First timer. Still learning the Gluten free lifestyle. Because of that I really wanted to check out Haven on Earth since they claim to be a dedicated GF restaurant. When I walked in I was greeted and took a minute to check out the selection in their glass cases. They seemed to have a vast selection. Donuts, scones, cupcakes, cookies, breads and etc. They also have a deli. I decided to get their frozen GF Mac and cheese and an assortment of donuts, scones and cupcakes. I wanted to try everything! When I got home I tried a (tiny bite) of a chocolate cupcake, vanilla cupcake, red velvet cupcake and a few bites of different types of donuts. Honestly, very impressed. I will be back!!! read more

I thought the bakery items were nothing but sugar, shortening and flour. The morning cakes I got were wet from being frozen and had absolutely no flavor. The chocolate frosting didn't have real chocolate in it. I gave 2 stars because the girl at the counter was very nice. read more

We ordered a bunch of Pies for Thanksgiving and they were so amazing! They also have fresh bread, pastries and a Deli! Have been here only once as I was dropping off some items to the goodwill next door. I had an ok experience. I selected to get the avocado peperjack melt ($8.95, includes a side), and when asked to add meat, I said sure, well this brought the price to $12. while the sandwich was good (and the Parmesan foccaia bread really good) , I am not sure that I would order it again because of the price. The service was slow, and somewhat unorganized. one poor guy waited 10 minutes for his cinnamon roll (that only needed to be pulled out of the display case). read more

Atmosphere - The dining area is tiny maybe 6 tables most setup for two people. A shelf of grocery store gluten goods is in one corner. Most of the place is the bakery. Food Drinks - No, not even water which was a mistake. Main Course - I ordered the roast beef sandwich on the sun dried tomato bread. The beef was the best part of the sandwich, stacked thick. The bread was dry, very dry and crumbly. I do not remember the bread being so dry last time. My second half of the sandwich most of the bread was in the basket when I finished. The mustard was yellow, I would have preferred a Dijon or whole seed mustard instead with my roast beef. Service - I get that there is one person working behind the counter and we need to wait for the order in front of us to be finished. But when you are making our lunch do not stop and take another order if you did not do that for us. There was no up sale when we placed our sandwich order. If you have read any of my reviews, you've probably figured out by now that my wife has a gluten allergy. So after the many years of coming here I am finally going to write a review. They make amazing cakes. My wife was able to have an actual birthday cake on her birthday each year without worrying about getting sick. They have bread, bagels, muffins, cupcakes, donuts, lasagna, mac and cheese, and quiches. All gluten-free!!! They offer a huge variety of sandwiches that you can eat there or take to go. Even I enjoy to go there for lunch because the bread they use is delicious. You would never know the food here was all gluten-free if there wasn't a giant sign outside that told you so! read more

I have driven by Haven on Earth countless times so I finally went in to check it out. Haven on Earth has a cute cafe space and they offer a lot of home made breads, pastries, and fresh sandwiches. I ordered a turkey pesto sandwich on frocaccia bread. The smells were heavenly, the service was friendly, the sandwich came with a complimentary cookie, and that's about where the good experience stopped. The sandwich I got ran around $7. At that price point, I'm comfortable in expecting a pretty good sandwich. The bread had a weird soggy and crumbly texture. I didn't care for the flavor of the meat. And (this has never happened to me before) but I thought that the sandwich was actually so bad that I couldn't finish it. Yikes! I would have been much happier skipping lunch that day. I kept thinking to myself, maybe it is just the sandwich. I'm sure their homemade breads and pastries are just fine! I am absolutely thrilled to have finally stopped in to this fantastic business! I ordered a chicken pesto sandwich on a sun-dried tomato focaccia roll and was beyond impressed. The pesto sauce rocked (and was applied to both slices of the bread!), it had fresh lettuce and tomato, and a thick slice of gooey cheese. It came with a small cookie, but my sweet tooth got the best of me and I decided to purchase a 50% off (day old) red velvet cupcake. Yum! In addition to their menu, the bakery cases are filled with all types of gluten-free goodies such as quiches, pastries and muffins, there is a rack full of various fresh breads and rolls, and another rack offers gluten-free snacks to round out your lunch purchase. When I drove by last time I caught a glimpse of the storefront and noticed "sandwiches", so thought I would give it a try ! First of all, everything is gluten free. This does not interfere with flavor at all! There is a nice variety of salads, sandwiches and quiches available in addition to the bakery. Placed an order for 24 cupcakes for my daughters birthday . She has a dairy and egg allergy so I've been looking for a bakery that can accommodate. This bakery focuses on being gluten free, which is great for anyone with an allergy. BUT, 24 cupcakes quoted at 110 dollars !? Absolutely ridiculous! By this point I'm already familiar with how to bake my own vegan cakes. Bought the stuff myself and decided to make my own. Less than 10 dollars . Watch some YouTube and there you have it, beautiful frosting . They also charged to add a change of color to each cupcake . I Understand people need to charge their worth, but excuse me!? To be fair, I didn't actually try anything. I went in to get a quick iced coffee one afternoon. I walked up to the register and was told that she couldn't help me because she was the bakery side of the house. I was a little confused, but when I questioned how to order just a coffee drink, I was told to stand about 4 steps to the right of the register. I waited and waited for someone to at least acknowledge I was there, but no one ever did. I noticed that no one working there looked very happy. It was a strange experience and I ended up leaving. I have gone to Haven on Earth for a few years now. (I had to go gluten free in October 2012.) They have a lot to offer that is gluten free and many things that I was pleasantly surprised to find available when I first went gluten free. It changed ownership/management probably about two years ago. The quality and service definitely dropped significantly for awhile, but it is much better these days (but still not like in "the old days" with the original owner). She was a tough act to beat, that's for sure. Some of the items I recommend are: lemon bars, pie crust, cinnamon buns, eclairs, waffles, pizza crust, mini bundt cakes (the plain chocolate ones), tomato bisque soup, and some of their lunch specials. Note: You will need to order your dinner rolls several days in advance around special holidays and you definitely need to prepay (can be done over the phone). I missed out once, because when I ordered mine they didn't tell me or ask me to pay and then I was told when I arrived to pick them up. I also missed out last year for Christmas, because I didn't call an additional day earlier than the last time. I would definitely call well over a week in advance to see when the cutoff day/time is and then probably order a day before that. read more

Yikes...had high hopes and was severely disappointed. Bread pudding tasted like sweetened omelletes with pieces of dry bread. Red velvet cupcakes was so dense and although the flavor was ok the texture was not. As someone who has Celiac's and has tried many dedicated gluten free bakeries this has hands down been the worst I've visited. This place is insanely good. I was passing through Reno on a work trip and drove like 15 minutes each way out of my way to go here, and it was 100% worth it. I bought a strawberry donut and also a vanilla cupcake ("for later") and had stuffed both in my mouth by the time I got back home to the Bay Area. The frosting on the cupcake, despite being dairy and gluten free, was soft and delicious (many gluten free places have hard nasty frosting, I don't understand why! I'm looking at you, Mariposa Baking Company). The strawberry donut was delightful AND had star shaped sprinkles on it. The lady who was behind the counter said they're hoping to expand into Midtown- I hope they do! But in the meanwhile holy heck it's worth the drive! I was excited to hear that we had a gluten free bakery, but upon visiting the young lady at the counter was EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional! When I asked prices, inquired about items, etc she acted like she was put off by answering. When it was time to pay, they couldn't even break a 20.00 bill and item AREN'T cheap! ‍. Cookies were 4.50 EACH and when I asked about purchasing the rude girl quickly asked "aren't they for an order?" but they allowed me to buy one. The cupcakes were almost 4.00 each and were extremely dry, and cakes run 65.00 up. As the old saying goes, "You don't get a second chance to make a first impression". ON A POSITIVE NOTE, we were blessed to come when the bagels and sourdough bread was still warm . That was wonderful , but be aware that because it's made fresh it doesn't last as long. Was excited to try this bakery so, using a Groupon, drove a long way from where I live. Finally found it and anticipated coming away after lunch there with some yummy goodies to go. Somehow to me it seemed they have missed the boat overall. The shop did not come across as charming and that was what I was hoping for. The display of baked goods was less than appealing and I saw a chocholate toppped cream puff that looked sadder than anything I could have made....and this is a bakery!. My hubby and I ordered a sandwich each, this came with choice of salad, potato salad and I think slaw. My hubby had corned beef on rye with potato salad, I ordered their vegetarian sandwich with salad on the side. Orders arrived and we were underwhelmed....my hubby said his sandwich tasted better than it looked but not by a lot. My sandwich looked great as did the salad but wasn't as good as it looked! I did not like the fact that there was no real description of the food you had ordered...the corned beef looked like a panini and a very small panini at that. My sandich was prepared as I ordered, no mayo, but still disappointing. It was served on focaccia and that was a surprise but a bit heavy for that sandwich. Eating with plastic utensils, though a good economic move for them, takes away from the experience. Is it really worth it?? The two sodas we ordered were served in a to go cup with lid and they a very small sized drink for $1.75 each. I wish I had chosen coffee as they had a nice coffee station that I noticed after the fact. Still really wanting to be delighted, I perused their bakery case as did my hubby but we both came away thinking there was nothing there that we wanted to take home. I did select a cinnamon roll for $2.25 to take with us and glad we only got one, it was heavy and seemed "clumsy" ...if a cinnamon roll can be that! Ordered a 10 inch double layer gf chocolate cake with raspberry filling and cream cheese frosting. The whole order cost $90. There was absolutely no raspberry filling, the cream cheese frosting tasted like buttercream and the chocolate cake was super dry and bitter. Had a cake ordered for my birthday and it was unfortunately one of the worst cakes I have ever had. The cake itself was dry and very tough and dense (not in a good way) - it was even difficult to cut. The exterior of the cake was so dry it was practically crunchy and inedible. The frosting and cake itself (red velvet with vanilla buttercream) were fairly bland as well. Considering how expensive this was I am very disappointed and would not recommend this place especially for a special occasion. Traveled a considerable distance to visit here because of a Groupon. The place was in an itty bitty strip mall and was much smaller than I was expecting. It's very clean and rather quiet. The owners are very quiet; nice enough, but it does seem as if they don't have much experience dealing with the public. The place is very plain at the moment, doesn't have much personality yet but I'm sure that will develop over time. I was impressed that everything on their lunch menu was just $6.95, that's a pretty good deal for a fresh made sandwich, small pizza or a hot entree with soup or salad. EDIT: Their website now says lunch prices have increased to $7.25 - still a pretty fair price. My lunch companion and I had a nice little lunch - he had the Lasagna, I had the Ham & Bacon Strata. While not exceptional, both were generous portions and tasted very nice. I liked that the salad was very fresh and made with good greens, and the Raspberry Vinaigrette dressing was delicious. The soup was very good too, tasted house made. For a Bread & Bakery, I didn't see much being offered in the glass cases, just a few cookies and a smattering of baked items. I think I was expecting something much larger and more polished. Again, I'm sure that will develop over time. Glad I came by once, but for me personally there's nothing here to inspire a long drive back. If you worked nearby, however, I bet this would be a fun place to stop off once or twice a week for a good, healthy, inexpensive lunch. read more

It's great to have a gluten free restaurant in Reno! My husband ordered a quiche and I had chicken pot pie with a side salad. We ordered 2 12 oz. coffees and 1 generous piece of raspberry coffee cake to share. Both pies were small, at about 4.5" across. His quiche was okay but not worth $10. My pot pie contained no gravy at all but otherwise tasted ok. The GF pie crust was tough. At Target, you can get a frozen GF chicken pot pie for $4.39, it has lots of gravy but, admittedly, the crust isn't much better. It was not worth $11. The side salad contained iceberg lettuce (yuk!), tomatoes, cucumber and lots of delicious GF croutons. My choice of Asian dressing was fine. The coffee tasted wonderful but neither coffee was served hot enough. They were out of half and half. The raspberry coffee cake was perfect. We didn't waste our $40 for lunch, but also weren't thrilled. For our next outing, we will return to Great Full Gardens, where the food quality is very good and there are plenty of GF options. Haven On Earth needs to pay more attention to the details! read more

I have recently joined the gluten free crowd and not by just choice. When I found out no more donuts, cupcakes, pizza and lasagna I was pretty bummed. I had someone else take me to Haven on earth and my disappointment in my new diet went away. I ate the best red velvet cupcake I have ever had! I go there for lunch or something weekly. They have the day old stuff in their freezer for a reduced rate which is GREAT. I stock up on bread and just keep it frozen. I bring home lasagna and pizza on nights my husband who can eat anything wants that stuff so we can both enjoy. I hosted a party and and all the desserts came from here. Everyone loved the treats. They had no idea they were gluten free. For those complaining about the price have you tried finding gluten free baking ingredients cheap? I sure haven't. So yes I expect their cupcakes to be a bit more than the local grocery store. But it is worth it to be able to enjoy a tasty treat and not be sick after. We drove up from Auburn and didn't realize the hours online are wrong. When we arrived at 4:00 pm on the dot the doors were locked. We literally drive 2 hours and I promised my 5 year old daughter we were going to a place where she could eat ANYTHING she wanted! I ended up calling and Alex at first said no bc the drawer was closed, but then said okay. WE WERE SO HAPPY!!!
