Patio overlooking the water - probably much nicer in the summer!
    Jessica O.

Stayed here for the first time in January with family, and we had a really nice experience! My sister and I registered for a snowshoe race, and this was the host for lodging for the event. Upon check-in we were promptly greeted, and the gentleman at the counter was very friendly and helpful. Our room was a suite, and it was so spacious!! It felt quite clean, and was nice and open. The front room was a tad on the dimly lit side, but was still a nice space. There were only 2 of us in the room, but being winter we had a lot of larger boots, coats, and other winter gear with us so it was nice to have the extra space. I also brought plenty of snacks and a few gallons of water. It was nice to have the mini fridge for my snacks, and the counter space for the water. The bathroom was pretty large, and was clean. The lighting was also a bit dim, which can be challenging when trying to do makeup. I ended up doing mine in the mirror in the bedroom since there was a ton of natural light. There was a patio off the bedroom with a great view over the water, but since we were there in January we didn't go out on it at all. My sister and her family had also booked the same size suite as us, though when they checked in they were given a room with 2 queen beds that would've been large enough for 2 people, but small for a family with 2 kids. Fortunately our mom also had a suite, so she just switched rooms with them. I'm not sure how the staff would've handled it if we didn't have that option amongst ourselves. We all used the pool and hot tub, and thought it was clean enough. I was surprised to see the hot tub so empty during a winter weekend! The kids had a blast playing in the pool. I was up too early for the race to enjoy the breakfast on our first morning, but did get some on our last morning and thought they had a really good selection. There were plenty of options for adults, as well as food that the kids liked as well. I also appreciated that they had coffee, tea, and hot water in the lobby 24/7. It was a cold weekend and we went through a good amount of tea! I'm not sure what it's like in the summer months, but we had a really nice stay for our weekend, and I look forward to staying there again for the snowshoe race weekend next year!

Loved our stay at the Cherry Tree Inn! The rooms were spacious and I loved the complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in the lobby! Our room even had a fireplace! I recommend upgrading your stay to the Lake Michigan Suite - we loved it!! The front desk staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming and the complimentary breakfast was very appreciated in the morning! The private beach and fire pits make this the perfect hotel for summer getaway! The indoor and outdoor pools + hot tub were so nice to relax in after a long day exploring! Great hotel for couples, families, or a girls trip! We loved our stay at the Cherry Tree Inn & Suites!

We had a blast at the Cherry Tree Inn! Highlights - great breakfast with lots of options, including a waffle iron (thank you Laura!) - super friendly front desk staff - complimentary coffee, tea, hot chocolate in lobby - the BEST options in the sweet shoppe / mini store - location is close enough to downtown, but is far away enough to feel more calm - jacuzzi tub, fireplace, balcony, futon, cooking utensils, stove burners, and XL mini fridge in the Lake Michigan Suite only con was that the pillows are veeeeery soft, so if you prefer a firmer pillow you might want to bring one from home. Can't wait to come back in the warmer months.

We went to this hotel on the Bay in Traverse City a few years ago and loved it. It was summer. So we thought, when we wanted to go back, of course we would stay here. What a disappointment. We got a corner Suite so the balcony would wrap around. A nice living room with a fireplace, master King room with door to balcony also, Jacuzzi and breakfast. The room was nice, not spectacular as they said they had redone the hotel. Old furniture. But too excited to notice at first. Our trip was for rock hunting and lighthouses. The first night we brought our very comfortable folding rocking chairs up to the balcony, went outside to have a drink and enjoy the Bay view, and spiders.....everywhere. You could not sit out there. In the morning we let the front desk know and was told well, we do a have a little swamp area out front so you're going to get spiders. (Almost $300 a night for room) She said she would send someone up to sweep them off the balcony and if they came back they would send someone the next day. OK....the breakfast was very good all mornings and Laura/Laurie made it even better. Great service and made sure everyone was taken care of and the food was hot. The coffee was Traverse City coffee and very good. We got back to our room that night and no one had been in our room or out on the balcony. So, no balcony for the rest of the trip. We were there 4 days, 3 nights. Was very shocked that the whole time we were there, no one cleaned or entered our room. (PS don't forget to read that piece of paper they give you when you check in) This was in September, just a week ago. Won't stay there again nor will we recommend it as we did before. The best part was breakfast and Laura~~~

Crumbs all over the floor when we came in the room

Not impressed. Not at all what was advertised online. The did not appear very clean. Stains all over the carpet, food crumbs on the floor in multiple spots, broken toilet seat, no screen door, no USB ports for electronics and broken outlets in the lamp next to the bed. Room has not been cleaned in 3 days, garbage piling up everywhere in our room. Breakfast beyond disappointing. Didn't even have orange juice the other day. Tiny table barely big enough for 2 people. Beach was decent at least and lobby was nice and had some snacks for purchase. Overall VERY disappointed for how much it cost us to stay here for 3 nights. Not worth the money.

This was a great place to stay in traverse city. We were there near the end of the season, and completely enjoyed our room and stay there. We did have a balcony, but didn't use it because of all of the spiderwebs out there and the pillows for the bed were pretty awful. Other than those two things, the room was perfect and comfortable!

Honestly, it is hard to find a place to start this review. I am tempted not to review because of the old saying about not having anything nice to say...but I really don't want anyone else wasting their money at this terrible location in such a wonderful city. We recently stayed at this property with our family of 4. 2 adults and 2 kids. We love T.C. and read through many reviews before selecting this location. We are shocked at how well this place is reviewed compared to our own experience. Many people talk about cleanliness at this location, but that could not be any farther from the truth. Everything seemed to feel and appear dirty and dingy and run down. Especially the common spaces. Luckily the rooms seemed to be only slightly more attended to with regard to cleanliness, but still far from great. We also were okay in paying the relatively high price that is required here, because we were hopeful that the amenities would be worth it. However, the pools were not well maintained, the hot tubs seemed dirty with a hint of yellow/brown color to the water, the poolside bathroom was very, very dirty and uncomfortable to be in, there was a mouse running around the outside pool, the beach never seemed attended to, the seating areas in the lobby were dull and uninviting, the hotel shop was underwhelming to say the least, the lobby and staircases reeked of smoke, the breakfast was not good (we left for breakfast even though it was included), the staff did not act welcoming and did not seem eager to help the customers with anything. The fridge in our room died in the middle of the night causing all of our food to spoil and have to be thrown out. They were very difficult in acknowledging this and made it difficult to get reimbursed for the lost food. We felt like prisoners in this hotel. This made it very hard to enjoy a family trip. The general staff including the GM, Arrow, seemed uninterested and rude. Nothing was good. It is sad that this place is so expensive and so well reviewed (it seems that many of these reviews are fake/planted) PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!!

This place was so nice and clean. The stuff was great friendly to us. I would definitely stay here again

Fantastic location on the East Bay of Traverse City. Spacious studio rooms. We prefer the Northport Studio - king bed, sleeper sofa, desk, small table and chairs, kitchenette and a balcony looking out over the bay. Breakfast included waffles, biscuits and gravy, sausage Pattie's, eggs, diced potatoes, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, danishes, bagels, toast, juices. Nice pool and hot tub both indoor and outdoor.

    So beautiful

Our family's first vacation in Traverse City with our 9 month old. We stayed in the Mackinac suite with a water view. Checking in was quick and easy and the staff was friendly. Our room was spacious, very clean and updated. The view from our balcony was amazing! Free breakfast was nice and the gentleman running the breakfast area was very friendly and has great customer service skills. Great outdoor pool, indoor pool and hot tub and the beach is fantastic. Great location and a quick drive to downtown. We look forward to staying at Cherry Tree again soon.

We called at about 3:00 on a Sunday afternoon to get a room for the night (kind of an impromptu extra night on our trip)...and i am glad we chose this place!!! We asked them if they do military discounts, which they do, but what was better than the discounted room was that there was a little 'gift bag' (water, popcorn and a voucher for a free movie or game, along with a patriotic balloon) in our room that had a note that said: "Thank you for your honor and valor you've given to our country and communities. You are always in our thoughts and prayers and we wish you wonderfully relaxing stay in our hotel. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask." How thoughtful and sincere was this??? It made me want to cry! There is nothing more that i love more than when people acknowledge and appreciate our military members. Now on to the other awesome things about this place : 1.) AMAZING views of the bay/beach 2.) Free shuttle to and from downtown and the casinos 3.) Free breakfast (which was pretty decent, not the crappy free breakfasts) 4.) Coffee, Tea, and chocolate chip cookies available in the lobby 24 hours (and they have a chocolate cherry coffee) 5.) Rooms were decent size with plenty of room 6.) This whole place is super clean 7.) The staff was SO nice and friendly AND WARM! 8.) Pool and hot tub inside AND outside 9.) They have conference rooms available 10.) Little kitchenettes in each room 11.) When they give you your keys, it's in a little packet with a ton of coupons to use on places in town 12.) A bucket of umbrellas at the front door 13.) Also, I've been to a lot of hotels in the area on the bay/beach and this place has the best beach area around. It's not weedy or grassy, or rocky. This place definitely goes the extra mile for it's guests, and i can guarantee we will be staying here again! Thank you Cherry Tree Inn for a wonderful stay. You will be seeing us again!!!!!!

No worries, she had a walker, so a disaster was averted. I did let the front desk know, and they were aware of it, and stated that the location is due for updating soon, and that will be fixed. Checking into her room, Rm 214, it was massive, and I was very impressed by all the handrails in the bathroom. There were some negatives of the room though, there were only light switches right by the door when you walked it, and then only on the lamps throughout the room. My mother got up in the middle of the night and couldn't find a way to turn on any lights and had to call down to the front desk. The other negative was that the door of the bathroom, which is immediately to the right of the room door, when opened prevented you from entering the room. My mother has balance issues and called me to come in the room to help her out of the tub, and because she left the bathroom door open, I could not access the room. Her friend was sleeping but could come let me in after she heard me knocking. The next negative is the lack of wastebin liners. I spoke to the front desk and they told me it was company policy in an attempt to be 'greener'. Although I love this sentiment, I hated the smell of my food garbage permeating my room, and ended up walking it down to the lined trash bin next to the ice machine. Myself, and several other patrons staying at your facility, found ourselves requesting laundry bags so we could line our trash bins ourselves. I know they can be pricey, but may I suggest keeping biodegradable trash Bags on hand for those customers who request liners for their bins, rather than putting them in every room at every turnover? That is the end of my negative feedback, I rarely, if ever, enter public pools or spas, and annoyingly enough for my travel companions, I travel with a pool testing kit in my car because of my job. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the pool & spa, and they tested spot on, so I gave my blessing to the members of our party to go ahead and enjoy. I was upset that the first, and only time, we ate at the in-house restaurant/bistro, was after checking out. We had the most fabulous breakfast! Lastly, and most importantly, I would like to sing the praises of the staff at this location. They were always friendly, professional, and very helpful. My mother lost a nut from her walker, which was preventing her from using it. I brought the walker to the front desk hoping they might have a maintenance room where a spare nut could be located. I then had 6 people on the case. Jack, Josh, Laura, Alexandria, Pete and Rin. I was so astounded and appreciative that so many people were on the case. A nut was found, but didn't fit right, and wouldn't stay in place, so Pete & Josh went looking more thoroughly and found something that would fit AND stay in place. They fixed my mother's walker, which she is pretty much lost without. This level of service AMAZED me.
