Once I made it in, the ladies were busy folding but one came over to assist me with checking in. They started first with putting hand sanitizer on my hands and then take my temperature. Then they were trying to figure out the Groupon situation. After trying to scan and then trying to type in the number they just wrote it down and told me to mark as redeem. Alright now over that obstacle I was shown where my room was. First impression I have never been to a spa that the walls didn't meet the ceiling so you can hear everything from every direction. The beds were not very comfortable to lay on and didn't have the warming blankets to help with folks like me that stay cold. Now on to the massage. Well it all started pretty good but started going down him very quick. I asked for another blanket due to being cold and they placed a few towels on my to help. Then when I am trying to relax there is an two employees having conversation pretty loudly in the other room area, the music then shuts off so it appears even louder, and then with my towel basically rolled off exposing my side and part of my butt the lady opens the door and leaves it open while she walks out the room. I am not a huge modest person but hey now there's people walking around and I don't need anyone getting ideas. So after that I really couldn't relax because not only did it happen that once but it happened again. I asked her to please stop leaving with my towel exposing me. She just giggled. (Facepalm) Once the session was over they were then wanting to talk and asked me what their tip was going to be. From my understanding I thought it was up to the customer to decide that.....and then stated normally at least $10 or more is good. I was shocked that I was getting told what someones tip is going to be. Maybe I need a reality check but what if I thought you did a horrible job...then what happens? She told me they prefer cash tip because a card tip they will have to charge me another $1 for the card fee. All in all I will not go back to this place on my own accord. First time coming here & didn't know what to expect as I don't get massage often (had it twice before; one was painful/bad + one was okay just felt like very light rubbing). -Wednesday, August 26- 3:30PM Body Massage (One 60-Minute Couples Full-Body Massage with Hot Stone and Aromatherapy Massage for Two $135) 4:30PM Body Scrub (2 orders of One 60-Minute Body Scrub with Soften Skin by Device Pre-Scrubbing and Sugar or Sea Salt Scrubbing $138) 5:30PM Complimentary Facial- owner gave to us (cleanse & face mask & toner) It looks shady from the outside; small massage parlor (not fancy as in upscale place with separate areas: lobby, changing area, etc). Owner greeted us warmly & lead us to our room. I used the restroom first (we had lunch right before coming here & I didn't want to hold it for 2hrs after drinking lots of water during lunch) & then my cousin went to the restroom, so I was the first in the room to change. The room was to the right of the front door (very close as in a few feet infront) had 2 beds. Dim lighting to set the mood. Clothes hooks infront of the bed on wall for our purses & clothing (is a narrow space between that wall to the massage bed because ladies stand in that area; TIP: Don't bring so much personal belongings or baggy items). We stripped naked & lay on the bed with a thin sheet covering us. Our face in the head opening area of the table looking down to the floor. We had selected the aromatherapy essential oils for our massage during check in (the ladies placed it under the table infront of our face so we could breathe it in). The massage was lovely; we enjoyed it very much. The ladies (owner + staff) was very friendly, polite, & courteous about touching/massaging & our body placement. They would cover one part as they work other parts &asked us about the pressure to make sure we were okay. There were 2 times where we heard outside the room, that a man had entered to inquire about massage. He sounded so close (the door was close to our room) to us that we were worried. The ladies made sure to cover us while the owner went out to speak to him; saying they were unavailable for the next 2hrs & to come back later or schedule for another day. This happened twice & we felt as if the man was in the room with us (I peeked & our room door was closed) & we were covered, but still felt too close for comfort. Body scrub was next; they lubed us up with the scrub mixture all over (felt like another massage). I was the first one done; so I had a thin sheet wrapped around me as I walked to the bathroom (they gave me shower slippers) to shower off the scrub mixture. The small shower is on the right side of the toilet with the washer/dryer next to the sink all in the same bathroom. Complimentary bath gel soap, shampoo, conditioner, facial wash & towels provided. When I returned to the room (so my cousin can shower next), I was told that the owner will gift us a complimentary facial since she liked us so much. We had chatted her up during check in & the service (she found out we were Taiwanese Americans); when I said we, I meant my cousin. My cousin is naturally charming that all loves her; plus she speaks Chinese fluently (better than me) so that comforted the owner who is Taiwanese. Overall, we enjoyed our experience & would come back. They worked out the knots in the back & are very professional. No funny business =P. We chatted occasionally with the ladies & with each other, but mostly just relax in silence to enjoy the experience. We both fell asleep during some parts of the massage/scrub massage-- that was how relaxed we were. -Friday, September 18- 6PM-7PM 1hr Body Massage My cousin & I decided to make this a monthly thing (or whenever we can meet up to enjoy) for a girl's spa day. We paid regular price to support business (they weren't doing so well during covid) $70 body massage per person. Afterward, we noticed a new deal... the owner had posted a sign for a new special deal- 90minutes massage for $70 which we'll try next time. She knocked off $5 for us both since we now become a loyal *returning* customer. We came fully ready to pay full price to help support her business & not expecting anything extra so it was a nice surprise of the $5discount. We have yet to make our October body massage appointment (due to me being in the Brooklyn ZipCode LockDown & being extra careful 10/7 to now & my cousin is a teacher waiting on her schedule conflicts to clear up). When I arrived for my 9 PM appointment, a woman walked into the room instead. I asked if Tony was available, and she responded with something I couldn't understand before immediately beginning the massage by wrapping my head in a towel with the force of someone trying to start a lawn mower. I genuinely thought my earrings were about to be ripped out of my ears. I asked her within the first 5m to go softer, but the pressure wasn't even the main issue - it felt like she wasn't actually working on my muscles. Somehow she managed to spend an hour pounding on bones I didn't even know could be massaged, including my tailbone and elbows. To be fair, even if she had reduced the pressure, she was still working all the wrong places. The entire massage felt less like bodywork and more like being attacked by a hundred tiny crabs while an angry toddler threw bricks at me. I spent the session counting down the minutes until it was over. Every time she finished one body part, I felt relieved simply because that meant we were closer to being done. All the movements weren't slow and calm; they were quick, frightening, and aggressive. I had hot stones as a part of my treatment, but her carelessness throughout the regular massage portion made me terrified of what the hot stones were going to be like (thankfully, they were a normal hot stone temperature). I was visibly uncomfortable the entire time - wincing, flinching, and even making noises because the massage hurt. I've never spent an entire massage staring at the clock and mentally calculating how much longer I had to survive. Usually massages make you lose track of time. This one made every minute feel like an hour. I left feeling more stressed and sore than when I arrived. I've had many massages over the years, and this was by far the most uncomfortable, painful, and disappointing one I've ever received. The fact that I specifically requested a particular therapist, was told that request would be honored, and then received a completely different therapist only made the experience worse. Yet I waited in that room for 20 minutes. When he did enter the room, the superficial massage was only 30 minutes, despite requesting one hour. He also requested a $100 tip during the massage. When the massage was over, I discussed the time with him, and he charged me for a 45-minute massage. I tipped him about 50%, so he didn't have to be concerned that I wouldn't be generous. This experience was definitely less than satisfactory, so I won't be back.
