I wish the matcha to ice ratio was a bit better. My favorite on the menu was definitely the banana shake. I actually take it home and dilute it with more milk as it is very strong but it gives me more cups of matcha! First location to open up in the US from Japan and I was so excited to see how this compared. First of all this is a super small location! There is limited seating and standing room inside and there's really no seating outside to enjoy your drink. It's basically a grab and go place. I want to start by saying that the prices here are super high. If you're getting the most famous drink, which is the Matcha latte with ice cream and the white chewy balls, you're basically spending around $14 for one so it adds up really quick. Hatoya Ryouyousha (八十八良葉舎) is a specialty matcha stand that's originally from Kyoto, Japan, and seeing its first U.S. location open right here in Las Vegas makes it feel extra special. I came after the third week being open and there was a line (20 min). Worth it, because coming here is an experience! They limit how many people can be inside, which keeps the space calm and intentional. Once you order, you get to watch the matcha being freshly prepared and carefully added to your drink or dessert for a nice immersive touch. I got to try a little bit of everything, and the quality really stands out. I had the pleasure of checking out this place. Very cozy small place. The line order might get confusing due to the limited space so just asking around the people holding the menu to figure it out. There were many employees working hard. I was satisfied with my matcha shake. They did a little performance with the matcha whipped cream that I was able to record. Since it opened not too long ago, I expected the line to be much longer, and I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. For my drink because they make it right in front of you. This was the most I spent on a matcha drink. (About $16). Tried the cashier's favorite midori matcha and it was quite good. It was smooth in taste and you could definitely get the hint that the quality is there. Service was prompt and we came when there wasn't much of a line, so overall experience was alright in that regard. My husband and I got the salted hojicha and matcha lattes. The cream on top was a perfect compliment to the hojicha/matcha. There were nice umami notes in the match la that was further enhanced by the salt cream top. The matcha pudding had a very strong matcha taste. The inside is small, but very chic. All the drinks are made to order and they call you over and finish the drink off in front of you, so you're able to record it if you want. I've seen a lot of people complain about the price, but after knowing the process behind everything, I think the price is justifiable. This is famous in Japan for a reason and I think their first US location lives up to the name. They recently extended their hours which is nice too, there's too many matcha spots that close too early for Vegas standards so this is a great spot after your AYCE dinner! You have the option of getting it sweetened and I got it with a little bit of syrup, but I probably could've skipped the syrup all together as it didn't bring much sweetness to the drink (I did ask for the least amount possible). As you can see in the picture, the cup wasn't even filled all the way, not to mention the size is so tiny compared to other drinks. You're really getting ripped off with the serving size here. The sea salt lattes aren't even real lattes because there's no milk mixed into it. They just poured the matcha into the cup with sea foam on top. I wanted to at least add whip cream on the top to fill the cup, but they charge $2.50 just for the add on. Complete scam. I'm probably never going to come back again and stick to Airoma or Whip in the same plaza. I had a very disappointing experience on my first visit to Matcha Hatoya. The service was honestly terrible. When I asked what was inside the matcha shake, the girl at the register couldn't answer and kept repeating "it's matcha," instead of explaining the actual ingredients. It felt like she didn't know the menu at all, which is unacceptable for a specialty shop. I also asked if I could have shiratama (mochi) on the side with the matcha ice cream, and they refused, saying they "can't mix matcha and mochi together." That made no sense. Because of this, I had to order everything separately, which was inconvenient and frustrating. The whole experience felt rigid, unaccommodating, and very unprofessional. The staff lacked both knowledge and flexibility, and the service was not pleasant at all. After traveling all the way there, this was incredibly disappointing. I will not be coming back.
