Picked up some chicken gumbo and literally got 75% rice. There was so much rice there was not even enough gumbo to make the rice brown.

Had lunch here with the family after my mom had a few errands to run. While I'm very familiar with the Hartz brand, it was my first time visiting this location. It was very hit or miss. From the outside, the building gives a vibe that it's dated and possibly rife with upkeep issues. My assumptions were confirmed once inside, but with a slightly growling stomach, I decided to overlook it and focused on the buffet. The fried chicken and the chicken tenders were really good. Maybe it's because the business day had just begun, but both were hot and fresh. Among the usual sides i.e. mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, etc. sat some gumbo, which I was impressed with. The Cajun staple paired well with the white rice. What disappointed me were the dirty rice with its off-putting taste and smell and the underwhelming baked chicken. The restroom doesn't give me confidence the staff prioritizes cleanliness. Thankfully, I just had to wash my hands after every plate. I wouldn't mind returning if given the chance, but if anything, the newer Hartz on 517 is better. read more

I was basically the only person in line and had to wait an excessive amount of time while the manager filled Door Dash orders before mine.She was very low key nasty saying under her breath"she just has to wait" when I asked the cashier what is taking so long.I ordered 10 pieces of chicken only and a 12 piece fish.The fish piece sides were irregular in size so you get less than you pay for.I guess they figure that after you are full, you don't care what is left. Somebody was a little heavy handed on the salt but I don't have high blood pressure.The staff used to be very friendly but seem like a tyrant in charge has them afraid to think and speak in favor of a customer.If you waited excessively they would offer you a drink of soda.When I asked, this tyrant kept her back turned and told the cashier " I just have to wait", and the cashier was so used to her response that she never came back to tell me anything.$36.00 for food and bully -like behavior is enough for me not spend my money there anymore. read more

The food there was so good. I live in the Woodlands and I would drive there just to eat the buffet. The fish was cooked just right.

I used to think that all Hearz buffets were the same as far as price wise, but this particular one is charges only $9 on the weekdays and comes with a drink. If you come here on the weekends it's $8 drink included and the ingredients always seem to be rotated. I could have sworn the hearts by my residence and part of town and then North charge about $11 and it is without drink so that is what kind of caught our attention. IF I COULD GIVE NO STARS I WOULD!This store is disgusting. From the service to the bathrooms absolutely gross. The inside matches the outside, grungy looking. Out of the five young people standing behind the counter laughing and playing one finally asked if he could help us. This is the first time we've ever been to this restaurant and the menu is very overwhelming. There are so many different combos but few actual choices. This particular establishment has an all you can eat buffet. But when we asked about it we were informed that the buffet was closed. At 8:30 it's closed? Even with the sign stating open all day, every day. As frustrating as that was we opted to go ahead and order anyway. Hoping that we would at least be able to enjoy our chicken. Wrong. They pulled all of our food from the bar and dropped it into the fryer to re-heat it. Even all the sides were taken directly from the bar and packaged up. We really should have dropped the bag off at the counter and demanded a refund. I really hope the health department pops in on them too after seeing the manager drape the tongs used to pick up the food over her arm like it was a bracelet. 0/10 do not recommend. If you want good home, cooked food, wholesome food like corn, mashed potatoes, green beans, macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, and this is the place you wanna go. The dinner rolls are on par with Texas roadhouse No . The ambience is old-school. Very old-school like mom and Pops. Kind of restaurant with dinner trays and a Buffay style set up but again you're there for the food and the wholesome food. The service is good because they are always nice at the register no waiters come around because that's not the kind of place it is, but they keep it clean for what it is all in all. The family who owned this place was very nice. We ordered chicken and tenders to go. They made everything fresh for me, because I can be a bit of a diva if it's not fresh! The rolls were a little smaller than other Hartz I've been to but they were soft. I wouldn't recommend the buffet, because it's a buffet (I don't do buffet) and it looked yucky. The chicken tenders are chunky white meat, moist, crunchy and delicious compared to other places.
