Bought a bag of mild chili spice $5. Just had to since this is the chiliest place in the world! Selling outdoors. The guy was from San Jose, Ca. Seems like everywhere we go we meet people from the bay area. Very cool. On the main road. A very calm dog welcomed us. A lady was busy make a string of chilis.

Hit Hatch yesterday from Tucson to pick up 160 lbs (4 40-lb bags) of Sandias. Little did we know that Hatch was hit by rain for the previous 4 days so getting out to the fields to pick was difficult. Went to our usual place to get the chiles and they had NONE. We were told they weren't going out in the fields and warned that it was unlikely we'd find any fresh chiles, especially Sandias at any other vendor in town. Terribly disappointed we decided to try Hatch Chile Sales and were so excited when we were told they had been in the field that morning and had all varieties available. A little skeptical about the freshness since we had been told at our usual place to be careful not to be sold chiles picked right before the rains, our guy at Hatch Chile Sales opened a bag, let us dig around towards the bottom to inspect and he even took one out and snapped it open for us to see the freshness. He offered over the chile for us to taste and it was bright, crisp and spicy! Perfect! Placed our order, left to have lunch and came back to find all four bags roasted and ready to go. They carried them out for us and put our order in our ice chests. As we were getting ready to leave, a pickup truck came in from the fields with bags of just picked chiles stacked as high as possible. I've learned my lesson and will be hitting Hatch Chile Sales up for all my green chile needs in the future. This smaller, less commercialized place is not only cheaper but they try harder and I appreciate the customer service and warm smiles. Plus, how can you resist their guard dog? The littlest chihuahua ever!!!

Cool store. They didn't have any fresh chiles when I was there - which was disappointing - but I picked up several plastic baggies full of chile and garlic powder. They have quite a variety of dried chiles and powders and prices are ridiculously low.

Found this place after I had lunch across the street from the Pepper Pot in Hatch, NM. I couldn't find a website or phone number but of all the Hatch chile vendors, I think Hatch Chile Sales has the best prices and widest variety of local peppers. From ristras to ground chipotle to other spices for New Mexican foods, this place has it.

The place smells deliciously of peppers and has quite an assortment to choose from. Not sure how to cook with the peppers? Just ask the friendly young lady working the counter who is a wealth of information! Can't wait to make my own red chile sauce and cook with ancho peppers! Definitely worth the short drive off the freeway to stop here. Oh, and the parrot "Gizmo" makes for great entertainment!!

I love coming through the town to get some much needed chile. Prices are great and you get it from the source.

Order fulfillment has always been great and on time. This time however we discovered our "Hot" chiles were lacking any noticeable heat. They also look unusually long for Sandias, so I suspect they might be Big Jim or Joe Parker instead. We reached out to customer support who let us know we were probabaly "removing the vein". We've always followed the same process. Roast over an open flame, peal, remove the seeds, bag, and freeze. We never wash or de-vein the chiles and have always had a rich warm burn. After discovering the total lack of heat in this batch, we even left them roasted peeled with the seeds intact for two days in the fridge, hoping they'd develop some kick. Nothing. We're not heat chasers or "chile heads." Heck, we're from New England, not exactly known for spicy food. Usually, one pod is enough to add the perfect amount of heat to a dish. This time, I used five pods in a succotash, and the heat was barely noticeable. Honestly, this batch has only slightly more heat than a bell pepper. That's a big and disappointing departure from what we've come to expect. It really seems like we were sent the wrong chiles. But since they refuse to even consider that possibility or make it right, we'll take our business elsewhere. It's a lousy way to end what had become a beloved fall tradition for us. I'm sure our small 10-25 lb order won't matter to their bottom line, but we're genuinely bummed out.

I would simply stay away from this company if you can. I just ordered 10 lbs. of green chili and…read moretwo jars of red chili ($164.15 for the order) , and since I no longer live near Las Cruces (I now live in Michigan), I was hoping for the best. They shipped me 9 lbs. and then tried just today (an hour ago) to tell me they shipped my order as ordered. That's a complete lie, and I feel like they are trying to gaslight me (like I cannot count, though I hold a Ph.D. in English. Really? The majority of our population can count to 10, unless you are 0-2 years old.) This is a joke of a company. I told them it's the principle of the issue and that I do not like to be lied to, but that I'd take one for the team and eat the cost. I will never order from them anymore. I'd rather drive to Hatch, NM, and buy the roasted chili myself--at least I will be able to get a good southern New Mexican meal made by family owned businesses who are about their community. I still love Cruces, always will, and I still love Hatch, NM, but this company gives the area a bad name.

What an adorable little tea shop in a sleepy, small New Mexico town! We were passing through on a…read moreroad trip in late 2020 (a COVID-safe way to travel), and stopped here to stretch our legs. The tiny town of Mesilla has a quaint downtown square with a few specialty shops and restaurants and, as a tea lover, I made a beeline for this place. The shop is stuffed with all sorts of loose teas, local products, honey, essential oils, and tea making accessories. Pretty much any of the locally made items would make outstanding souvenirs for any foodie. I make hot tea a lot, so I wanted to peruse all the loose leaf teas. My normal tea shop has a better and larger selection, but I really wanted to support this small business. I had a few questions about the teas for sale, and while the girls working the day I visited were very eager to help, they were sadly not well-versed in tea. Because of this, I ended up just purchasing a standard oolong because I didn't have a lot of confidence in their tea knowledge (just FYI; hopefully the owners will do a bit better training). I don't expect workers to be brew experts, but I would appreciate more thorough knowledge about specialty products. The prices are about what you'd expect for a touristy type tea shop, and when I got home, I made a pot of the oolong and it was tasty. If you love tea, check this place out if you're in the area. Friendly people and good customer service.
