The time has finally come, and Hatch has opened a brick-and-mortar you can swing by anytime (well Tuesday-Sunday for breakfast and lunch)! I've been getting their breakfast burritos since the Accordion Club, and I'm just thrilled for them to have a permanent space and a larger offering! When you walk in the front, you're greeted by the bright, airy, and spacious indoor seating and you'll immediately see the ordering counter. They have a community table towards the back by the bathrooms and outdoor seating through the back door. There is parking behind the building though I haven't had issues finding street parking out front either. Now onto the food! Hatch specializes in New Mexican food with their breakfast burritos being their most well-known specialty. I've tried all of them over the years, and you really can't go wrong with any of them. The "new" burritos at their location are HUGE and definitely shareable, which is so reasonable for the price. You can get their burritos "smothered" and plated. They also have soups, chips and guac, desserts, and beverages. So happy to add Hatch to our regular rotation!

This businesss has a cult following from various popups around Durham. Happy to see they have a new brick and mortar. Stopped by on the opening weekend and their full menu was not available yet, but the breakfast burritos definitely were. They are delicious with the right amount of hatch pepper kick. Eventual full menu will include pancakes, stew, and lunch burritos. Decor is pretty sparse for now but will probably change soon. You order at the counter and they call out your name when ready. Place was already packed when we went but we still got our burritos quicker than we thought. We'll be back.

As a SoCal native, I've been looking for a great breakfast burrito and so far, I think this is my top contender! The menu is small but everything is really well done. The sausage breakfast burrito was great and I would go back and get it again. The people who work there are incredibly friendly and are so excited for people to come try their food! While it is off of downtown, parking is not hard to find around this establishment. West coast folks should definitely come out and try it!

We decided not to order the tacos as they were $14.99 for 3. Instead we ordered the Vegetarian Machete ($12.99) to share. A Machete is a rather large corn quesadilla that is folded in half and roughly looks like a blade, and can be filled with a variety of items. The Vegetarian Machete here is filled with cheese, pickled onions, peppers, cilantro, spring onions, and then topped with pico de gallo, more onion, and both a red and a green sauce, there was even a few pieces of grilled zucchini. Also on this plate was a grilled jalapeño, rice (with corn, peas, etc), black beans, wedges of lime, and some sliced radishes. This is a dish I'd never had before, but I will certainly have it again if the opportunity presents itself. The dish was not just full of flavor there was plenty of food, and sharing was about right.

They took our order but didn't get our name, payment, or give us an order number. They told us that the order would be ready within 15 minutes and it was. I went inside to pick it up...we ordered chicken enchilada, fajitas, a chile relleno, 3 hard tacos, an ACC, an ACPC, and some queso. I know this was a big order and I was going to take it out of the bags to verify but the gentleman helping me went through the receipt with me and assured me that everything was there. I paid and went to may friends house. We're all sitting around the table and start passing out the food only to find out that the 3 hard tacos were missing. That was supposed to be my husbands meal. We called them to tell them we were missing the hard tacos, they said to come back and they would give them to us. So we went back. They did give us a free queso for our trouble but by the time we got back to the house, no one's food was hot or even warm anymore. The interior of the restaurant was really cute and the food was actually really good. I was just really disappointed that we had to go back to pick up something that they assured me was in the bag. I guess it's my fault, I should have taken the time to look myself on such a large order, even if it made me seem rude. I guess it being ready so quickly should have been an indication. I'm probably not going to return to this place unless someone else wants to meet here but I will definitely not recommend ordering take out.

Service: although the server seemed forget quite a few things, she was very nice. Other servers help each other out which was great to see. Food: the complimentary chips arranged unique and it was good. Salsa dip and queso dip ordered was, sorry but mediocre at best. We have tried carne asada plate which comes with thin rib eye, Mexican rice, refried beans and elote (corn on the cob), arranged uniquely. Again the taste of carne asada along with other condiments were not impressive. Chicken enchiladas plate with red sauce was alright. Chicken was tough, taste was somewhat dull compared to other traditional restaurants comparably. In total, I would give 3.5 stars. Great service (5 stars) but food-wise (2) everyone in our table was not impressed compared to near by Mexican restaurants.

We settled on a citrus shrimp dish served in a cast iron dish which was different, fresh, that includes a side salad that was filled with fresh veggies and rice to accompany the shrimp with warm tortillas. Our waitress who took good care of us was one of those in the booth. It didn't make any difference to us but some people would think that they were just sitting there not doing anything. The menu accurately describes the dishes, and we all were pleased with what we ordered. The fajitas portion was massive! And there was a huge amount of steak in the steak tacos. CAUTION: Disgusting Tacos Ahead!…read more My wife and I had lunch on Friday, June 1. Let me start with the one thing that was good, then elaborate on everything else, which was not ... especially the "scab" tacos. Really?! Scab tacos??!! [They chose the name, not me. Bet they would like a do-over. Just sayin'.] THE GOOD - The smokey, deep brown salsa served slightly warm was quite tasty. EVERYTHING ELSE: 1. I had the Shrimp Diablo Tacos and they were a disaster! Not only was the shrimp fishy, but the "costra style" shells were an absolute abomination: VERY greasy, amazingly unattractive (see photo), and likely packed 800 calories each due to the grease and cheese. Since there was only 1 bar of web connection, I was unable to Google "costra style" before ordering. Had I been able to do so, the description of being "scab like" (yep! You read that correctly!! Scab!!!) would have made the dish a No Go. That said, I will say the term is accurate: they were DEFINITELY scab-like in appearance, and the degree of grease oozing off of them put me not only in mind of a scab, but one attached to an infected wound. Barf!! 2. My wife's #1 from the lunch menu was about as basic as a taco and enchilada can be. She even told me it was a stretch to call it Mexican food. 3. And one final point: the place is L-O-U-D inside. Not quite - but almost - to the degree of being unable to talk while eating. Adios!
