We had the pleasure of talking with the grandson and his wife, who now run the business. They were incredibly sweet, welcoming, and genuinely happy to answer questions and help us pick out products. We brought home a jar of their extra hot green salsa, and wow...it is absolutely incredible. It has a serious kick, but the heat never overpowers the flavor. You can actually taste the fresh Hatch chiles instead of just burning your mouth. It's hands down one of the best salsas I've had. My order contained frozen, perishable items and was delivered to my apartment building's mailroom. The packaging did not indicate that the contents were perishable or needed to be kept frozen. By the time I became aware of the delivery and retrieved my package, everything was warm, the ice had melted, and I had to throw away the entire order. I reached out to customer service hoping for a reasonable resolution. Instead, I was repeatedly told that shipping and delivery emails had been sent and that there was nothing more they could do. When I raised concerns about the lack of labeling on the packaging, the response was essentially that labeling wouldn't make a difference. What disappointed me most wasn't just losing the products I paid for, but the lack of empathy, accountability, and willingness to problem-solve. I understand businesses have policies, but I also believe good customer service means recognizing when a situation could have been handled better and making an effort to retain customers. It's unfortunate because I truly liked their products and wanted to continue supporting this business. However, how a company treats its customers when something goes wrong says just as much about its values as the products it sells. I hope the company takes this feedback seriously and considers how it can better support customers, particularly those living in apartment buildings where packages may not be delivered directly to their doors.

Pretty much any of the locally made items would make outstanding souvenirs for any foodie. I make hot tea a lot, so I wanted to peruse all the loose leaf teas. My normal tea shop has a better and larger selection, but I really wanted to support this small business. I had a few questions about the teas for sale, and while the girls working the day I visited were very eager to help, they were sadly not well-versed in tea. Because of this, I ended up just purchasing a standard oolong because I didn't have a lot of confidence in their tea knowledge (just FYI; hopefully the owners will do a bit better training). I don't expect workers to be brew experts, but I would appreciate more thorough knowledge about specialty products.
