Steven has gone above and beyond, even in the telephone hand-holding, looking at the pics I sent by text, giving suggestions. And the hot water is up, the local company is gonna fix the meter spritz immediately, and we are working together to see if I will need help on the heat (any busted spots?) after I try to do certain warming techniques in the house after I had Love Effron prime the boiler. This is even without a visit needed so far (very busy holiday weekend, and a big $-saver for me.) Amazing would be a light way to describe the help Steve has given me, and I plan to turn over the maintenance and support of anything he handles, including some help in trying to set up sensors to help prevent future difficulties. The big thing ... he really cares about your problem .. getting it resolved .. sensibly. Thanks!

From my own personal experience, this company works above and beyond in every aspect of the job. He even came during an emergency event where he didn't even know me as a client and I needed an electrician so bad and he came immediately to help me. I've dealt with a few electricians with owning this home and he is by far the most exceptional and great person to work with. I feel like he's very fair in his pricing and he doesn't try to take advantage like a lot of electricians do. He has great customer service he keeps you up-to-date with what's going on with the job before the job starts during the job process and I trust him and his company completely and anyone saying otherwise is honestly lying. Plus His work is super clean. My husband loves his work. I love people who do clean jobs and do it nice and neat and he is very neat with his work.

They take their time explaining situations to us, repair issues at a reasonable rate, and even dropped what they were doing and rushed over to our house when I reported being electrocuted in our home, which is an hour away. Unfortunately the situation in our home is continuing, but four other electricians have been stumped as well as to what is causing the random electrocutions. Of all of the electricians we've had thus far, Omar and his crew have uncovered more of the issues, tested electronic equipment for leaking power and has shown genuine concern and empathy for us. I would recommend Ohms to anyone based upon our experiences with them.

They painted the doors, reused any hardware they could (after cleaning and polishing it), bought matching hardware where necessary, and hung the doors so they open and close perfectly. My husband and I are very pleased with Matt and his crew, and we will DEFINITELY be having them back for more work. The doors look so nice, we have to have the whole shed repainted now. lol I highly recommend Matt. He listens to everything you say, makes recommendations, works within your budget, and cleans up everything when he's done. And I'll be honest, the handyman we usually work with was booked up for months. It actually seemed like all the handymen were. (There's a pandemic out there, and apparently everyone's taking the time to fix up their home.) Marty let me know that he was busy too, and that he was taking some time to spend with his family (and you can't begrudge someone being a good family man). But he was willing to do the work when he was free, which is all we could ask. I also appreciate how he operates. He'd prefer to get photos/video of what the problems were so he can give you an accurate estimate before even setting foot in the place (saves everyone time), and so he can show up with all the materials necessary (saves everyone time and money). His website is also pretty comprehensive; it lists all the things he does, who he is, how he works, and shows work he's done. That's how I found him, and I'm glad I did. I also like that he's willing to admit what he can't do (in our case, it was more involved electrical work). Some folks claim they can do anything, and will do a less than ideal job; Marty will just recommend someone who he's worked with and can vouch for. In any case, we had a few odd jobs that needed doing, and once Marty let me know when he was available, he was on time, and efficient. He did quality work. I thought the pricing was fair for his time and labor, and I would hire him again. That's really all you can ask from a handyman.

I was pleased to learn about Marty and HV Handyman from a Yelp review, and even more pleased that the review was written by someone from Yelp I actually know in person. Marty is professional yet casual, a nice combination. He was always quick to get back to me when I contacted him in advance of the work, always in less than 24 hours. When I initially sent him a description of the work and a photo, he got back right away with his estimates of time and materials, and cost. Along the way, he was proactive when it came to things unexpected or little adds. For example, he discovered rodent damage on some of my electrical wires, and he immediately offered to take care of that. Within an hour, he had gone and returned to the local Home Depot with the extra materials to address the issue, and the add-in to the overall cost was again reasonable. He did 99% of the cleanup as well, leaving me with about 5 minutes of work to wipe off some dust after he completed the spackling, sanding, and painting. Marty also doesn't over-book, and he is again up front with what he can and cannot do. I've already discussed another project or two I'd like him to tackle once warmer weather has returned. I only hope he hasn't been swamped with additional work requests based on positive word-of-mouth and word-of-Yelp.

After diagnosing an issue as a contractor error, John Kulk later changed his story to the contractor, claiming it was our fault, which caused significant confusion and delays. John Kulk then suggested we file a claim with our homeowners insurance to correct the negligence of the contractor. The next day, the contractor stated in writing that he had "conferred" with John Kulk and repeated the same question, "perhaps that could go through your homeowners' insurance??" During the service, the atmosphere was uncomfortable. John Kulk said he can't find qualified workers and complained his employees frequently argue in front of customers. We previously had to ban John Kulk's employees from our home due to their unprofessional behavior. We also faced major reliability issues; snow removal was promised but denied immediately when the first snow storm arrived. Given the overpricing and lack of professional conduct, the quality of service here has significantly declined. We do not feel comfortable having John Kulk's Plumbing in our home again. Despite this, there unfortunately was still a misunderstanding on our end. We reviewed the reports and decided to get both the creosote treatment and boiler liner installation. Dave and Matt came to do those and were friendly, efficient and clean. Later, when my husband looked at the work they did, it did not appear to be what we were previous told it would be at the initial inspection. We expected masonry and busting through the cinderblock and there didn't seem to be any of that. We wanted to make sure they were doing what we had been told they would do. We called and spoke to the owner, Robbie, who listened attentively to my husband's concerns. He very professionally and calmly explained the misunderstanding and apologized, explaining that honest work and customer satisfaction is of their upmost priority. We were very impressed with how he handled this and left the conversation having 100% faith in this business and its service people. He even came out again to repair some cracks that had formed once the cement had dried. Robbie went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied customers. HV Chimney has been the only service I've used since purchasing my home 17 years ago. And Larry has been my go-to for advice and insurance that the job was properly managed. On this cleaning trip, Larry thoroughly inspected and cleaned the wood burning insert they recommended and installed a little less than a year ago. I didn't expect it to be a big job since we've used the fireplace just about four months in 2025. ( I almost put the service off a bit longer to save a few bucks.) My safety minded brain would not let me. THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT: my stove was not in use for months over the warm weather, so we we able to proceed. TIP: DO NOT USE UOUR FIREPLACE FOR AT LEAST 48 hours and insure there are no hot coals or they will need to reschedule for safety. We were ready to proceed. I'm glad I kept my appointment because more soot had built up in the nooks and crannies than was visible. SAFETY FIRST!!! Larry did his usual thorough examination and cleaning an left my living room tidier than he found it. I am considering options for a second fireplace that we decommissioned nearly 15 years ago. Larry took a close look and offered several great options for me. He's honest and Kelly at the office is wonderful and responsive, too.
