Loved this place. Decor was very interesting, bright and fun. The couch type chairs are very comfy and place was clean. The young workers behind the register were very friendly, helpful about what was good and gave great menu item descriptions. They were very excited about the food on the menu and shared personal favorites. Food came out fairly quickly but not together for the table. They also kept forgetting items from our order but were quick to get it for us. Note the workers taking the order behind the counter are also the ones bringing the food out. Food was amazing! I have the 3 birria tacos (1 chicken 2 beef- though I ordered it flipped but appreciated the error as the beef were better tasting) and rice with beans. Loved that I got the birria sauce on the side in a Togo cup as I definitely took the leftovers home. There are self serve salsas, lime, cucumber and radishes you can get. I came here for lunch on a Tuesday. There were quite a few people waiting for their meals to be delivered to their tables. The menu is pretty simple but I think it has everything you'd want at a taco joint. I got the Chicken and steak bowl. The person working the counter initially told me that I was only able to get one protein and I told him to go ask a manager to make sure. He returned and told me I could indeed order more than one, which was great because I knew what I wanted. The bowl was good overall. It was light and fresh. Can you say Taco Tuesday?!?! This is one of the spots I like to come for lunch. My favorite special is the $0.98 tacos on Tuesday. Nicely done food. Good flavor. Good presentation. Service is usually good! Friendly and with a smile. Had a small hiccup that wasn't fixed most recently but I think there may have been a language barrier. No one was dismissive or mean. We've been here twice now, once when it was relatively new and another time with a discount offer. It's a fast casual place where you order at the counter and then pick it up when its ready. On my first visit, I tried the birria ramen (quite filling), and on the second, we had a chicken burrito and a fried avocado bowl. There's a little station with some salsa but the cups are tiny. I arrived here around 7:07pm on a Saturday evening to get dinner. This is an old Wendy's and i learned about this place via Instagram. Order was placed at 7:13pm. I got the quesabirrias combo that comes with 2 tacos, rice, beans and a drink. I also got a rib eye asada taco. My date got a chicken quesadilla, loaded fries, and chips + queso. We also got drinks. I got a strawberry watermelon margarita and they got a mango passion margarita. The drinks were made and given quickly. Normally they are $8.99 but per the receipt, the margaritas were $3.99. We love a good special! I enjoyed my margarita. It has the right about of alcohol. I didn't like my date's mango passion margarita. To me, it tasted like the prescribed medicine you get when you're sick. To be fair, they didn't like my margarita lol. I guess we both chose the right one for us. My date said they wished they had mango by itself vs being paired with passion fruit. I got sugar rim but it honestly didn't matter because the cup was plastic vs glass. After placing the order, we were given a number and took a seat. We sat at the booths that were semi lit. We received l the food at 7:25pm which was quick. Food Quality: 3.5/5 -The beans were hot but the rice was lukewarm. The rib eye taco: Meat was DELICIOUS! Perfectly cooked. However, it was cool and barely warm. -Quesabirria tacos weren't bad. They tasted better with the consume. I've had quesabirria tacos that tasted great without the consume. -Quesadilla: My date said: "the size was great; for the price, it was really good" -Loaded fries: My date said: "the chicken was well seasoned" and the sauce on top was "good". Presentation: 4/5 -To my surprise, all the food was bagged up. I know I said for her. I asked the cashier and she confirmed I said for her. She apologized for the mix up. Since everything was boxed separately, it's hard to judge what the presentation would've been like had it been plated for here. After we opened everything, I noticed we were missing the chips for the queso. I showed receipt and got the chips. It came in a to-go bag. The cashier brought over a plate for us to put the chips on. My ride and beans were in the same container. I would've liked for it to be separate but it wasn't a big deal. Although the food was packed to go, it was packed fairly well. Service: 4/5 -Cashier was patient when ordering and provided some recommendations when asked as it was my our first time. She did apologize for mix up with take out vs dine in order. There were positive interactions with the other staff I interacted with. Ambiance & Cleanliness: 5/5 -My date said "the vibe in here is really nice" and I would agree. I liked the decor. From the inside, you wouldn't be able to tell it used to be a fast food restaurant. The restaurant was clean and tidy. They do have areas they are dimly lit and more intimate. To my surprise, they have a hockey table and gumball machine. Value for Money: 5/5 -My date said "we got good portions" and noted this food would've cost more else where. I would agree. With all the food plus the two drinks, it was about $53. -It seems they do have specials but they aren't posted. While it was a nice surprise that the margaritas were cheaper, it would be nice for specials to be visible. Overall Experience: 4/5 -The biggest issue was the mix up with to go vs dining in and the temperature of a few food items. I visited when this first opened , they were ok but skimp on their portions for the price, I could go to a authentic Mexican restaurant and spend less and have leftovers.. Looked at the other taco and it was completely empty, I can understand a slight bit might have been turned over due to the ride but you would have to speed a pretty decent amount and go over bumps and turns to do what the box looked like , so there's no way ALL the meat on the taco shifted that fast lmao . Anyways so I call the manager and told him, he said okay come in and ask for him , I told him I'll be there at 3. I'm there at 3:05 the latest and he's gone somehow . I speak to the short lady with brown hair and some blonde lady and they called the manager and starting speaking Spanish which I speak anyways so whatever lol but yea meanwhile while she's on the phone she's already picked up the tacos five times plus breathing on it ... she gets off the phone and says we can only replace the one taco because it shifted so I mean and honestly I don't know about yall but by this time two different people had touched the food and the food was cold by the time I could bring it back so I asked them to just politely make both, she looked like she was going to say no again until the other person that touched the food finally said something and just remade the tacos Honestly I would've refunded it but I didn't have my brother's card. So the space is very cool, and the prices are right. The service is.... strange.... It did not seem like the shift manager knew what was going on. Using offline (a local discount service) was a hassle for them and they were not aware of a wine wednesday promotion that was announced on their instagram. The indoor dining area was sort of tight and constricted, but they had some game tables in the room as well. We went on a Thursday night. It was very busy. My husband and I live just up the street and don't know why it took us so long to check this place out! We've gone twice now and have loved everything we've ordered. My husband loves their birria quesadillas and they make some great salsa flavors! I have found my new go-to order which is their burrito bowl with added steak and guac. The building was empty for a long time and they put a lot of work into making the outside design look awesome. The inside has a very chill, cosy vibe with decent amount of seating. It seems like they are still working on their drive thru menu sign but the drive thru is open and their website is easy to navigate to see the full menu. I do see they have drive thru available but we have not tried it yet. We feel so lucky to have them just down the street from us! We told our neighbors about this hidden gem and they went the same day and loved it just as much. We have tried a few of the tacos which were simple and delicious (fried fish, pastor, and chorizo/steak combo). The chips are light, crispy and delicious. The queso is similar to most Hispanic restaurants but has a nice little spice to it making it unique and tasty! The quesabirria is top notch and the nachos were a whole meal-so good. Awesome find. Husband hesitated to leave a review in case it would render this place too busy for us to enjoy. We sided with giving credit where it is well deserved. We've been missing authentic tacos and this place is solid. Fresh, clean ingredients that aren't masked by heavy cheeses and sauces and range of drink options. Even the horchata, tamarind, and mango bins looked clean and appetizing. Awesome salsa, which is essential to a taco shop worth revisiting. Also great is food we don't have to fight with our kids to eat. They finished within minutes and enjoyed the air hockey while waiting for the grown ups. For a store that says they're open until 11pm, they sure can't tell time. It's not even an hour before closing and they are closed inside causing a wrapped around on the drive thru. And the employees were incredibly rude. I had to pick up a DoorDash and I was forced to add 20 minutes to my dash because they failed so miserably at providing good service. I post negative reviews based on what I would want to know as a customer. What could improve? Their sanitation score for starters. I'd read about the parent company's restaurants getting poor sanitation reviews, so when I went into this place I asked to see theirs since it wasn't actually displayed on the wall... The manager came out and said that it had fallen off the wall. So why not put it back up? Because the rating was not high. It was a B which is not good especially during these times of unreported salmonella and listeria outbreaks. Be forewarned. In comparison, Chubby's has a 97. Word to the wise. read more
