Vision coverage through insurance has become so confusing and limiting to choice of covered providers. I chose Oakland Vision Center for several reasons, so I made an appointment. When I walked in the office I saw the office staff were helping one elderly lady. They were helping her with kindness, just like they would do for their grandmother. I was answering questions as a new customer when the phone rang. She answered the phone and asked them to hold on while continuing to helping me. Then soon after, one worker came out from back and asked her to help the person on the phone, and she took the tablet to continue filling out the form for me. They work together to provide the best possible service for all their customers. When I was selecting a frame for my glasses, one lady helped me find the frame I was looking for. The other store told us that under our insurance we could only choose from his small ugly display of frames. So I went and bought the frames discounted online. Found franklin lakes store for the lenses and she explained my insurance plan would cover up to 150.00 frames that covered the nice Ray Ban frames with a 20 or 30 dollar copay. I'm returning my online frames and buying the insurance covered ones from her. Appreciate her honesty. Will be returning for all family frames and lenses. She has a decent selections of good looking frames as well

I had my prescription filled and called her mid morning about a week and a half later to see if I could pick up my glasses that day. I was driving to CT the next day and did not want to drive home at night without glasses. Janet promised I would have the glasses by end of day but they were not delivered to her. She had the lab rush them after hours and delivered to my home at 8:30 pm so I could leave in the morning for my daughter's. This is personal service you would never get any where else. Both were great and very helpful and reviewed each of our situations. After that, we went out onto the sales floor found some glasses we like, and spoke with Maritza-772895. She assisted us with the purchase. We had NVA insurance which the dr office took but for some reason, the sales floor was not able to pull up the insurance. Maritza was unable to or did not know who else to call to get this resolved. So the only course of action was to pay out of pocket and file the claim manually myself. She gave some discount to assist with the cost. Then both lenses were not in stock and they had to be sent out. That was another frustrating issue. Maybe because this was a smaller store they did not have the inventory IDK. It would be nice if they were able to just send it to another store to be processed the same day. The time spent on it I could have asked to see if they could transfer or purchase the frames there and go to another location to have the lenses completed. Maybe next time I may ask to do that. Overall the Drs. were Great! The Frames and lenses purchase experience was so-so. I may go back next year Or check out the Willowbrook Mall location as I think they are still larger than this location.

When I asked the front desk how much longer I would have to wait, she said, "Dr. Pong always runs a little late." A "little" late?? So far it's 1 hour and 20 minutes late and counting. This is absolutely ridiculous. My time is not being valued at all. I have been to Dr. Pong before and she is an excellent practitioner, HOWEVER, I expect her to be both....a great eye doctor and one who values the time of her patients. This is unprofessional and extremely rude. I will be finding a new eye doctor after this for sure. I'm still deciding if I should even stay for this appointment.....
