We sat down and despite it being only half full at the restaurant, it took them a long time to just take our order. Then a bunch of things we ordered came but the soup took another 10-15 minutes. We tried the kombocha and sukiyaki. Decent flavor but I think the sukiyaki could have had more intensity. The quality of meats was not great. Extremely thin cuts but a lot of fat on them. Lunch menu has decent selection given the price and all. Over all we all were able to all order stuff we wanted. Tripe was super thick and chewy... Not great. And a few hands were freezer burnt tasting. I would not return to this one

Got the lunch menu which had the staples of a good shabu shabu at a cheaper cost. Standard items all around in the appetizer, meat, seafood and dessert options. Star of the meal for me was the sukiyaki broth. Service was efficient albeit perfunctory. Space was well lit and ventilated. Liked the lunch price option. Good shabu shabu spot overall.

Japanese hotpot and sister restaurant to Shinta bbq. Tried the two soup base, chicken and sukiyaki. The chicken soup was clean and the sukiyaki was more flavourful. Would need to try the tomato soup next time. Ordered mainly pork and beef, and one portion of the lamb. The lamb was okay, but made the soup base really gamey afterwords. They have five types of dipping sauce, garlic soy sauce, ponzu, sesame, onsen egg, and raw egg. The ponzu sauce was the citrusy and light which was my favourite. The dessert options are crème brûlée and melona bar.

I cannot explain it but their meats smelt funny. it's not like any sorta hot pot place I've had and not in a good way. The bases were pretty generic and there isnt much for a custom when it comes to your dipping sauces. We didn't make res but considering it was empty when I dropped by, they let me sit while waiting for friends whom were 10-15 min away. i was sitting for maybe 7 minutes when a female approached me and let me know that my table would be given away if my party didn't show up in a few. Odd because the whole place was empty except me and 2 other tables. I would have completely understood if it was busy. But I ignored her comment.

We had a nice experience when we visit Haru Haru. This restaurant is right beside Shinta Japanese BBQ, inside the Empress Walk Mall. The selection are very fresh and we also got to try the Wagyu special which was very tasty! If you're near the area, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant and check their page for promotions too. I like the decor and the restaurant is also neat. The staff are very helpful and even gave us suggestions on which broth to pick. They are always available if you need assistance.

Haru Shabu Shabu seems to be a sister restaurant of Daimaru, which is an extremely popular sukiyaki place. The menus are slightly different and I actually prefer Haru's. Some items that are different include Unagi Roe Over Rice, Takoyaki and Chicken Karaage. The meat options seem generally the same. The meat is extremely high quality and I love all their dipping sauce options. It's definitely Japanese style hot pot so expect more sweet flavoured broth, which can get a bit tiring after some time. But I didn't overeat and stopped when I started feeling more full and tired of the broth, so I didn't mind. I would say still try the sukiyaki base since it's more unique, but get something more neutral on the side to balance it out. They only take Debit or Cash so be wary of that. For two people, I paid $118 including tax and tip. So I think it's a bit more expensive than Daimaru, but I'm willing to pay the extra to not have to drive to Scarborough. I also got the most basic set, while they also offer wagyu sets which are much more expensive. I think the fattiness of the wagyu plus the sweetness of the broth would have done me in, but maybe I'm just weak. They've also had 50% their most expensive set since November - I'd double check with them, but I'm pretty sure that promotion is still going on. Overall I'll be back, it's not nearly as busy as Daimaru and you won't need a reservation unless it blows up in popularity.

japanese hotpot similar to daimaru but it felt the quality was way below and lacking ambiance. the way the cut and portion things were a bit weird for example the potato noodles were cut into little pieces and same as udon as well. The appetizers were very ok compared to Daimaru. The service was decent , it's not very busy location. the spicy broth was lacking flavour as well, in my opinion wouldn't come back unless it's for the late night special but it's nice that it's ayce hotpot in the northyork area.

The soup broths are an additional cost on top of the $35/pp AYCE 2 hour shabu shabu which I didn't realize until receiving the bill. My phone was dying so I couldn't look at the QR code menu too much. The protein selection is small, about 5~ different varieties per type of protein unless you want to upgrade to the $85/pp or $250/pp buffet. (Is it just me or are those tier prices crazy?) However, the service was extremely quick and efficient, and our server was very attentive so we could continue to request more meats and veggies. They have the system right in their hands and they fire off whatever you ask for and it shows up in seconds. Heads up if you get the spicy broth, it is SPICY if you accidentally get it in the wrong pipe. Dessert choices are melona bars or crème brûlée. These are my two favorite things so I got both. I was a happy camper. The location is convenient if you've just left the movies and are hungry. The ambiance is casual, it feels busy because of the shopping center.

Haru Shabu Shabu is an AYCE Japanese hotpot that opened not too long ago in North York. We came during the weekend, and it was busy - luckily we made a reservation (highly recommended to do). There are three options to choose from: regular AYCE, Silver and Gold Wagyu AYCE. When ordering, everything is through the server, however you have a physical menu to reference from. The sauce mix is also ordered through your server as well. When you order the soup, there's an option to get a mix, and we chose Sukiyaki and spicy. The Sukiyaki broth tasted quite pleasant with a hint of sweetness. There is a variety of appetizers, seafood, hot pot classics and more to pick, however since we didn't choose the wagyu AYCE option, there are options we couldn't pick (marked by the silver and gold flower). I highly recommend ordering the US prime beef plate, it tasted quite fresh, and pretty good quality. After we knew we were done with hotpot, we ordered rice and mixed it with the sukiyaki soup which was a good finisher. We opted for creme brûlée for dessert, and yes that was AYCE too. It was soft, and we definitely indulged alittle too much of it haha. IG: Ayeween

Haru Shabu Shabu is the newest place for Japanese all you can eat shabu shabu located on the 2nd floor of Empress Walk where Dagu Rice Noodle used to be. It shares a kitchen with Shinta. There are three all you can eat menus you can choose from where the silver and gold tiers have more expensive cuts of meat and seafood (think wagyu, abalone, etc.). There is a 2 hour seating limit and they only accept cash or debit. You are also able to make reservations. I dined at Haru Shabu Shabu recently on a Sunday night. My party and I did make reservations before hand. Tables are best suited for parties ranging from 2-8 people (can be difficult if you have more than 10 people in your party). We were shown to our table by the friendly staff where they have a QR code that we scan to view the menu. You do have to pay for the broth on top of the AYCE set price - 16.99 for 1 broth, 18.99 for 2 broths. There are flavours like pork bone soup, sukiyaki, tomato, etc. Servers are quick to ask about your order and the food comes quickly as well. The great thing about hot pot is that you can pretty much place all the meats you order into the boiling broth all at one (unlike BBQ where the meat may take longer to cook). We did opt for the lowest menu tier but we had enough options to choose from (both meats and seafoods). They also have a large selection of vegetables. For dessert you can get a crème brulee or Melona bars. Overall, the service was great, servers were attentive and came by our table multiple times to top up our soup broths. We were also asked multiple times by staff if we wanted to order more food when they saw that our table was a bit emptier. They even told us about when the last call was to order more items. Shabu shabu definitely cooks faster than BBQ where you can order lots of more food items (and eat more too if you can). Do check this place out if you can!

Free parking for 2 hrs but if u miss it even by a min, u gotta pay for it urself. Restaurant is not that big and it's a side restaurant from shinta. Restaurant isn't too busy and u can make reservations ahead. Soup is additional cost to ayce cost which is pretty common at shabu shabu places. Sukiyaki soup wasn't that strong. Not too sweet or salty. The pumpkin soups base was a little spicy but it does wear out as they refill ur soup. Food was mid The tofu puffs had strong refrigerator taste lol We went at 7:30 and they were already sold out of the crème brule which is kinda ridiculous. They also had melona and offered us strawberry/banana/ coconut flavours

Would I recommend? As your occasional hotpot choice, is a yes. How is the food? We tried the silver Wagyu package, and I would say that if you enjoy Wagyu beef in the shabu shabu style then it is worth the money for you. Make sure you bring cash to get the 20% off. The silver wagyu package is $88.99 per person, and make sure you try it with the Sujiyaki soupbase plus get either the hotspring egg or the raw egg as your dip for the wagyu for extra creamy taste! How is the Service? The service is pretty mediocre, but not too bad. Acceptable. Recommendation to make your life easier. They are all you can eat style, but they do not have a machine for you to order. You need to tell the server what you want. I recommend you type what you want down ahead of time, so it will make your ordering experience better. How to find it They are on the 2nd floor of Empress Walk, two levels on top of Loblaws

We had the "Silver Wagyu AYCE" which was $89 per person. This included "premium" options such as USA and Australian Wagyu, oysters, scallops and abalone. We chose sukiyaki and kabocha as the soup bases. The sukiyaki was pretty sweet, but the kabocha was good with a hint of spice, but did get very thick towards the end. We arrived around 8:30 and were told there was a seating limit of 2 hours which is normal. But then proceeded to tell us that 9:30 would be the last call, which was fine for us because we thought they closed at 10. But around 9:30 we saw more tables come in which tells me they weren't closing anytime soon. Essentially they gave us 1 hour to order and 2 hours to eat Food wise: the Australian wagyu was pretty good, the portions were big and the meat looked fresh and marbled. But the USA wagyu was brown and had a funky aftertaste (not pictured cause it was ugly). The seafood was decent, the scallops were quite big and seemed fresh. However there wasn't much selection for the premium items. We also ordered takoyaki and chicken karaage which both came out room temperature and not crispy at all. When we got the bill, in addition to almost $90 a person, there was a $20 soup charge and automatic service charge which had our bill at $250. You know me, I don't mind paying for good food but this was NOT IT! My go-to Ushi Shabu Shabu is about $60 plus a soup fee, and the food selection is MUCH more extensive. I also have a suspicion that this is run by the same people of Daimaru since their menu design and food offerings seem identical. Would most definitely skip this spot and check out Ushi instead if you haven't been

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients). Location is super convenient near Bay & Dundas, ambiance is very casual, and service is quick.

The establishment is very clean and bright and a great place to head to if you're in a rush.

The menu is set up to where you pick the entree and then what type of protein you want out of pork loin, chicken, fish, cheese, and sweet potato cheese. I settled on the sweet chili katsu. A piece of chicken arrived on a plate accompanied with rice and shredded cabbage. The chicken was breaded in a light panko like crumb and was half covered in the sweet chili sauce. I ate a couple of pieces and the crisp texture and flavor was wonderful. I had a bite of rice and when I got to the cabbage to my dismay I found a long piece of hair in it. I immediately lost my appetite and all I could think about was how great the two bites of chicken was. I gave up the plate and showed the staff what I found. They offered another plate a couple of times and after I declined a refund was issued. Katsuya. sucks for serving me one of the best pieces of breaded chicken in my life with hair in the food. I'm struggling to hold back the tears now as I write. I did get to try the parmesan fries which were ok. I also tasted the udon which is not one of their stronger dishes. This probably would have been five stars had it not been for the hair. I know this happens on the rare occasion but probably shouldn't if hair nets are worn. If you do try out this place, expect great katsuya.
