Hey guys! Cerritos farmers market is my Saturday morning routine.Ha's Fuji Apples is number one on my list.Last Saturday I bought dozen of apples, dried Fuji apples to David Ha.This time I bought a jar of Fuji Apple Butter and add it on my pancake this morning. The result was amazing and it compliment the apple flambé toppings. Mr.Ha's Fuji Apples are so crispy and sweet a must have in your dining table.

Well it's fall y'all which means it's apple harvest season in Tehachapi, California. The city of Tehachapi is a small mountain community that produces some of the most delicious apples I have ever tasted. Hubby and I like the Ha's farm fruit stand the best. It is a family run operation. They sell pears, pomegranates, onions and other select veggies but our all time favorite is their dehydrated apple slices. They are a real treat and a bit addictive so make sure you buy a big bag. For those of you health nuts, check out the ingredients, APPLES, that's it, nothing else but beautiful apples. So start a tradition and pick up a half bushes (20 pounds) of farm raised apples. My favorites are Fuji and honey crisp. They are so juicy and sweet and they are great for baking too. Thanks Ha's family for doing what you do.

I've been buying Fuji apples from the Ha's Apple Farm booth at the Long Beach Downtown Farmer's Market on Fridays for probably a good 10 years now. I don't know what magic the owner, David Ha, uses on his apples but they are the best. They are always crisp and sweet. They last longer than grocery store apples if you store them in your crisper. Today I also got some peaches. They are also crisp and sweet. Yum!

Whenever I have a free Saturday morning, I hop over to the SoCo Farmers Market in Costa Mesa. Ha's is one of the highlights there. They have a wide variety of different types of Apples, including Cameo and Pink Lady. They have samples of each cultivar of apple to try before you buy. They aren't the cheapest, but their apples are truly fresh off the Farm.

These Jujube (Chinese dates) are HUGE!

The Big Red Barn has a lot of fresh fruit, baked goods, and other treats to choose from. The real fun is when you pick the fruit yourself though. We got ourselves some sweet blackberries to take home. Out on the farm, we had the best tractor ride and learned some fun facts about fruits, as well as slid on the huge slide and played some outdoor games. While we were here, we ate some oakie pies. My favorite is thanksgiving dinner. It tastes just like November-- Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and gravy. They have other tasty savory pies like the chicken pot pie, blueberry pulled pork, and the breakfast pie. Of course, you could get some sweet ones too! The service is very friendly and the farm truly has fun for everyone! I can't wait to come back for stone fruit season.

If you decided to pick fruit you pay by the pound at the end which is reasonable but the fee per person just to walk around seemed on the high end. They have goats, chickens, peacocks, a variety of birds, chickens and roosters and cool art displays. We saw signs for paintballing and hayrides though I didn't see any wagons operating. The main reason we stopped was to try the Okie Pies. I had never heard of them and I am always looking to try new things. They remind me of a large empanada or handheld meat pie. We tried 3 savory and 1 dessert Okie Pie. They were out of blueberry so we settled for Apple and it was good but super sweet. I love desserts and unless you're a diehard apple pie fan you may find this to be too sweet. Savory flavors were salsa verde, chicken pot pie, and blueberry BBQ pork. The blueberry BBQ sounds odd but it was everyone's favorite. Everyone was very friendly and there was even someone who let the kids pet the goats and roosters. We'll stop on the way back home for more blueberry BBQ Okie Pies.

I show up before 10am everytime and it hasn't made a difference if I showed up right before closing to get some Chamoy candies, and a Agua Fresca from Howie or some rib tips or breakfast tacos/burritos from Martin. This outdoor market is a place for the locals to grab some organic produce or try the latest food truck item they've been seeing while scrolling on social media. I come for the seasonings and the cinnamon rolls. We showed up a couple hours after opening and the only cinnamon rolls left were the traditional. I was t in the mood for the basic ones so I decided to try out one of their gourmet cookies instead. For $6 I tried out the Ferraro Roche chocolate chip cookie and it was absolutely delicious! We'll come back in a couple of months when our seasonings need to be replenished but by that time it'll be scorching outside making it miserable to walk this market.

It's located in a parking lot behind the main strip and in a residential area. All street parking but it tends to be pretty easy. There's a bakery vendors that I've had a few times but they do sell out quite fast. Their fresh baked bread and sweets are one not to be missed. This visit, they weren't there in their usual section so I assume they were pretty much sold out fast. Loads of fresh organic vendors with all their goods. As it was summer, there were so many vendors with amazing tomatoes. Heirlooms, grape tomatoes and so all. Everything all looked so fresh and I'm sure it was straight from the farm that morning. Also loads of other vendors selling their homemade goods, like soap to candles to everything in between. Majority of the vendors are fresh produce so you know you'll be picking up fresh farm products. Also fresh flowers are always a must when a visiting the farmers market. Can't forget the fresh berries and fruits. Doesn't scream summer without all the fresh berries straight of the plant. Regardless what you're looking for or not, I'm sure you'll always leave with plenty of fresh things at this market. Their items are always so fresh. A must whenever I'm Ojai. Prices are a bit more than Oxnard prices but I do think it's great to support local especially seeing the quality difference between local vendors and grocery stores. $13 for eggs still seems a bit steep for recovering from the egg hiked prices where they are now back to $6-7 in grocery stores. There was a vendor that sells sourdough breads and she was quite popular has she always had a line. Caroline's preservative jams are amazing in flavor and quality. I also appreciated that Centri Coffee was there so that I could buy some whole beans.
