Unfortunately, the experience with one of the attendants completely changed our minds. While we were browsing, the female attendant gave us virtually no space to look. She repeatedly put her hands in our way and asked if we wanted her to hold rings for us, to the point where we couldn't comfortably browse without her standing right over us. It felt like we were being watched the entire time rather than welcomed as customers. The male attendant was very nice, which we appreciated. However, things took an even more uncomfortable turn when the female attendant called out her husband's name and motioned toward my sister, who happened to be wearing a ring similar to one she had when she entered the store. The way it was done came across as if she was signaling him to watch us or keep an eye on us. There was absolutely no basis for this implication, and we found it extremely disrespectful. We would never steal, and being treated as though we were suspicious simply because of what my sister was wearing was upsetting and completely unnecessary. We had every intention of purchasing something, but the way we were treated ultimately caused the store to lose our business. It's unfortunate because the jewelry was really cute and reasonably priced. A little trust, personal space, and basic respect for customers would have made this a completely different experience.

A while back I started getting my hair done at Carlyle Salon, which is a whole other amazing review in itself but to keep the focus in this review, I thought that this quaint little boutique tucked inside a salon was a major bonus. I've found some of my most favorite statement pieces and outfits at Chapala and Parker. Everything from an embroidered floral clutch that matches with everything, to a romper that I never thought would compliment my shape, to earrings that I never take off, and candles I never want to blow out! They feature a variety of different clothing pieces from casual to date-night looks, and they're always "in-season". No matter the occasion there is always something extra special and cute to be found at Chapala and Parker. Last Friday I visited the boutique with a friend, it had been a long time since we stopped by and we needed an end of the week pick-me-up. Due to Covid, there was a sign prompting us to call before we entered so that someone could let us in. Someone who was wearing a mask, and who kindly asked to please use the hand sanitizer provided before entering, came to let us in. THIS IS SO MAJORLY IMPORTANT! My friend and I had been to the boutique in the Funk Zone prior to coming to Chapala and Parker and there was NO sanitizer whatsoever in sight and the employees reluctantly put masks on whenever someone entered the store, which also did NOT seem to be regulated in any way. We did not feel that we were being kept safe there, however we were pleasantly surprised and excited to see that Chapala and Parker was practicing safe Covid methods for shoppers, and that they were still operating on regular business hours. I recognized the woman as the Carlyle salon owner Lisa, who is just the sweetest most friendly woman on the planet. She made my friend and I feel as if we all three knew each other and engaged in conversation with us for almost the entire time we were in the boutique. My friend and I left with timeless outfits that could be worn all season, cute affordable earrings to match, and mostly the feeling that our stop in the shop that Friday meant something more than just retail therapy. All in all, I highly recommend Chapala and Parker as one of the best and friendliest boutiques in Santa Barbara :)

I knew Brandy Melville for having good basics and was in search of a black bralette / bandeau, which I did not find exactly what I was looking for, however, I did find a few cute basic tanks and a pair of shorts with Santa Barbara screen printed on. Since I didn't need to try anything on -- most items should be O/S, I will comment that there was a long line for the fitting rooms. There was also WAY TOO MANY people who did not really need to be inside (like guys just standing around with their girl friends, etc. taking up space for other shoppers - just my opinion though). You can do a few short laps around different sections of the store, viewing tables and walls of which you were not able to see when you were standing around those spaces to begin with. The cash register had what looked to be 2-3 girls taking anyone who made eye contact for checkout. I wouldn't say they were the most engaging nor friendly, but I wasn't there to have a good experience, I just wanted to grab my things and go - therefore, checkout was quick, unpersonable, and I suppose, expected due to the type of customer or experience they might usually have? Not sure -- like I said, it's been a minute since I've been to a location and usually in Walnut Creek or Los Angeles. Prices are still okay though which is why we go.
