donuts is that they take a fresh cake donut and then top it with glaze and sprinkles to order. It took a little bit of time for me to study the menu but I landed on a chocolate glaze and chocolate sprinkles. I can't recall the name of that combination but all the donut names are fun. I also got coffee to wash it down. My husband and I enjoyed our donut snack al fresco in the parking lot where the Yep, I would bet on these ponies!

Very good donuts, definitely made it in my top 5 donut places of all time!!! The sandy pony and chocolate glaze donut were very yummy! They do have long lines in the summer but they move fast and are worth it.

This was our first time visiting Sandy Pony Donuts, and the hype is true. These donuts are amazing! Even though we had a significant wait to get them, they were hot and very worth the wait. We ordered a variety, but we agreed that the Dirty Banana was the best of the dozen. We visited Sandy Pony on a Thursday, but I'm guessing the weekends are much busier so plan to wait awhile. It also seems that they have limited staff due to social distancing rules, so be patient.

Cute place. The service was good/friendly but that was the only positive. I got the acai bowl with strawberries, blueberries, and peanut butter drizzle. I thought it'd be "made to order" as advertised as in freshly blended and created but its not. Its essentially a frozen scoop of acai sorbet and then fresh ingredients are put on top. I had to wait for it to thaw to start eating because the spoon was about to break trying to dig into it. The acai itself tasted like what you get in the frozen section of a grocery store. As it thawed it got more and more sickly sweet, sticky, and syrupy. I ate enough to finish the toppings and then threw it away. Not at all what I expected and can't really call it freshly made. I also got the pony party donut. It came warm (which I didn't realize) but the glaze was just a melty mess all over. It basically turned into a soggy moist donut. I took two bites and threw that away as well because it wasn't worth the calories and couldn't get over the "wet bread" texture. Overall a disappointment compared to other acai bowls and donuts I've had and I wouldn't try them again but it was worth a shot.

Donuts are fantastic. Cow tails taste like funnel cake. Pretzels are my favorite. Better than duck donuts.

Want melty cheese? Having a Meltdown is the place to go!…read more Most of their menu is grilled cheese, but they also have quesadillas and mac n' cheese. I've been a couple times and if you hit them up off peak hours, food can be ready in 10 minutes. Otherwise, be ready to wait with all the other folks here to get their cheese on. Every sandwich I've ever gotten here was OOZING with cheese. They don't skimp, which I love (my wife finds it overkill, but to each their own). The Four Cheese Melt is a cheese-lover's best grilled cheese. The Philly Cheese is solid. On our last visit, we went with spicy grilled cheeses: -Kick in the Can - this take on a jalapeño popper was delicious. They did not skimp on the pickled jalapeños either! Nice and spicy and also included bacon, cream cheese, and cheddar. -Slap in the Mouth - this Buffalo chicken sandwich was nice with plenty of buffalo sauce, chicken, blue cheese, and mozzarella. My only complaint is that they chicken was in huge chunks rather than diced up, so some bites were a little more chicken-forward than well-balanced. But if that's my only complaint, this is a solid sandwich indeed. The mac n' cheese was solid, with a nice bit of garlic to it. Child #1 got the Oodles of Noodles grilled cheese, which had this grilled cheese in it. A delightfully cheesy bundle of carbs! Waffle fries were solid accompaniment, would get again. Overall great place for celebrating melty cheese; you won't be disappointed!

We tried the reuben, the mother clucker (chicken parm) sandwich and waffle fries. The fries were…read morenice and crispy. The reuben was out of this world! We absolutely loved it. The mother clucker wasn't my favorite but there is plenty more to try on the menu. I'd recommend giving this place a shot!
