The Hotel Indigo in Traverse City in my opinion is a solid 3 out of 5. I just returned from a…read moreweekend stay and thought the overall property was well maintained, lobby was clean, room and hallways were clean. I have no complaints. If you are looking for a decent place where you will be comfortable, is close to local attractions, but not needing a lot of frills, this should meet your need. I think however this hotel benefits from not having much competition in the area for a modern hotel with luxury amenities. On the positive side, the best aspects are that the location is in walking distance to everywhere you would want to go for downtown bars and restaurants and the waterfront view is spectacular. The valet and desk staff were also friendly and helpful. The view at the rooftop restaurant / bar is awesome. On the downside, there is a high level of noise from the street and from nearby rooms. The walls are thin, and I could hear people next door talking and in the hallway. Also, the sheets on the bed are thin like paper towel and I was cold and had to wear a sweatshirt to bed to be warm. The bed itself is hard, not firm, but hard. I do not know what the bed is made of, but it seemed like plywood. Bed was uncomfortable, so at the end of a long day I did not get the relaxation of a good night sleep. Also, the bath products were small in proportion. Hand soap was a like a sliver of what you would throw away when you get to the end of a full bar. I would highly recommend making sure you bring your own shampoo, soap, body lotion and whatever bath products you like because you won't have them at this hotel. One other aspect that was an annoyance and not a huge deal was the television. You don't need a lot of television on vacation but it was exceptionally slow to change channels and was making it difficult to watch any television, so I mostly just watched one channel. If you will not be spending a lot of time at the hotel, but looking for a convenient and clean place that is friendly and in walking distance to bars, restaurants and attractions I think you would find this a good choice.

As you can see from the photo, this was the entire serving. At nearly $21 for a basket of fries, the portion felt completely unreasonable and not at all worth the price. I'm happy to pay for good food and a great atmosphere, but I expect the portion to at least feel appropriate for what I'm paying.

The staff was super friendly and accommodating from the moment we walked in the door, while the lobby and sprawling yet open hallway compelled us to peruse the guest options (i.e. heated indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub, onsite highly rated restaurant, comfortable indoor and outdoor gathering areas, outdoor bar, great coffee stand, etc.). We were surprised by an upgraded room - corner suite due to our special celebration. The room was amazing - spacious, comfortable and with a great lake view, a full and half bath. The workout room is small and leaves a bit to be desired if you are used to a gym, but does the trick for a one-off cardio or strength training. I would highly recommend the Delamar for a romantic getaway, a great place to stay for a wine tour on the Old Mission Point, a family trip, a work trip and more. This is a first rate place that is worth the slightly higher price vs. nearly competitive hotels. Thank you Delamar Staff for an amazing experience!

This place is sour grapes…read more Everything about our trip to Traverse was so much fun- and then there's this place. First, The food is way overpriced. My wife and I split a dinner, had a couple glasses of wine and spent $170 Oatmeal, 2 coffees and an egg bite at the cafe $40 The restaurant manager was completely out of line. He needs to understand food management and hospitality. At one point, I thought he was the customer-not us. The bar and restaurant folks are the opposite of accommodating. It's unfortunate as our group of 16 would have happily spent more money here than we did. The front desk folks were nice but no one was there to oversee the complete and undeserved treatment by the manager / security person while we were being targeted because he didn't enjoy that we were somehow not proper enough for his restaurant. Then he followed us around like we were some group of degenerates even after we left. The restaurant was largely empty. We were not rowdy. We weren't insulting the staff. The worst we did was send a soup back because it was cold. Yes, for $24 a bowl, the soup should be hot. Go figure. What a wet blanket on an otherwise fantastic weekend with friends. We will not spend another dollar in this establishment and I would encourage you to take the same approach. People come to the peninsula to have a fun time with friends, laugh, drink wine, and live it up. Get a grip Delamar or you aren't going to have to worry about large groups like ours in the future.

Though there wasn't much of a view for my first floor room I was close to the lobby which I was very content with. The breakfast had vegan options for my wife shockingly! Breakfast besides that was incredible with what was provided. They had cookies for guests in the evening hours. The fitness room was Prestine as well though I was slightly disappointed that a hot tub was supposedly advertised wish there is not but the pool has pretty solid hours too if the beach isn't your kind of thing. Prices here are kind of high but it was ultimately Justified throughout our entire visit. I will highly recommend and suggest coming here as your first choice if you are staying in the area.

2/5 Stars: Unhelpful Front Desk and Frustrating Policies…read more I was very disappointed with the front desk service here. Before our arrival, I asked about the possibility of an early check-in and was told to simply "call when you are in town." However, when we did call upon arriving in town, the lady at the desk completely changed her tune. She told us she couldn't even discuss preregistration, bag drops, or using the property amenities until after 12:30 PM. The lack of consistency and helpfulness made for a very frustrating start to our trip. If a hotel has rigid timeline restrictions, the staff should communicate them clearly upfront rather than giving guests the runaround.
