Great value. The…read moreplace is a hidden gem. At the end of June, 4 of us stayed in a room with 2 queen beds. (Room 5). The room is very large. It had a small table and a kitchenette area. It is nice that the sink is outside of the room with the toilet and shower, so others could get ready. The beds were comfortable. There is a little porch area to sit and visit. The road is not far away, but traffic was not bothersome. We stayed in one of the 2 room cabins the next weekend. (July 4th). The cabins are set back farther on the property. They seem secluded as you can watch the creek and sit on the porch under the big shade trees. The cabin had a kitchen, living room, 2 rooms each with a queen bed. Again the sink is outside the bathroom which I like as it is easier to share with others. There is free kayak use with your stay. What a bonus. Dave took great care of us and answered any questions we had. It was nice to not be stuck in a hotel room where others are walking up and down the hall and slamming doors. It was a treat to be able to enjoy sitting in the porch in the evenings. We would stay here again

Everytime I'm in Traverse City I hear such great things about this restaurant. It has even been…read morevoted the number one in the city, so I knew I couldn't pass up another opportunity to dine here. Interesting enough, this is actually a hotel restaurant! So, I was expecting the food to be slightly overhyped. But, I was definitely wrong. I went with a colleague of mine and we were lucky enough to stop by during their happy hour so, we went all out on the appetizers. We ordered their calamari, the sliders, the beef Korean tacos, and the flat bread. Immediately I was blown away by how fresh the food was. Particularly the Thai calamari. As for the Korean beef tacos- the beef was so tender! The protein on the sliders was tenderloins and those were equally delicious. The flat bread surprised me a bit! Ingredients include hummus, feta cheese, spinach, tomatoes and an additional assortment green veggies. So I was expecting it to be a cold dish but it was actually warm. The bread was exceptionally soft. There was not one mediocre thing that we ordered, everything was delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. The interior isn't much to look at, like I said the restaurant is located inside a hotel. However, with food that tasty who cares about the interior design of a restaurant! If you are ever in traverse city, NOT dinning at the Reflect Bistro will be doing a massive disservice to yourself!

While on our annual mother/daughter trip to the Leelanau Peninsula we found Reflect Bistro on Yelp…read moreand decided to give it a try. What we didn't know was Reflect has been consistently voted the number one restaurant in Traverse City year after year. I usually take that with a grain of salt because there's so many wonderful farm to table restaurants and unique dining experiences in TC. It takes quite a bit to stand out and to make it to the top but Reflect Bistro is worthy of the hype. We were surprised to find out it's located in inside the Cambria hotel. A top rated restaurant in a hotel? Yes absolutely. Skipping lunch we decided to have an early dinner and arrived during Happy Hour. On Happy Hour drinks are 20% off and they have small plates and select appetizers on special. Our bartender/waitress was excellent. She made great suggestions. My mom and I shared the whitefish pate appetizer (on the HH menu) which came with warm fresh seasoned ciabatta bread. We each ordered our main course off the dinner menu. I went with the seafood pot pie. It came highly recommended by both our waitress and the couple sitting next to us. Lobster, scallops, shrimp, vegetables and redskin potatoes in lobster cream sauce all served in a puff pastry shell. To use a baseball colloquialism: they knocked it out of the park! Last but certainly not least the Pappardelle fruit de mur with a creamy clam sauce was another winner. It had lobster, shrimp, and scallops mixed throughout and then was topped with fried calamari. The portions were generous and we each had enough for a doggy bag. Reflect Bistro is definitely a place we will be revisiting on our next trip!

"Of Coal, Rain, and Quiche: A Ludington Tale" We arrived in…read moreLudington not by car, not by plane, but by coal-fired steamship, like true 19th-century tycoons. The mighty S.S. Badger chugged us across the the Mishigami in a puff of glory and airborne soot, leaving us feeling like industrial-age aristocrats -- if aristocrats wore raincoats from Target and clutched their luggage like damp raccoons. As we disembarked, the skies opened with the enthusiasm of a Shakespearean tragedy. Ludington greeted us with what meteorologists refer to as "a gentle mist" and what the rest of us call "a relentless downpour." Naturally, we had to walk. Uphill. In the rain. To The Lamplighter Bed and Breakfast, which at that point may as well have been the mythical city of El Dorado. Upon arrival -- soggy, windblown, and questioning all life choices -- we were met by Dan and Jen, the B&B hosts who are either actual angels or have taken an advanced course in hospitality sorcery. They didn't flinch at our drowned-rat appearance. Instead, they welcomed us like old friends returning from sea. We half expected a butler to emerge. Our room? A cozy, clean, charming haven complete with a fireplace. We stared at it for twenty minutes like cavemen discovering fire for the first time. It was warm. It crackled. It whispered, "Go get cocoa downstairs." In the morning came breakfast. Let me just say: if Dan and Jen ever start a brunch religion, we're converting. The food was spectacular -- fresh, flavorful, and clearly prepared by someone who has stared into the soul of an egg and understood its purpose. One bite of their homemade goodness and I briefly blacked out from joy. Dan and Jen do not merely run a bed and breakfast. They curate a full journey. You arrive wet and cold. You leave warm, dry, nourished and wondering how much property goes for in Ludington.

I had to leave too early to have breakfast, so Dan and Jen left me an iced scone with peach compote to go . . . what luxury. True hospitality to be found here.

We called to book, and Linda was so helpful and personable. We booked the King Suite (the largest) for $109 a night. We thought that was extremely fair. We got there after dark, retrieved our room key from the box, as directed, and was really pleased with how clean and comfortable the room was. There were very few guests, given the winter season. The office wasn't open either, but it was fine. It was quiet, and someone replaced towels and k-cups each day, and emptied the trash. The kureig, microwave, and fridge were very helpful. Note - the fridge was not tiny, it was about three feet tall. The tv and WiFi worked great, we both had to work from the room at different times, and had no problem on video calls. It was a quick walk to the BP for snacks, drinks, breakfast sandwiches (yum!), very convenient. There are two great restaurants open year round, joes friendly tavern and empire pizza. We would be very happy to stay here again and will recommend it to friends.

I requested a price match through Priceline, but Priceline required the hotel owner to approve it…read more The hotel owner refused, telling me directly that they do not follow Priceline's price-match or best-price-guarantee policies. This raises a serious question: If the hotel does not honor Priceline's policies, why is it listed on Priceline? And why does Priceline allow a hotel that ignores its guarantees to remain on the platform? This feels like a failure on both sides and is very misleading to consumers.
