Maurice (the shop owner) is downright cranky and rude. I've been a few times, just lounging around for a quick smoke and you'll actively hear him talk trash about customers or complain towards just about anyone walking through. In addition, if he doesn't like you for whatever reason he'll actively demean and belittle you around the regulars or ask you to sit outside. I've personally seen this multiple times. And the regulars. Never have I ever met a more exclusive and ostracizing crowd of never-been "comedians" and "actors" with more opinions than braincells to back them. The TV is always on and blaring, the couple of regulars constantly glued to their same spots (the cartoon sitcom looking, goateed gentleman you'll first see upon entering; along with the grumpy faced alt-right espousing "motorcycle enthusiast" as far opposite him); perpetually screaming back and forth. All inside jokes and off-the-cuff "witicisms" that were overcooked the moment the neurons fired. Couple that with the minstrel-esque fellow hopping up and down in his chair for the attention daddy never gave him, screaming out criticisms or waxing poetic about Israel while blasting gas all over the closet-sized shop. Parking is impossible to find. The selection sucks. The cigars are badly managed. And it's overpriced to boot. Outside of the motley band of rejects and losers that seem to perpetually dot the place, I couldn't imagine a single person *actively* choosing to spend their leisure time here. read more

Havana Cigars has GREAT customer service and the owner was very NICE!!!!!!!!! I had recently bought 3 cigars (for a total cost of $68) and went across the parking lot to Trader Joe to buy some wine and head to my friends house. While at Trader Joe I dropped the plastic bag that contained my cigars and for some reason they fell perfectly on the crown and all 3 cigars cracked. I went back to Havana Cigar and explained the story and the owner (sorry i forgot your name) said it's ok i'll incur the cost go ahead and grab another 3 cigars in the house. Awesome cigar shop in Studio City. A friend of mine recommended this place because I needed to pick up a real life prop for my Halloween costume and I wanted to be able to smoke it after wards. We stepped into Havana Cigars a little after 8P to a full house, the lounge was full (of course this may be due to the final game of the World Series) but Maurice the owner got right up to assist us with picking out some semi flashy new to cigar smoking cigars. We opted for two mild Ashtons ($14 each). He cut them for us before we left and we were on our way. Looking forward to trying this for the first time and while I normally don't smoke - today as Bonnie Parker I will smoke this with Clyde! There were limited editions and seasonal available at a great price, some were even cheaper in store than online even with CA's insane tobacco tax. Visiting for the weekend and found this gem of a place online. The owner is super friendly and helpful. Great selection of cigars and, this is the best part, there is a smoking lounge inside. You can also smoke outside in front of the store. There's a few chairs outside and a small table. Inside, there are about a dozen loungers and a big screen TV with football and another with throwball (american football) depending on the crowd. The regulars were friendly and welcoming and didn't give off any attitude. That's key in my book. The shop is in the corner tucked back by a Pinkberry, on the right hand side of the parking lot as you face Trader Joe's. FYI- parking can be tight. Definitely worth a visit, and stay awhile if you can! read more

They've got a great selection for any budget and you can come in here like a fish out of cig water and they will show you the way and not make you feel dumb. I know there are very few cigar shops around the LA area (hooka and pipe shops that have "cigar" signs don't count) that the few that we have would be great to fantastic, but this one I felt like I was lacking somewhere. I went in after work and heading to Trader Joe's and figured this looks like a nice place. With all of the regular names in cigars the prices are what I would see in NY or a better part of Beverly Hills. This isn't a review to totally badmouth this location because the design of the shop is very nice and the smells and the overall feel of the shop is great. Just the price for the smokes was high average there as 12/14 per stick maybe on what I wouldn't see elsewhere for 9/10. The staff was nice and helpful, but I left empty handed. Since then I've found other shops that share the affinity to have high prices, forcing me to purchase some smokes there and buying in bulk online. Sad but true. I don't want anyone to take the 3 star rating as an offense to this place. The shop is quaint, well laid out, and has a fair selection of cigars. The reason it won't get a higher rating is for a few reasons. First, finding a place to park is tough. On weekends, it's really tough. The parking lot is a good size, but is shared with Trader Joes, a couple restaurants and some smaller shops. So between 15 businesses, the 2 acres of parking fills up quickly. I have literally trolled the lot for 5-10 minutes just waiting for someone to pull out. Second, the cigars are over priced. Now, I don't know what kind of traffic this place gets everyday, but if they're doing good business, they ought to drop the prices a bit. Right now, sticks are anywhere from $1-$4 higher than most other places in the area. Even exclusive places like Grand Havana Room (which is members only) sells sticks at lower prices on many brands than this place. Third, if you are looking to meet up with a few guys to relax, you had better hope no one else is there when you are. There are only a few chairs/couches, so if you have a party of 3-4 and there are already 2-4 people inside, you will be hard pressed on space. Is this a bad place, no. Could it be better, yes. Is it worth going to if you just want to get away for a little while, I would say so. read more

Needless to say the humidor is well stocked with a variety of great smokes and Maurice the tobacconist is a professional. Tell him what kind of smoke you want and he will instinctively know where to guide you in your taste and price point. In response to the comment on price, OMG, the prices are reasonable, one needs to understand that the taxes on tobacco vary from state to state. Okay selection, people seemed friendly, the staff don't bother you in the humidor. But Jesus, don't let the guy behind the counter cut the cigar for you. Dude shredded an $18.00 VSG Eclipse by cutting way too much off the end (causing the wrapper to break apart around the entire bottom part of the cigar). People who don't know how to cut cigars should not offer to cut them, esp. people working behind the counters at cigar stores. I have to admit this store has an excellent selection. The first time I came in last year, i ended up spending about $90. So I came back today and the guy behind the counter couldn't have been more of a rude, aggressive, angry, obnoxious A-hole. Apparently there is a limit on the amount of time you can spend looking around, even though I was going to buy. They have a huge selection and cigars are literally stacked from the floor to the ceiling, so I was taking my time looking around and selecting. One tends to take their time when there's a huge selection to choose from. This set him off and he stormed into the walk in humidor and told me I'd been in there for 23 minutes and asked me how much more time I needed. He told me I had been squatting (keep in mind cigars boxes are stacked on the floor), then standing up and squatting again. I explained he had a good selection and I was just looking at the different brands. Then he basically accused me of stealing, because I had 3 cigars in my hand and put one back. He told me I had four cigars in my hand and asked where the others were. He wasn't satisfied with my explanation that I had put the others back and I offered to let him search me, since I didn't like the implication that I was a thief. Mind you, I was dressed well and had left my suit jacket in the car. He was mad because I had only picked out two cigars (I wasn't done searching for the right cigars I had planned on giving out as gifts) and had been inside for 15-20 minutes. Long story long, he told me he didn't want my business, because I was taking too long to decide. This is a business, mind you, where they sell things to the public. ive never been to a business where there's a time limit to choose from probably a couple hundred cigars and squatting down to look at the cigars on the floor and then standing up to look at the cigars on the upper shelves is wrong. The lighting was horrible, my vision isn't great and I was having trouble seeing. So yeah, I was taking some time, but didn't realize there was a time limit. Maybe that should be posted. And I've never encountered a business where the "salesman" got mad when you tried to buy their product and then said he didn't want my business. Maybe he was having a bad night, but that's not an excuse to be a rude jerk (I'd prefer to use far stronger words to define this guy, but I won't). I've never experienced anything like this. Anywhere. Sad, because they do have a good selection. Perhaps this guy needs to take some classes on how to treat customers who intend on spending money in their store. And he could also use manners and lessons on exhibiting decency. One star is far too many for this guy, no clue what his problem was. So no, I don't recommend coming in here unless you know exactly what you want and you'd better do it very quickly, because he doesn't appreciate you taking your time before you spend your money in his store. Find somewhere else where they know how to treat customers and can appreciate customers. Just completely baffled by his aggression, anger and rude behavior.
